[Bug 209520] Re: SMB error: Unable to mount location when server configured with security=share
Updated the gvfs and samba related packages from hardy-proposed. Trying to reach a Windows Server 2003 share in an Active Directory domain environment through Nautilus' "Connect to Server..." resulted in the following message box after supplying the login info: "Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of "smb": The specified location is not mounted" Upon reloading the same Nautilus window, it produced the original "Unable to mount" message. Both before and after the update, connecting to a share on the server with smbclient works as intended (using the -U and -W arguments to specify login info). I have talked about this to Sebastien Bacher earlier this month, but I guess it should be made public that I have talked to my supervisor at work about this and we can provide remote access to a Hardy box in a Windows Server 2003 domain environment for testing purposes. I would like to ask the developers to contact me if this will be needed and we will discuss the details in private. -- SMB error: Unable to mount location when server configured with security=share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/209520 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 241448] Re: Playing from Samba SMB shared folder now is not possible (it could be done until last upgrade).
After talking with Chuck Short, it sounds like changes to libsmbclient in hardy-proposed (3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.3) may fix this. Please note, the security update for samba is based on 3.0.28a- 1ubuntu4.1 from -updates for Hardy, so people who were only using 3.0 .28a-1ubuntu4 then got the 4.1 changes as well as the 4.2 security fixes. As it appears that all the clients are using Hardy, it may be something in the 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4 to 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.1 that is causing the problem. -- Playing from Samba SMB shared folder now is not possible (it could be done until last upgrade). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 242383] Re: default postfix config creates backscatter
Two more potential (somewhat less good) solutions: 1: You can set smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, reject_unauth_destination, reject_unknown_recipient_domain then your host will accept mail for existent-sub.domain.com but not non- existent-sub.domain.com (this is done by the reject_unknown_recipient_domain). Unfortunately, this will accept mail for any hostname that has an A record, regardless of if an MX is running there or not. 2: You can use the techniques described here: http://www.postfix.org/ADDRESS_VERIFICATION_README.html Unfortunately this uses a lot of resources and might get you blacklisted by more aggressive mail providers (or rather, mail providers that don't appreciate your particular variety of aggressiveness). -- default postfix config creates backscatter https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242383 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to postfix in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 242383] Re: default postfix config creates backscatter
Note: setting 'relay_domains =' also fixes the problem: it seems that postfix will accept mail for delivery by virtue of it being in relay_domains -or- mydestination.
[Bug 242383] [NEW] default postfix config creates backscatter
Public bug reported: The postfix config file has a 'mydestination' parameter. This is the domains for which your mailserver will deliver mail locally. It also has a 'relay_domains' parameter. This is the domains for which your mailserver will accept mail for delivery from remote untrusted hosts. As a matter of course, your 'mydestination' should be included here since you want to be able to receive mail for yourself as a precondition for delivering it. To this end, very sanely, the default setting is: relay_domains = $mydestination Unfortunately, there is another configuration parameter 'parent_domain_matches_subdomains'. This parameter is very evil. It lists the names of *other* configuration parameters for which 'domain.com' should be interpreted as '*.domain.com'. It includes 'relay_domains' in its default list. So for example: mydestination = domain.com then, by default, relay_domains will also equal domain.com. *but* relay_domains is _interpreted_ as being *.domain.com. This means that if someone attempts to send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] existent-sub.domain.com your server will (1) accept it (2) attempt to relay it, but notice the subdomain doesn't exist (3) generate backscatter The default setup for the mailserver should clearly be that it refuses to accept mail not destined for it from untrusted hosts. The fix for this is to add 'parent_domain_matches_subdomains =' (ie: set it to empty). Even the postfix documentation says this feature will be disabled soon: This is planned backwards compatibility: eventually, all Postfix features are expected to require explicit ".domain.tld" style patterns when you really want to match subdomains. -- http://www.postfix.org/postconf.5.html#parent_domain_matches_subdomains Cheers ** Affects: postfix (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- default postfix config creates backscatter https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242383 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to postfix in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libldap-2.4-2 Description:Ubuntu 8.04 Release:8.04 libldap-2.4-2: Installed: 2.4.7-6ubuntu4.2 Version table: *** 2.4.7-6ubuntu4.2 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.4.7-6ubuntu3 0 500 http://be.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages Switching to gnutls for openldap in Hardy introduced a regression by breaking the TLS_CACERTDIR option in /etc/ldap/ldap.conf. [Bug 231004] SRU Report
Bug Impact: nagios2 is configured by default with notification commands that make use of /bin/mail rather than /usr/bin/mail. That forces all Nagios users to fix this default configuration file if they want to make use of mail-based notifications (which is a very common use case). This is more a "user experience of Ubuntu integration" bug, and it can easily be workaround-ed with a one-time config file fix. Affected supported releases: feisty, gutsy, hardy. Given the type of bug (only first-time installs affected) I would propose SRU-ing it for hardy only. Development branch fix: nagios3 is shipped with Intrepid. This series has a configure file fix that allows to generate correct default configuration files in the build process. Minimal patch: see previous comment. TEST CASE: $ sudo apt-get install nagios2 $ grep mail /etc/nagios2/commands.cfg [ shows that commands.cfg calls /bin/mail for notification commands, should be /usr/bin/mail ] I can also provide a more complex test case (involving Nagios configuration) where those notifications would be used and trigger an error message. Regression potential discussion: This update only impacts the commands.cfg file, to replace occurences of /bin/mail with /usr/bin/mail. I don't think it could break anything. ** Changed in: nagios2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium => Low Status: In Progress => Confirmed -- Path to 'mail' incorrect in /etc/nagios2/commands.cfg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231004 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nagios2 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
