[Bug 267802] Re: Home Folder for Nagios is wiped on Reboot

2008-09-09 Thread Thierry Carrez
The examples talk about using the -i option to provide a key. That might
be sufficient. If the known_hosts part still use /var, then I think it
is a case where the global /etc/ssh/ssh_known_hosts should be edited. If
that's not sufficient, provide a -o parameter to pass the
UserKnownHostsFile or IgnoreUserKnownHosts option.

[Bug 74164] Re: Request ntp-servers by default

2008-09-09 Thread giner
My solution for ntp-servers request from DHCP server (Ubuntu 8.04.1):

1) add 'ntp-servers' to the 'request' in /etc/dhcpd3/dhclient.conf;
2) change 'NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF=yes' to NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF=no in
/etc/default/ntpdate;
3) execute 'sudo ntpdate-debian' for testing.

[Bug 268364] Re: Bug in /usr/bin/ucf when upgrading Hardy

2008-09-09 Thread Benjamin Drung
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important
for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn
more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a
bug in samba-common.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications
have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the
Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are
having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at

Re: [Bug 267802] Re: Home Folder for Nagios is wiped on Reboot

2008-09-09 Thread Chad Skeeters
I think I agree with your points. I'm also still concerned that it's
hard to figure that out and I'm wondering if there is some other
change that can be made to help make RSA Authentication more
intuitive.

Most of my remote checks are via ssh, but they are run via the
check_by_ssh plugin since that's what comes with the software. When
new people look through the available plugins, they will likely notice
it and try to make use of it. However, I don't see an option that
allows a nagios specific configuration file to be specified and the
examples on http://nagiosplugins.org/man/check_by_ssh don't show
anything about specifying the config file either. Would I have to
modify check_by_ssh and add a "-config" parameter in order to utilize
your suggestion, or is there some easier way I don't know about?

You probably need to substitute both [ and ], e.g.:

  get "selene\[_ \]"

(I suspect OpenSSH 5.1p1 in Intrepid has more sensible handling here,
although I haven't tested it; there was certainly a comment in the
upstream release notes about all this having been cleaned up.)

[Bug 228693] Re: [SRU] bacula-director-pgsql postinstall broken

2008-09-09 Thread Kern Sibbald
Thanks for upgrading to the 2.4.2 version, which is much more stable
than 2.4.0 and 2.4.1.

One additional consideration when producing Bacula packages. I
regularly release well tested patches to bugs to the bacula-bugs section
of the Source Forge release are. When you are building new packages,
you might want to check what has been released there. Sometimes the
fixes are trivial, but other times, they are important.

These patches are also available in the current branch Branch-2.4 and
the trunk SVN (now imported to Lauchpad Bazaar) in bacula/patches and
are all named 2.4.2-xxx.patch. It is possible from time to time that
the patches are order dependent, so they should be applied in order of
their date. In the Notes section of the Source Forge bacula-bugs
release the patches are listed with the most recent one on top.

Finally, the documentation on what the patch fixes or possibly fixes, if
we don't have a positive confirmation, and how to apply the patches is
at the top of each patch file.

Personally, I prefer to pull the current Branch-2.4 rather than applying
patches, but everyone has his own way of handling these things.

If there is anything I can do to make this all easier for you, please
don't hesitate to let me know: kern at sibbald.com
