[Bug 247332] Re: Please add a script to allow filter services to be programatically added to master.cf
23:15] 'twould be nice if USAGE were a function, just to have it not evaluate every run - but that's a nit [23:15] and very minor grumbles about you making me update debian/copyright [23:16] could you pretty please pick one of the standard licenses, and name it? [23:16] OK. [23:16] * ScottK tries to remember [23:16] I don't care if it's the postfix license, or another non-conflicting one [23:16] That's MIT license. [23:17] and I think PEP-8 (?) or somewhere wants imports to be one per line [23:17] or such [23:17] OTOH, you're much closer to PEP-8 that most of my stuff before I started paying attention to it under threat of pain [23:18] I also tend to make a function called __main__ or such and just say if __name__ == '__main__': \n __main__() [23:18] which gives me something I can call when I'm playing with python -i and such [23:19] Right. [23:19] I looked and PEP-8 says one per line. [23:20] so general feedback would be PEP-8 conformance, the muttering about main() and USAGE, and otherwise a handwavy "looks at least not-unreasonable, if not just plain reasonable, +1" [23:21] and is shutil all the rage these days? /me hasn't ever used it [23:21] while understanding that it may be the new hotness and I'm not. :) [23:21] OK. The one functional shortcut that it takes that might be an excessive one is it just assumes if the name of the smtpd you want setup appears anywhere in master.cf it's a bad idea. [23:22] The shutil usage is a result of, "Gee, never had to do that before, let's see what the shiny new edition of Python in a Nutshell has to say about it." [23:23] Honestly I don't want to go to the effort to make it smart enough to do the case where it has to find out if it's a duplicative service name or something else. [23:23] Maybe I just add MIT to common-licenses and make it easy. [23:24] anywhere as in anywhere? or anywhere as first token? [23:25] Anywhere like it parses line by line through your master.cf and if it finds the string you gave as your desired service name it says no thanks. [23:25] And stops. [23:25] For a helper script like this I think it's better to bail out in the face of any uncertainty that to try to be to smart about it. [23:26] The use case I'm thinking about it you don't want to run it twice by accident and end up adding the same service two times in master.cf. -- Please add a script to allow filter services to be programatically added to master.cf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/247332 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to postfix in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 253743] [NEW] [SRU] Add status to init script
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apache2 In intrepid we included apache2 which does have 'status' function in init script. This is needed cause, at the moment, redhat-cluster-suite requires init scripts to have 'status' function. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bacula-director-pgsql Release: hardy Version: 2.2.8-5ubuntu7 The postinst script of bacula-director-pgsql package create the bacula postgresql catalog in UTF8. Bacula doesn't work with a postgresql DB using UFT8 encoding. If users try to backup non-UTF8 files (ISO8859 for example) then postgresql will refuse to insert filename into the database. This issue is documented on bacula documentation http://www.bacula.org/en/rel-manual/Installi_Configur_PostgreS.html#SECTION00522 To correct this, the package have to dump/drop/create/restore the bacula database. (default timer=0 -> no > automatism) This is handled by the patches for Bug #120375. With that code, you are able to provide on the kernel boot parameters one of: * bootdegraded=true * bootdegraded=false The default is 'false'. The timer is fixed at 30 seconds, which will be spent in 0.1 second intervals, looking for new devices that might have shown up, or a clean RAID device. :-Dustin -- root raid installs have bad grub config https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/33649 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is a direct subscriber. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 237115] [NEW] nscd: nss_ldap: server is unavailable
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: libnss-ldapd Since Hardy's release, when doing e kerberos connexion, a refusal to open a gdm session may occur. Error message in gdm is : "The system administrator had temporarily disabled connexion to this system". In auth.log: "nscd: nss_ldap: server is unavailable" The problem occurs in the "account" phase, when the user account information is beng pulled. The kerberos authentication is successful but the user is not know by the system. when this occurs, from another session we can do a: # getent passwd user_having_issue and we do not get a reply. After a certain time lapse, without any change to the setup, the user becomes known again. Note: during this period, other users are tested and work succesfully, which shows that the ldap server does function properly. To understand the issue better, a network trace was done and it can be seen that on the TCP connexion use by the request 1- earlier: the LDAP server sent a end tcp session packet (FIN) 2- nssldap sends back an ACK 3- nssldap continues on using this connexion that he acknoledged closing To try to go around the issue, it was tried to configure nsslap to not use persistent connexion (ldap.conf : nss_connect_policy oneshot), but once this is applied and the client rebooted, then gdm crashes consistently at each authentication try (clearly identified in syslog). The crash goes away after restoring the original config (nss_connect_policy persist). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: libnss-ldap (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nscd: nss_ldap: server is unavailable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/237115 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libnss-ldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
