[Bug 223494] [NEW] Apache2 fails to start properly after upgrade to Hardy from Gutsy

2008-04-28 Thread Stephen Hill
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from Gutsy to Hardy Heron. Apache2 now doesn't appear to
start. I was serving gallery2 from it.

When apache2 is being started there are no errors generated but I cannot find
any apache2 processes running and sudo apache2ctl stop produces: httpd (no
pid file) not running. Also Apache2s error log hasn't been updated since the
upgrade. sudo apache2ctl start produces no errors either. netstat -l shows
no port 80 being listened on either. daemon.log doesn't show apache either!
Someone reported a while ago that apache2-mpm-worker was now needed in Hardy,
but when I try to install it, it tries to uninstall php5, which I'm using for
gallery2.

Strangely webmin is still working (on port 1).

2008-04-28 Thread Daniel James
Me too...

A work around is to install the Gutsy libjasper and libmagic9:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/j/jasper/
From there I installed libjasper-1.701-1_1.701.0-2_i386.deb

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/i/imagemagick/
From there I installed libmagick9_6.2.4.5-0.6_i386.deb

[Bug 106146] Re: Cannot mount cifs shares as normal user on directories not owned by the user

2008-04-28 Thread DonQuichote
I had the problem that I could mount the shares through /etc/fstab, but
did not have the rights on them afterwards, even though I owned the
mount points. I solved it by adding uid=username to the fstab lines.

Hope this helps.

Marking as triaged. 'adduser nut nut' fixes the problem. This should
probably be SRU'd as it renders upsd unusable.

2008-04-28 Thread Chuck Short
Statement of Impact:

Slapd crashes when doing a time stamp modification. I was able to
reproduce this readily in hardy.

how this bug has been addressed:

I have attached the patch that fixes this issue for hardy. It is
basically a 2 line patch that has been already commited upstream. It is
supposedly fixed in debian and it will be fixed for intrepid when it is
open.

How to reproduce this bug:

See previous comment.

Regressions: I dont think there are any regressions with this patch
applied.

2008-04-28 Thread Martin Pitt
+# Make sure that the nut group actually exists
+adduser nut nut

First, the comment and command do not match. This will *not* create a
nut group. Second, this is missing a test whether both the user and the
group have a system ID (100 = id 500). Third, this call looks really
weird in the first place. How is this system user created? The standard
way to do this is adduser --system nut --group --no-create-home, which
will take care of properly creating the system group as well.

2008-04-28 Thread Martin Pitt
Chuck, thanks for reproducing and the patch. Please provide a detailled
changelog entry which accompanies the patch and upload to hardy-proposed
when you are ready.

BTW, the regression part of the SRU policy is to estimate the worst
possilble regression, not the actual set of regressions this patch
introduced (if these were known, we wouldn't apply it in the first place
:-) ).

Thanks, Pitti

[Bug 218899] Re: upgrade to hardy: user openldap is not added to group sasl

2008-04-28 Thread Martin Emrich
Hi!

I have a pretty simple setup with libnss-ldap and libpam-ldap authenticating a
locally running slapd, which in turn authenticates against sasldb. I have no
saslauthd or so running.
Before upgrading from dapper to hardy, slapd ran as root, and thus was able to
access /etc/sasldb2. After the upgrade, slapd now runs as a new system user
openldap.

I think this bug should be moved from source package cyrus-sasl2 to
openldap2.3.

Ciao

Martin

[Bug 223572] [NEW] ldap_auth library usage

2008-04-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After an upgrade from 6.06 to 8.04 :

The binary ldap_auth, distributed as part of squid, requires two
libraries, which it thinks are called libldap_r.so.2 and liblber,so,2

These exist in 8.04 as
libldap-2.4.so.2 - libldap_r-2.4.so.2
and
liblber-2.4.so.2 - liblber-2.4.so.2.0.3

But the names are wrong in ldap_auth

Fix:

Add symbolic links in to /lib :
libldap_r.so.2 → libldap_r-2.4.so.2
liblber.so.2 → liblber-2.4.so.2
