diff between ubuntu nodejs package and downloading from node.js site?

Hello,

is ubuntu distribution simply packaging the software from node.js as package 
nodejs? I mean is it the same to download from node.js website and build  on my 
ubuntu server? will there be any differences like installation folders, package 
config etc.?
