Still certifying systems for Precise and raising bugs as appropriate. Both
Quantal and Precise+ weekly testing are in progress as well, we'll be raising
bugs as appropriate.

=== What's about to land that might impact the other teams? ===

Nothing of note

=== Release Notes ===

None.

=== Summary of bugs working on by team ===

The following bugs are blocking certification of systems with Precise (* means
new to the report):

910792 Add support for Cirrus Logic
CS4213 (HDA Intel Codec)

As soon as the current Precise -proposed kernel completes regression testing
this fix will be in

994274 [Lenovo SL410] Mute button
requires you to hit a volume button

This is found to be a duplicate
ofhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/595896

595896 has been assigned to an engineer.
I think James isn't an engineer, and someone else assigned him the bug.
I can't actually make sense from the bug if there is a patch or anything
like that for Precise. If we both can't figure it out then maybe I
should remove this duplicate from the original bug and we can follow up
through the one we raised?

994685 [Dell Inspiron 17] Headphone
jack outputs no sound

Test kernel works, but patches may not be SRUable. We need to do some more
testing - could do with any help or hints from the kernel team as well.

Herton has posted some additional comments, please continue to follow up.

994790 [Dell XT3] Firewire does not
work

Still waiting on further information from our side

994809 [Dell XT3] Wi-fi slider
doesn't remove hard block from wi-fi device

Waiting on further information from our side

960311 Networking on Dell PowerEdge
R300 with Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5722 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express is not
functional

Tested with Quantal kernel and still failing. Need to test the upstream kernel
- but haven't been able to do so successfully yet

978929 [Lenovo Thinkpad T420] SD
Card-reader non functional

This is an upstream issue and we
openedhttp://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43370. However we have a
growing suspicion that the card reader is actually broken on this system.

990575 Entire desktop becomes
unresponsive after suspend/resume

This may have been fixed by an update, waiting on some further testing to find
out.

1010175 [Dell Inspiron 1129 Model
M101z]: Internal microphone does not work.

Awaiting further testing from our side

1002703 Broadcom STA driver can't
install on systems

This is being worked on.

1014744 [Lenovo Thinkpad SL510]
Mute buttons don't work *

This has also been marked as a duplicate
ofhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/595896

1008867 can't wake up from suspend

Being worked on.

992720 [Lenovo E420s] Hitting
brightness keys causes machine to lock up

Still exists in the mainline kernel, needs a response from the kernel team

Will have my team follow up.

Thanks,
Leann

[QA Community] Release Meeting 2012-06-29

2012-06-28 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
FYI, I will be absent tomorrow; please follow-up to the thread if you have
questions :-)

=== What was done engineering wise? ===

* Kernel testing 12.10 on 12.04 migrated to production tracker from the
temporary home on the staging site.
* Alpha 2 Released; overall, very happy with the usage of notice board and
communication. See jibel's testing report,
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/ReleaseReports/QuantalAlpha2TestReport
* Met with HEXR team to plan community hardware database launch; tentatively
scheduled for end of August. The hope is to use it in conjunction with the
final beta(s) iso testing
* Setup packages.qa.ubuntu.com; in the future will hold application testing as
well as individual calls for testing

=== What's about to land that might impact the other teams and release as a
whole? ===

* Focus on testcases -- migration of testcases to the qatracker is a goal for
the beta iso testing. Further examination of what's being tested will be
examined after migration.

=== Summary of bugs working on by team (reasonably reliable) ===

* Qt4-x11 bug, targeted for alpah3 now
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qt4-x11/+bug/1005677

This week we rebased the Quantal kernel to the latest v3.5-rc4 upstream Linux
kernel and uploaded. This contained some critical bug fixes necessary for

facilitate testing of the 12.10 kernel in 12.04. Please test and let us know
your results.

We've also recently uploaded the linux-ti-omap4-3.4.0-2.7 kernel to resolve

12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) Alpha 2 Released!

2012-06-28 Thread Kate Stewart
Welcome to the Quantal Quetzal Alpha 2 image set, which will in time
become the 12.10 release.

Pre-releases of Quantal Quetzal are *not* encouraged for anyone
needing a stable system or anyone who is not comfortable running
into occasional, even frequent breakage. They are, however,
recommended for Ubuntu developers and those who want to help in
testing, reporting, and fixing bugs as we work towards getting
this release ready.

