[Bug 214714] Re: Upgrading to Hardy destroyed my network shares and when I try to recreate them I get this long complicated error message

2008-04-13 Thread Patrice Vetsel
@mnemo : "Adding "usershare owner only = False" makes my system usable
again"

You mean that the shares you specifically mades with nautilus-share are
working ?

"usershare owner only = false" is a security problem, I think that we
will never put this inb smb.conf.

Re: [Bug 215595] [NEW] Port parameter at command line is ignored

2008-04-13 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Hi,

What do you mean by 'start a tunneled connection on mysql' ?

Generally, "tunneled connections" refer to stunnel or ssh port
forwarding. In which case, you'd ssh from one machine to your mysql
server and use "local port forwarding". See the ssh man page.

Or are you just simply trying to run the mysql client from one machine
to the other? First check to make sure you can connect to the server
from the server using the mysql against localhost. You might also
sanity check your settings in /etc/mysql/my.cnf

bug is about getting stuff to work "out of the box" though so that
others users don't have to go through the same debugging process I had
to go through.

[Bug 155947] Re: ldap config causes Ubuntu to hang at a reboot

2008-04-13 Thread Todvard
I have the same problem on a Hardy server installation. I have updated it from
Gutsy, but i count it as a Hardy install because i only used Gutsy server cd to
install the base system then i have updated it to hardy straight away. In my
case it was not enough to put "bind_policy soft" in ldap.conf, i had to change
runlevel of slapd from S19 to S10.
My system without these changes hangs at login, i can ping it but can not
login. The boot process stops at "Starting kernel log daemon...".

I have attached my config files. I don't have pam_ldap.conf and libnss-
ldap.conf.

Exactly (drwxr-xr-x+) - it's a read-only share, set up by Nautilus.

Here it is:
> Einhängen des Ortes nicht möglich
> Einhängen des Windows-Speichers fehlgeschlagen

It's basically the same for XP: It complains that the share cannot be
accessed.

/var/log/samba is always:
> '/home/normal/Daten/Filme' does not exist or permission denied when
> connecting to [filme] Error was Permission denied

If I disable Guest Access in Nautilus the password dialogue pops up in
Ubuntu and after entering it correctly, I can access the share.
If I cancel the dialogue, the same error message as above is shown.

By this, do you mean that the shared directories have Unix permissions
of 0755 (rwxr-xr-x)?

I have an smb.conf here almost identical to yours (except for the
workgroup name and 'load printers = yes'), and I can browse to anonymous
usershares just fine with nautilus. What's the precise error message

[Bug 216847] [NEW] sshd will not start at boot

2008-04-13 Thread sektor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openssh-server

The sshd will not start at boot if the ListenAddress option in
/etc/ssh/sshd_config is set to an IPv4 address other then 0.0.0.0 .

I am using Ubuntu 7.10 and the version 1:4.6p1-5ubuntu0.2 of the openssh-server
package.
I would expect that sshd is started after boot but it will not and I found this
in /var/log/auth.log:

sshd[4527]: error: Bind to port 22 on 10.1.1.22 failed: Cannot assign requested
address.
sshd[4527]: fatal: Cannot bind any address.

Once the System is started you can start/stop the sshd with the
/etc/init.d/ssh script without any problems.

smb.conf should be default, shares are done by net usershare through the
Nautilus GUI.

In fact, even the Ubuntu machine running the samba server can't access
