[Bug 176015] Re: BGP MD5 support regression

2008-05-17 Thread Chuck Short
I have updated the patch from the mailing list. Without this patch
quagga will not work correctly.

TEST CASE:

1. Install quagga.
2. Start quagga to see if the listen socket has the md5 option set.

NOTE: This should be done who has experience with quagga to make sure
that it is working properly. I have added the updated patch.

Thanks
chuck

[Bug 231313] [NEW] [Hardy] /usr/share/doc/apache2/README.Debian is a broken symlink

2008-05-17 Thread Jakob Unterwurzacher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apache2

In the package apache2 2.2.8-1 :
/usr/share/doc/apache2/README.Debian points to
../apache2.2-common/README.Debian which doesn't exist.
/usr/share/doc/apache2/README.Debian should be renamed to .gz and linked to

[Bug 217159] Re: slapd + gnutls fails

2008-05-17 Thread Brian May
There seems to be some confusion here.

TLS_REQCERT on the client tells the client if it should check the server
certificate or not.

This is different whether or not the server checks the client
certificate or not.

I am having problems with the client checking the server certificate
(#231321), where changing TLS_REQCERT will help (but this presumably
will decrease the security because the server certificate is not
checked).

This bug report started of by saying that the server having problems
with the client certificate.

[Bug 231212] Re: UPS services does not autostart during boot.

2008-05-17 Thread Anders Häggström
I have now updated to version 2.2.1-2.1ubuntu7.1 (amd64) but the upstart
/init-script does not work. Not starting nor stopping the service.
Manual start is still working but is, at least in my case, unwanted.

During boot i get the following (as I also did before this update):
* Starting Network UPS Tools [ OK ]

PS. Why was this bug marked as invalid? Is it a normal behavior for this
software to not start up the service when signaling to do so? A little longer
explanation of this behavior would b nice, thank you.

[Bug 231212] Re: UPS services does not autostart during boot.

2008-05-17 Thread Anders Häggström
I find this bug as a duplicate for Bug #221737 or Bug #222761

In /etc/default/nut i changed this:
# start upsd
START_UPSD=yes
...
# start upsmon
START_UPSMON=yes
and now it works.

Why is the default behavior set not to autostart? And I think it is very
confusing to print Startup OK when the service does not start up
during boot. But now I at least understand why this bug was marked as
invalid.

Anders

[Bug 230878] Re: Apache 2 produces an OOM after 4 hours using

2008-05-17 Thread sf
It would also be interesting to know what apache modules you have
enabled and how the output of top looks just before the OOM situation
(i.e. are there many large apache2 processes or only a few very large
ones?).

You could also try tweaking memory_limit in your php.ini.

[Bug 231313] Re: [Hardy] /usr/share/doc/apache2/README.Debian is a broken symlink

2008-05-17 Thread Jakob Unterwurzacher
Nope - they depend on apache2.2-common, which is all what they need to
 work.

It's some documentation in there that's nice to have (
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/all/apache2/filelist ), but i just
noticed that every file there is duplicated in apache2.2-common (
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/i386/apache2.2-common/filelist ). Which
is a little strange but OK - that way you'll get the documentation even
without apache2.

[Bug 221737] Re: upsd doesn't start on system startup

2008-05-17 Thread Anders Häggström
I agree to Mathias, this is a strange behavior. In my opinion a newly
installed service should autostart, or at least give a hint during
installation that a configuration is needed before it is able to start
up, and a short description how to accomplish that.

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 server (amd64) and nut version 2.2.1-2.1ubuntu7.1 and
experience this same behavior.
A fix for this bug/behavior could be one of the following:
1) Change the default behavior to autostart the service and change the
startup/init-script to signal No configuration file is found during boot, if
that is the case, and return Failed.
2) Leave a message in the end of the installation that nut needs to be
configured before it can be started, and include the START_UPSD=yes options
in the config-files so you do not have to edit /etc/defaults/nut
3) Change the default behavior to autostart and try to autoconfigure nut during
post-installation, as described in Bug #129523

Note, the following is just a cross-reference to my duplicate: Bug
#231212

Jeremy, that would be great! To test the package, just enable hardy-

quagga (or just dist-upgrade, to test all the other pending updates as
well). If you are testing this with GNOME, you can also activate it in

2008-05-17 Thread mike33

I found the resolution to my slow Samba transfers with this bug report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/211884

In short, the problem:
Connection speed set by the nm-applet is always 1 Mb/s (when it should be 54
Mb/s)

The solution:
#sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M (courtesy of Christian Mangold).

Not sure about my exact transfer rates, but my 350MB file is now taking
~6mins vs. 186mins