Alpha 2 is the second in a series of milestone images that will be
released throughout the Quantal development cycle, in addition to
our daily development images. The Alpha images are known to be
reasonably free of showstopper CD build or installer bugs, while
representing a very recent snapshot of Quantal. You can download
them here:

   http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/quantal/alpha-2/
   (Ubuntu Desktop, Server)

Additional images are also available at:

   http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/releases/quantal/alpha-2/
   (Ubuntu Server Cloud)
   http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/quantal/alpha-2/
   (Kubuntu)
   http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/releases/quantal/alpha-2/
   (Edubuntu)
   http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/quantal/alpha-2/
   (Lubuntu)
   http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/quantal/alpha-2/
   (Xubuntu)
   http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntustudio/releases/quantal/alpha-2/
   (Ubuntu Studio)

Alpha 2 includes a number of software updates that are ready for wider
testing. This is an early set of images, so you should expect
some bugs. For a more detailed description of the changes in the Alpha
2 release and the known bugs (which can save you the effort of reporting
a duplicate bug, or help you find proven workarounds), please see:

  http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/

If you're interested in following the changes as we further develop
Quantal, we suggest that you subscribe initially to the
ubuntu-devel-announce list. This is a low-traffic list (a few posts a
week) carrying announcements of approved specifications, policy changes,
alpha releases, and other interesting events.

[Hardware Certification] Release Meeting 2012-29-06

2012-06-28 Thread Brendan Donegan

=== What was done engineering wise? ===

Still certifying systems for Precise and raising bugs as appropriate. Both
Quantal and Precise+ weekly testing are in progress as well, we'll be raising
bugs as appropriate.

=== What's about to land that might impact the other teams? ===

Nothing of note

=== Release Notes ===

None.

=== Summary of bugs working on by team ===

The following bugs are blocking certification of systems with Precise (* means
new to the report):

910792 Add support for Cirrus Logic
CS4213 (HDA Intel Codec)

As soon as the current Precise -proposed kernel completes regression testing
this fix will be in

994274 [Lenovo SL410] Mute button
requires you to hit a volume button

This is found to be a duplicate
ofhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/595896

994685 [Dell Inspiron 17] Headphone
jack outputs no sound

Test kernel works, but patches may not be SRUable. We need to do some more
testing - could do with any help or hints from the kernel team as well.

994790 [Dell XT3] Firewire does not
work

Still waiting on further information from our side

994809 [Dell XT3] Wi-fi slider
doesn't remove hard block from wi-fi device

Waiting on further information from our side

960311 Networking on Dell PowerEdge
R300 with Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5722 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express is not
functional

Tested with Quantal kernel and still failing. Need to test the upstream kernel
- but haven't been able to do so successfully yet

978929 [Lenovo Thinkpad T420] SD
Card-reader non functional

This is an upstream issue and we
openedhttp://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43370. However we have a
growing suspicion that the card reader is actually broken on this system.

990575 Entire desktop becomes
unresponsive after suspend/resume

This may have been fixed by an update, waiting on some further testing to find
out.

1010175 [Dell Inspiron 1129 Model
M101z]: Internal microphone does not work.

Awaiting further testing from our side

1002703 Broadcom STA driver can't
install on systems

This is being worked on.

1014744 [Lenovo Thinkpad SL510]
Mute buttons don't work *

This has also been marked as a duplicate
ofhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/595896

1008867 can't wake up from suspend

Being worked on.

992720 [Lenovo E420s] Hitting
brightness keys causes machine to lock up

Still exists in the mainline kernel, needs a response from the kernel team

759213 [HP Compaq 6005 Pro] Suspend
does not resume

We need to open an upstream bug.

1012740 [Dell Latitude E6410]
Becomes unresponsive after suspending/resuming several times

We've begun the bisecting process but need to test a few more kernels

1002170 system
halted while idled for a long time.

Being worked on.

1009585 [Dell Vostro 460]: System
is unresponsive after Unity login screen.

Needs upstream testing and proper log files from our side.

992087 [Vostro 3450] No sound from
internal speakers

We need to raise an upstream bug

=== Dependencies on other teams, blocking items? ===

1013843 resolv.conf empty when doing PXE
installations

We're still hacking around this and hoping for a resolution soon

=== Issues? ===

None

New component-mismatches for source universe -> main

2012-06-28 Thread process-component-mismatches-diff
The following universe packages have new reverse dependencies
in main or got seeded. They need to get a MainInclusionReport and be
promoted, or the reverse dependencies in main need to be dropped:

  o fonts-lklug-sinhala: fonts-lklug-sinhala
[Reverse-Depends: Ubuntu.Quantal desktop-common seed]

Please see http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/component-mismatches.txt
for the full report.
