Ok I figured it out. I installed the wrong mysql package. This is the right process: apt-get install build-essential apt-get source bind9 apt-get build-dep bind9 apt-get libmysqlclient15-dev, needed for mysql headers and libraries for the dlz-mysql driver. cd bind9-9.4.1-P1 export DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=--with-dlz-mysql. At the moment our company authenticates users with samba/winbind/kerberos. They simply enter their usernames without any domain-part. Hi, I'm curious... Would it be possible for you to try and scp a file from your Linux Server to your Vista client? You can use something like Putty's pscp from: http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/pscp.exe See what sort of throughput you get on a secure copy. At line 8604, you'll see my first thought was to try the offered merge option. Line 8605 shows an unhappy dpkg. I'm not sure what the merge depends on - maybe I don't have it installed and that error isn't handled well? See bug 201059 for more information on the prompt. SOLVED! Or at least it was solved for me. I compared the problem box with another box also running Ubuntu. In the end, what I did was to create the file /var/lib/dhcp3/dhclient.eth0.leases on the problem box. The file was missing and the syslog was complaining that the file couldn't be created, so I created it. Then 'chown dhcp dhclient.eth0.leases' to give it the correct ownership. After that, everything works! Hope that helps someone.
