[Bug 223494] [NEW] Apache2 fails to start properly after upgrade to Hardy from Gutsy
Public bug reported: I upgraded from Gutsy to Hardy Heron. Apache2 now doesn't appear to start. I was serving gallery2 from it. When apache2 is being started there are no errors generated but I cannot find any apache2 processes running and sudo apache2ctl stop produces: httpd (no pid file) not running. Also Apache2s error log hasn't been updated since the upgrade. sudo apache2ctl start produces no errors either. netstat -l shows no port 80 being listened on either. daemon.log doesn't show apache either! Someone reported a while ago that apache2-mpm-worker was now needed in Hardy, but when I try to install it, it tries to uninstall php5, which I'm using for gallery2. Strangely webmin is still working (on port 1). It is basically a 2 line patch that has been already commited upstream. It is supposedly fixed in debian and it will be fixed for intrepid when it is open. [Bug 222761] Re: [SRU] upsd doesn't start NOT 221737
+# Make sure that the nut group actually exists +adduser nut nut First, the comment and command do not match. This will *not* create a nut group. Second, this is missing a test whether both the user and the group have a system ID (100 = id 500). Third, this call looks really weird in the first place. How is this system user created? The standard way to do this is adduser --system nut --group --no-create-home, which will take care of properly creating the system group as well. -- [SRU] upsd doesn't start NOT 221737 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222761 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nut in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 218899] Re: upgrade to hardy: user openldap is not added to group sasl
Hi! I have a pretty simple setup with libnss-ldap and libpam-ldap authenticating a locally running slapd, which in turn authenticates against sasldb. I have no saslauthd or so running. Before upgrading from dapper to hardy, slapd ran as root, and thus was able to access /etc/sasldb2. After the upgrade, slapd now runs as a new system user openldap.
