Someone please add an ubuntu-release-notes task to the bug and a concise
write-up of how to work around the problems.

Hi Scott,

the chat for the work-around is at http://pastebin.com/6vizVjFk

PPC people are fairly resourceful, if that is noted in the release notes,
they should be able to install. (It may be worth getting it updated on the
'main' PPC wik FAQ area and simply put a link to it).

Regards,

Phill.

Great. I'm willing to release this is we get a report of a successful
install. Then the question will be how big is the warning label we put on it.

Re: still needs testing

2013-04-24 Thread Phill Whiteside
Hi Scott,

I know one the lubuntu-ppc testers was testing kubuntu-ppc. I've cc'd this
to lubuntu-qa to ask if anyone can help. The bug seems surmountable and
warrants a release note. But, I'm not your release manager :D

@lubuntu PPC testers, lubuntu PPC (desktop and alternate) are now good for
release, with the usual release note for dratted 'kernel-restart error'. If
you get time, please test ubuntu-server-ppc (to confirm it installs) and
kubuntu-dektop-ppc which seems to need the workaround detailed below:

The new Kubuntu builds are starting to appear and Active was the first one up.

Kubuntu Active (along with the rest of Kubuntu) is currently being respun, so
hold off just a bit on that.
