[Bug 39484] Re: cups smb printing backend no longer works

2008-04-16 Thread socceroos
If you have a look at the original bug report at the top of this page
you can see how I would figure that it is related (uuuh, the same
error?). Whats more, I'm not spamming this bug with my own, if you read
this post please (just above mine): "No one has confirmed this bug is
still on hardy, marking it as invalid, please feel free to reopen the
bug report if someone can reproduce it on hardy."

I added this because I'm still experiencing problems adding SMB printers
and this bug was so close to the one I was going to report that I
thought it would be best to add something here rather than open up a
'duplicate' report.

[Bug 218311] [NEW] upgrade from slapd from dapper to hardy fails on DB conversion

2008-04-16 Thread Martin Emrich
Public bug reported:

I just tried to upgrade a server with openldap from dapper to hardy (I
pulled an image from the dapper server and am doing a dry-run in a
virtualbox now).

During the upgrade, the slapd postinst script somehow crashed in an
intermediate state, and the upgrade aborted shortly after that.

When I try "dpkg --configure slapd" now, I get this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/lib/ldap# LANG=C dpkg --configure slapd
Setting up slapd (2.4.7-6ubuntu3) ...
  Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.conf in /var/backups/slapd-2.2.26-5ubuntu2.6...
done.
  Upgrading BDB 'checkpoint' options... .
  Moving old database directories to /var/backups:

  Backup path /var/backups/dc=darkzone-2.2.26-5ubuntu2.6.ldapdb exists. Giving
up...
dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 slapd

After removing the mentioned backup, I get this:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/lib/ldap# LANG=C dpkg --configure slapd
Setting up slapd (2.4.7-6ubuntu3) ...
  Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.conf in /var/backups/slapd-2.2.26-5ubuntu2.6...
done.
  Upgrading BDB 'checkpoint' options... .
  Moving old database directories to /var/backups:
  - directory dc=darkzone... done.
  Loading from /var/backups/slapd-2.2.26-5ubuntu2.6:
  - directory dc=darkzone... failed.

Loading the database from the LDIF dump failed with the following
error while running slapadd:
/var/backups/slapd-2.2.26-5ubuntu2.6/dc=darkzone.ldif: No such file or
directory
dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 slapd

When I remove both, I get this:
Setting up slapd (2.4.7-6ubuntu3) ...
  Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.conf in /var/backups/slapd-2.2.26-5ubuntu2.6...
done.
  Upgrading BDB 'checkpoint' options... .
  Moving old database directories to /var/backups:
  Loading from /var/backups/slapd-2.2.26-5ubuntu2.6:
  - directory dc=darkzone... failed.

Loading the database from the LDIF dump failed with the following
error while running slapadd:
/var/backups/slapd-2.2.26-5ubuntu2.6/dc=darkzone.ldif: No such file or
directory
dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 slapd

I have pulled an LDIF dump from the (still untouched) original server and
rebuilt the database, so my LDAP is up and running again. How can I tell the
postinst script that these actions are not necessary?

I have made a snapshot of the VM before starting the upgrade, and I'll
investigate what went wrong after the first upgrade dry-run went
through.

Ciao

Martin

[Bug 197606] Re: Invalid db.table name 'g2_AccessMap' at /usr/bin/mysqlhotcopy line 845

2008-04-16 Thread s.fussenegger
Same problem here

using hardy:
ii  libdbd-mysql-perl  4.005-1
   A Perl5 database interface to the MySQL data
ii  libmysqlclient15off5.0.51a-3ubuntu5
   MySQL database client library
ii  mysql-client-5.0   5.0.51a-3ubuntu5
   MySQL database client binaries
ii  mysql-common   5.0.51a-3ubuntu5
   MySQL database common files
ii  mysql-server-5.0   5.0.51a-3ubuntu5
   MySQL database server binaries

from mysqlhotcopy

sub quote_names {
  my ( $name ) = @_;
  # given a db.table name, add quotes

  my ($db, $table, @cruft) = split( /\./, $name );
  die "Invalid db.table name '$name'" if (@cruft || !defined $db || !defined
$table );

  # Earlier versions of DBD return table name non-quoted,
  # such as DBD-2.1012 and the newer ones, such as DBD-2.9002
  # returns it quoted. Let's have a support for both.
  $table=~ s/\`//g;
  return "`$db`.`$table`";
}

so $name should be database.table rather than table only. maybe this was
caused by the fix for bug 162393

[Bug 112023] Re: File transfer to windows hangs

2008-04-16 Thread Illuvator
Interestingly I have been having this problem on Hardy server. This isnt
on VMWare this is on an actual box, which although old appears to be
working fine. All network processes seem to have issues, falling into
some form of hang after a while, but I am posting here because the error
declared by the windows box is exactly as above: "The specified network
name is no longer available" I am not sure what is causing this, but it
certainly doesnt happen on gutsy, only on a test box with hardy on it.
Is there any further ideas on what is causing this?

[Bug 39484] Re: cups smb printing backend no longer works

2008-04-16 Thread Steve Langasek
This bug is a segfault of the smb cups backend that was fixed in Ubuntu
6.06. Please do not use it as a generic dumping ground for reporting
issues with smb printing problems. In particular, "Local authentication
certificate not found!" is *not* an error message indicating the
presence of this bug.

socceroos, your log clearly shows that you are unable to authenticate to
the print server. That's unrelated to this bug, and most likely not a
bug at all but a configuration error.

Closing this bug again.
