Hi Jackson & Nicholas, one of the comments from the edit of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Activities/ is that we do not mention hack-fests. Would it be better to have a hack-fest header page (similar in layout to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Activities/Classroom ) where the various hack-fests can be easily accessed and thus added? Re: [Lubuntu-qa] Testdrive hackfest.
Hey Jackson, Great you are having this test done in august. Allows enough time for everyone interested in attending to clear time from their busy schedule. I am free on Sundays. Anytime will do. Hangouts or irc will do fine. Istimsak abdulbasir On Jul 17, 2013 6:00 PM, "Jackson Doak" wrote: > I've shortened the hackfest so it's 1100-2200UTC, but i'm only > available 1100-1200 and 2000-2200. I've shortened the hackfest so it's 1100-2200UTC, but i'm only available 1100-1200 and 2000-2200. Is someone going to be able to adopt the remaining time? Re: [Lubuntu-qa] Testdrive hackfest.
Hello Jackson et. al, I don't think it is a good idea to wait until the Hackfest. Translators do not normally subscribe to this list, and hacking on Testdrive may not seem to be a good idea for them. I will send off an email tomorrow evening (UTC time) to the Ubuntu and Launchpad's translation lists. Anyways, if we are to run the Hackfest using Google+ Hangouts, make sure it goes in the Ubuntu OnAir! course. Jackson, after you finalized everything please inform Jose Antonio Rey (JoseeAntonioR) so he can make appropriate arrangements on it. And I am looking at Nicholas to do all the promotion for us:) Regards, Howard Chan (smartboyhw) On Jul 17, 2013 8:17 AM, "Jackson Doak" wrote: > After the hackfest might be better, i want to see how much of a > turnout we get. > that said, i can't stop you. > > On Wed, Jul 17, 2013 at 5:14 PM, Ho Wan Chan wrote: > > Hello Jackson et. al, > > > > For the translations, should I send a call for translations in Launchpad > and > > Ubuntu's translation list? > > > > Regards, > > Howard Chan (smartboyhw) > > > > On Jul 16, 2013 10:33 PM, "Jackson Doak" wrote: > >> > >> I'm thinking we do all day saturday the 9th (UTC). > >> > >> I've made a wiki page for the event at > >> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Testdrive/Hackfest > >> > >> On Wed, Jul 17, 2013 at 7:30 AM, David Manuel Pires > >> wrote: > >> > Hi guys, > >> > > >> > You can count me on, except on the 24th and 25th From the 24th onward, > >> > it's > >> > vacation time for me. > >> > > >> > Cheers, > >> > David Pires > >> > > >> > > >> > On Tue, Jul 16, 2013 at 9:46 PM, Jackson Doak > >> > wrote: > >> >> > >> >> G+ hangout's is a good idea. i'll make one that runs all day. > >> >> I'm working on a wiki page for the hackfest, i'll link it soon. > >> >> > >> >> Which weekend in august does everyone want? Re: [Lubuntu-qa] Testdrive hackfest.
Hello Jackson et. al, I don't think it is a good idea to have a Google+ Hangout all day long, we don't have enough manpower to do a 24-hour marathon just on Testdrive business (we aren't the Ubuntu Community Team, don't forget). Re: [Lubuntu-qa] Testdrive hackfest.
Good point. maybe if we have two, hour long segments where the hangout is open. (maybe 1200 and 2000) I'd say the hackfest itself goes all day (in irc) though, that will help with numbers. Re: [Lubuntu-qa] Testdrive hackfest.
Hello Ubuntu and Lubuntu QA Team, It's great that Jackson will finally hold a Testdrive Hackfest for us. I got my UbuntuKylin Testdrive code merged in just today, which is great. As for time, it will be difficult for me to join Jackson, since when he is morning I am sleeping, and when we are both on IRC everyone else will be asleep!!! So probably I can't join it, sorry. As for the date, just pick any weekend. I don't think we should actually fit it to Ubuntu Touch's final freeze. It will attract less contributors and I don't think we can fit Ubuntu Touch images ibto Testdrive anyway. So Jackson, just pick any date you want on August. Regards, Howard Chan (smartboyhw) (K)ubuntu member, Ubuntu QA Team member P.S. Jackson, maybe you should do the hackfest using Google+ Hangouts. Also, do you want me to do the Ubuntu GNOME flavour addition to Testdrive when I come back or just do it yourself? Maybe you can do it yourself or let new interested contributors join in, it's just copying;) I will investigate on adding the Netboot ISO when I come back from London on 31st July. Re: [Lubuntu-qa] Testdrive hackfest/hangout
Hi Jackson, great news about the hackfest; get it all updated. Having testdrive working with the updated VBox and KVM will be good. The new VBox version should be in the repos now. As to the new members of the ubuntu family who got added last cycle, I do hope you guys can get this all sorted out for a testing tool for 13.10. that will be excellent work. We then have some classrooms[1] to run again.
