I start off with the earliest of the dailys (which will be Alpha 1, I
suppose), and use the updates every couple of days, so effectively I am
working with the dailys but on an installed version of the testing
version. Odd times I end up with a broken system and it's often easier
to reinstall from the latest daily build. Doing testing this way means
that I am testing on a live system which I am using for all my normal
work. If it breaks, I have the dual-boot stable version to fall back on
and can move seamlessly (more or less) from the one to the other.

barry, instead of using the alpha releases, could you try just running the
dailys?

Agreed! We need a wiki section as well developed for "Running the
development Release". It's an important part of what we do, but there
isn't a good resource or information about it. Would you be willing to
take it up to help?

Maybe adding something along the section 3 in addition to Vbox, KVM and
Testdrive:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Activities/Classroom/Saucy

It sounds interesting, have you though about giving a session about it Barry?

Maybe adding something along the section 3 in addition to Vbox, KVM and
Testdrive:

Re: Participate

Welcome :-)

I would encourage you to have a look through the following pages;

https://qa.ubuntu.com/getting-involved/
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam
http://www.youtube.com/qualitybecomesyou

Your first step is to join us and say hello and you've done that :-)
Now, pick out what your interested in and dive in. Use the activities
page on the wiki to help.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Activities

If your unsure were to start, testing a daily iso is a great first
start. Follow the tutorial:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/ISO/Walkthrough

From there, look at dedicating a machine to testing the development
release. You can install and update your machine as saucy is developed,
and you can use it for testing as we track packages throughout the
cycle. We call this cadence testing, and it kicks off in a couple weeks.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Cadence

We can always use some more eyes reporting and confirming bug reports
(as well as breaking things)! As always ask questions at any point via
IRC or this mailing list. You can reach our IRC channel by following the
link below:

http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=ubuntu-testing

Welcome to the team!

Nicholas
