[Bug 218032] [NEW] Hardy Heron: Adding SMB printer fails

2008-04-15 Thread socceroos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

When adding an SMB printer in Hardy Heron, with authentication required,
it fails at the very last step saying:

There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-not-
possible'.

I am absolutely positive that my login credentials are correct, when
clicking the 'verify' button it returns 'success'.

I have Hardy Heron with all the latest updates as at 16th April 2008

** Description changed:

  1. This bug allows for an authenticated user to crash the mysql server
- using simple '@@' select queries on 64 architectures. This bug only
+ using simple '@@' select queries on 64-bit architectures. This bug only
affects Ubuntu 6.06 and 6.10. 7.04 and later are not affected.

  2. The bug was fixed in upstream release 5.0.25. The bug is
http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=20908. All versions of mysql in Dapper
  are affected (5.0.21-3ubuntu1 and 5.0.22-0ubuntu6.06.9).

  3. Attached is the debdiff for the patch. It is based on
http://lists.mysql.com/commits/10782 which had to be lightly adapted for
the test cases only. The patch fixes the source code and also adds test
cases to the mysql-test build test suite.

  4. TEST CASE:
To reproduce the bug, do on a Dapper 64 bit machine (eg amd64):
  $ sudo apt-get install mysql-server-5.0
  $ mysql -u root -p
  mysql> select @@@VERSION;

  5. The regression potential is believed to be negligible. The changes

If possible can you provide your samba log files when this happens. They
should be in /var/log/samba. Or if possible can you run smbclient with
-debuglevel 10.

Thanks

[Bug 84209] Re: subselect bug in amd64 compiled version

2008-04-15 Thread Jamie Strandboge
In investigating another issue, I came across this bug. The patch for
http://lists.mysql.com/commits/15001 is dependent upon the patches for
http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=8804. 8804 does not apply cleanly and
probably requires at least one additional patch that needs to be
identified. Based on the comments in 8804, the patch for
http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=23485 is likely also desirable.

I am not actively working on this bug and am simply passing along what I
found in my research.

[Bug 217964] [NEW] apache2.conf missing many language encodings

2008-04-15 Thread Chris Jones
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apache2

Our apache2.conf has a few languages defined with AddLanguage, however,
it does not cover the full ISO-639-1 list of languages (e.g. Finnish -
fi - is missing).

According to RFC2616 (HTTP/1.1 specification, 1999), the content of the
Accept-Language header is that of RFC1766 (Tags for the Identification of
Languages, 1995), which refers to ISO-639 as a source of language codes, so it
seems reasonable to list all of the codes.
As for 3 character codes, the specs are not clear. Although the W3C's FAQ[0]
does suggest that a later RFC, 3066, should be given attention when dealing
with this HTTP field, the older RFC1766 pre-dates ISO 639-2.

Whether or not 3 character codes should be included for languages with
no 2 character code, using the MultiViews feature on Dapper may produce
confusing/broken results. (Not yet tested on Hardy)

It will not be possible for me to provide this debugging output, as we
have switched to Exim for this particular implementation, and this is

[Bug 189616] Re: connection problems under load with hardy dovecot

2008-04-15 Thread Mathias Gug
I've spent some time trying to reproduce this problem but all my
attempts have been unsuccessful so far.

Using a hardy dovecot server, I've tried to reproduce the unable to
connect problem. I ran tests with ~ 200 clients connecting concurrently.
I hit the default login_max_processes_count limit (set to 128). Once
raised to 256, all clients were able to successfully login. I've
attached the scripts used to do the test.

I copied your config into my /etc/ldap/ldap.conf (changing the base
parameter), and using "TLS_REQCERT allow" worked fine for me. I use "never"
because my LDAP server is using a self-signed cert, and there used to be
issues without setting that option. The server I'm testing with was
upgraded from Dapper to Hardy.

I was just wondering if you are using libnss-ldap? Could it possibly be a
setting in /etc/ldap.conf?

[Bug 217159] Re: slapd + gnutls fails

2008-04-15 Thread svimes
... but TLS_REQCERT never in the client confs helps, but makes me
wonder:

$ man ldap.conf

TLS_REQCERT

never The client will not request or check any server certificate.

This probably should not be the case. Previously has worked, which
is still a bit dubious.

allow The server certificate is requested. If no certificate is provided,
the session proceeds normally. If a bad certificate is
provided, it will be ignored and the session proceeds normally.

Is there any way to make it work with for example?

This is not a major thing and thanks for your help, in pointing out the obvious
problem. :)
Shouldn't trust and old config, I guess. :)

For the sake of documentation here are the client confs:

$ cat /etc/ldap/ldap.conf
#
# LDAP Defaults
#

# See ldap.conf(5) for details
# This file should be world readable but not world writable.

URI ldaps://127.0.0.1/
BASE dc=nnn,dc=nnn
TLS_REQCERT never

$ cat /etc/ldap.conf
base dc=nnn,dc=nnn
uri ldaps://127.0.0.1/
timelimit 120
bind_timelimit 120
idle_timelimit 3600
ssl on
pam_password exop
bind_policy soft
TLS_CACERTFILE /etc/pki/tls/certs/ca.nnn.nnn.crt
TLS_REQCERT never

Any comments on those? I've also dabbled with the nss_initgroups_ignoreusers
parameter, but
don't have any conclusive results on that.

That was the first thing I stumbled upon, so I don't think it's that.
Slapd won't start if it can't read the pki files. I've adjusted the
apparmor profile as follows:

I can't this to work either. Are you supposed to just be able to login
via gdm with an AD account or do the local users matching the AD users
still have to be set up?

[Bug 158341] [NEW] Samba is still a pain in kubuntu

2008-04-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Despite all the other samba discussions going on in general and in
gnome, the kubuntu-desktop should simply download and install the samba
server, when sharing a folder is request, hence it doenst violate the
ubuntu no open ports rules. Also using security should remain user, as I
certainly do not intend to share with anyone whos on the net, i refrain
from using smbpasswd in console, so there should be a sweet and simple
tool to set up samba passwords and useraccounts, making sharing less a
pain than it is right now. Ive seen all the described above working like
a charm in other distributions, though it shouldnt be to hard to adopt
it.
