[Bug 209500] Re: Bind 9.4.1-P1 fails to compile with the --with-dlz-mysql flag

2008-03-31 Thread JPHein
Ok I figured it out.
I installed the wrong mysql package.
This is the right process:
apt-get install build-essential
apt-get source bind9
apt-get build-dep bind9
apt-get libmysqlclient15-dev, needed for mysql headers and libraries for the
dlz-mysql driver.
cd bind9-9.4.1-P1
export DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=--with-dlz-mysql. This does not work as it shoud so:
nano -w debian/rules, add --with-dlz-mysql to ./configure line
dpkg-buildpackage -b
dpkg -i ../bind9_9.4.1-P1-3ubuntu1_i386.deb

** Changed in: bind9 (Ubuntu)

[Bug 192598] Re: username format during login

2008-03-31 Thread cfrein
At the moment our company authenticates users with
samba/winbind/kerberos. They simply enter their usernames without any
domain-part.

I would appreciate if likewise-open can offer the same functionality.

@Farbrizio: I agree to your statement average users won't understand
how to write their usernames.

Windows-Users are usually not used to enter their domain.

Re: [Bug 208552] Re: Poor performance in smbclient while transmitting

2008-03-31 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Hi,

I'm curious... Would it be possible for you to try and scp a file
from your Linux Server to your Vista client? You can use something
like Putty's pscp from:
http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/pscp.exe
See what sort of throughput you get on a secure copy.

Also, check that your Linux server is connected at Fast Ethernet
(100Mbps) using ethtool:
ethtool eth0

Finally, see what your hard disk throughput is using hdparm:
hdparm -t /dev/sda

From which version were you upgrading from
DpkgTerminalLog.gz, skip down to line 8151. Everything above that is
irrelevant.
Find samba. Line 8378:
Preparing to replace samba 3.0.28a-0ubuntu3 (using
 .../samba_3.0.28a-1ubuntu2_i386.deb) ...

What was the first version of ubuntu you've installed on the system ?
I've had Ubuntu since 6.04; I've always tracked the /next/ release through the
development cycle.

Did you modify the default smb.conf file ?
Yes. At line 8604, you'll see my first thought was to try the offered merge
option. Line 8605 shows an unhappy dpkg. I'm not sure what the merge
depends on - maybe I don't have it installed and that error isn't handled well?

See bug 201059 for more information on the prompt.
Not a dup of that as I have amended the smb.conf file.

[Bug 39249] Re: (Dapper) can't create /var/lib/dhcp3/dhclient.eth0.leases: Permission denied

2008-03-31 Thread aceperry
SOLVED! Or at least it was solved for me. I compared the problem box
with another box also running Ubuntu. In the end, what I did was to
create the file /var/lib/dhcp3/dhclient.eth0.leases on the problem box.
The file was missing and the syslog was complaining that the file
couldn't be created, so I created it. Then 'chown dhcp
dhclient.eth0.leases' to give it the correct ownership. After that,
everything works! Hope that helps someone. Sorry for crossposting, I
put this in another thread somewhere, but this problem was driving me
nuts until I fixed it.
