[Bug 277103] Re: [intrepid] freeradius modules are missing

2008-10-03 Thread Christian Roessner
After a night of less sleep, I got the radius server running. If I may
speak honestly, I would suggest to create modules-available and modules-
enabled for modules derived from the old freeradius 1.x modules {}
section, i.e. ldap, pap, mschap, ...

The modules-section as about 1180 lines (including many comments), so to
not have the folder and some sample config snippets, users have exactly
to know, what they have to configure here.

A second point is the pidfile handling. The paths in radiusd.conf should
be:

run_dir = ${localstatedir}/run/freeradius
pidfile = ${run_dir}/freeradius.pid

otherwise freeradius won't start nor stop the service.

[Bug 162389] Re: ntp check is worse than useless

2008-10-03 Thread James Troup
 I can't reproduce this on my desktop machine or on my nagios server.

I can; with up-to-date hardy:

# /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_ntp -H 127.0.0.1; echo $?
NTP OK: Offset unknown|
0
# ntpq -p
No association ID's returned
#

 What version are you running (check_ntp -V)?

# /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_ntp -V
check_ntp v1861 (nagios-plugins 1.4.11)
#

 (And what does ntpdate -ud 127.0.0.1 show when you run it? If you
 don't have a running NTP server, it should say 127.0.0.1: Server
 dropped: no data somewhere in its output.)

# ntpdate -ud 127.0.0.1
 3 Oct 17:17:56 ntpdate[28773]: ntpdate [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Mar  7 20:36:59
UTC 2008 (1)

[...]

 3 Oct 17:17:56 ntpdate[28773]: no server suitable for synchronization found
#

 Also, the newer versions of nagios-plugins (in Hardy or later) are
 supposed to use check_ntp_peer (for seeing if an NTP server is up)
 and check_ntp_time (for seeing if the server's time is accurate);
 check_ntp is currently deprecated.

If it's deprecated and broken (which it is), surely it should be
removed?

[Bug 277704] [NEW] ssh fails with xmalloc: zero size

2008-10-03 Thread Jeff Hanson
Public bug reported:

The latest openssh client in Intrepid (1:5.1p1-1ubuntu2) fails to
connect to certain hosts such as HP ProCurve switches and dd-wrt
routers. Attempting to connect to one of these systems (and possible
other system types) results in the following error:

$ ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]
xmalloc: zero size
$

This is a known bug that has been fixed upstream:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=497026

The fix is in 5.1p1-3 (see the above bug report.)

Would it be possible to get this update in for Intrepid? Currently the
only workaround is to downgrade to 4.7p1-8ubuntu1
