=== What was done engineering wise? ===
We uploaded the 3.5.0-17.26 and 3.5.0-18.27 kernels leading up to Kernel
Freeze this week. These uploads most notably contain a rebase to
upstream stable v3.5.5, updated Highbank patches, additional Haswell
graphics support patches, packaging updates for signed kernels, misc bug
fixes, and minor config updates. With Kernel Freeze now in effect, only
patches which adhere to the SRU policy will be applied. Additionally,
only critical bug fixes will warrant an upload at this time as we
approach our final release.

As usual, we intend to land these kernel in the
ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/q-lts-backport PPA to facilitate testing of the 12.10
kernel in 12.04. Please test and let us know your results.

[Lubuntu] Release Meeting 2012-10-05

2012-10-05 Thread Julien Lavergne
Hi,

=== What was done engineering wise? ===

 * Working on the new file manager update
 * Fixes for the lubuntu software-center

=== What's about to land that might impact the other teams and release
as a whole? ===

 * Nothing

=== Summary of bugs working on by team (reasonably reliable) ===

 * (Bug:1059845) : New upstream release of pcmanfm / libfm
 * Several lxkeymap bugs (Bug:1014049, Bug:996588, Bug:996590, Bug:1017249)

=== Dependencies on other teams to make deliverables, blocking items,
release wide concerns? ===

 * Some artwork problems remains with the versions of unico and / or
gtk3 in quantal (black borders on various widgets, active control
ignoring the X ...). If we can have some help, at least to know which
change we need to do on our theme, that would help us. See bug 1043129
for detail and discussion.

Hey Julien,

I'm not sure it's the same issue but it seems a bit similar to:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1059374

If somebody having the upstream could test the gtk git commit that would
be useful (I would give the link to it but git.gnome.org seems down)

Cheers,

Where is the branch for that? I asked for it some days ago but didn't
get them. So this has not submitted from my point of view.

Which specific bug numbers do you recommend be accepted?

[Hardware Certification] Release Meeting 2012-10-05

2012-10-05 Thread Daniel Manrique
=== What was done engineering wise? ===

We're getting ready to certify Quantal by fixing issues in Checkbox and
incorporating some new, shiny, automated tests to the test suite. We are also
continuing Quantal daily testing and Precise backports testing. At the moment
everything looks fine with this and no bugs to mention.

=== What's about to land that might impact the other teams? ===

Nothing of note

=== Release Notes ===

None.

=== Summary of bugs working on by team ===

The following bugs are blocking certification of systems with Precise (* means
new to the report):

*1029101**https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029101**  [eMachines ER-1401-57] -
Fails suspend

Confirmed as still occurring upstream.*

*1016195**https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1016195**  [Dell Latitude E6220]
Crashes
or exits with signal 9 when under heavy load (TOP PRIORITY)

No further progress, we need to verify the hardware to ensure it's not flaky.

992603**https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/992603**  [Lenovo E525] Touchpad can
become disabled after suspend/resume
**
**No further progress.*

994274https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994274  [Lenovo SL410] Mute button
requires you to hit a volume button

This is found to be a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/595896

May be worth retesting since it's hard to follow the bug commentary.

994809https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994809  [Dell XT3] Wi-fi slider doesn't
remove hard block from wi-fi device

Bug is being investigated.

978929https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/978929  [Lenovo Thinkpad T420]  SD
Card-reader non functional

This is an upstream issue and we opened
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43370. However we have a growing
suspicion that the card reader is actually broken on this system.

990575https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/990575  Entire desktop becomes
unresponsive after suspend/resume (TOP PRIORITY)

No further progress.

1002703https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1002703  Broadcom STA driver can't
install on systems

Bug still occurs with -updates. bcmwl-kernel-source needs to be suggested by
ubuntu-drivers.

1014744https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1014744  [Lenovo Thinkpad SL510] Mute
buttons don't work

This has also been marked as a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/595896

1008867https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1008867 can't wake up from suspend

A fix has been commited upstream, but not known if it has made it into Quantal
yet.

992720https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/992720  [Lenovo E420s] Hitting
brightness keys causes machine to lock up

Bisection process is ongoing on this one.

759213https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/759213 [HP Compaq 6005 Pro] Suspend
does not resume

We need to open an upstream bug.

1012740https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1012740  [Dell Latitude E6410] Becomes
unresponsive after suspending/resuming several times

Per the bug report this should only need testing 2-3 more kernels.

1002170https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1002170  system
halted while idled for a long time.

Being worked on and upstream bug exists and has been linked

1009585https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1009585 [Dell Vostro 460]: System is
unresponsive after Unity login screen.

Have another handspun kernel to test

992087https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/992087 [Vostro 3450] No sound from
internal speakers

We need to raise an upstream bug and still need to test with a certified release
(11.04), to confirm it's not a hardware issue (machine may have broken since
being certified with 11.04).

=== Dependencies on other teams, blocking items? ===

None

=== Issues? ===

None

Re: [QA] Release Meeting 2012-10-05

2012-10-05 Thread Paul Larson
As requested by Kate in the release meeting this morning, here's a quick
summary of some testing I did today on panda:

- On server, the missing keyboard support during install is confirmed
fixed now
- Hit a few new bugs, and an old one on desktop. The most troubling one
at the moment is that none of the libreoffice apps work. I can
reproduce this 100% of the time here, but would appreciate someone
confirming this.

[desktop]
* [Bug 1062448] [NEW] soffice.bin crashed with SIGSEGV in
lucene::index::IndexFileNames::fileNameFromGeneration()
* [Bug 1062440] [NEW] PandaBoard audio loud pops after playing sound
over headphone jack
* [Bug 1062428] [NEW] omap4 desktop install image sometimes boots
without keyboard working
* [Bug 960770] Packages requiring dkms at Pandaboard (omap 4) will also
pull linux-headers-generic because current dkms dependencies

Thanks,
Paul Larson
