[Bug 296952] Re: mysqlhotcopy failed on table with hyphen in name
In short, this is what has been happening to mysqlhotcopy. (Please correct me if I'm wrong. It's late and I'm tired.) DBD::mysql changed the behavior of $dbh->tables(), causing mysqlhotcopy to break. This was kind of handled by the $hc_locks-patch in 56 -mysqlhotcopy-invalid-dbtable.dpatch Later mysqlhotcopy was fixed more properly by replacing $dbh->tables() with a direct ""SHOW TABLES FROM `db`". Our problem is that we still apply 56-mysqlhotcopy-invalid- dbtable.dpatch, causing problem instead of fixing problems. By the way, http://lists.mysql.com/commits/32765 is a good read. -- mysqlhotcopy failed on table with hyphen in name https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296952 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 296952] Re: mysqlhotcopy failed on table with hyphen in name
Seems as if the problem is a not-longer-necessary ./patches/56 -mysqlhotcopy-invalid-dbtable.dpatch. I believe the patch was taken from http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=27303 Based on a comment to http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=27694 the original problem isn't longer an issue since MySQL 5.0.50. This I can kind of confirm. Using the Hardy mysqlhotcopy, and removing the double "$hc_locks =~ s/\`//g;", I can not reproduce the problem mentioned in http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=27303 -- mysqlhotcopy failed on table with hyphen in name https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296952 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 271922] Re: Default ACL not applied on files created through CIFS filesystem (mount.cifs)
And the mode being requested by the client is mediated by the umask. A full fix for this will require the client to set the mode atomically at file creation time, at a point where the samba server can apply the mode in the open call instead of as a separate chmod() call. [Bug 271922] Re: Default ACL not applied on files created through CIFS filesystem (mount.cifs)
Disabling Unix CIFS extensions with 'echo 0 > /proc/fs/cifs/LinuxExtensionsEnabled', the kernel cifs client now works for me (tested with the current jaunty kernel). Attached is a network trace showing the same operation ('touch file-cifs') with POSIX extensions disabled; the SET_FILE_INFO level is different ('File Basic Info' vs. 'File Unix Basic'), I don't see anything special in the /content/ of the file info request when POSIX extensions are enabled, so I think this should be considered a server bug. As an aside, if you're only using user mounts on the client, I would generally recommend POSIX extensions on the client independent of this particular bug, especially given a kernel (such as the one in hardy) that doesn't have CIFS_XATTRS turned on. Pros of using POSIX extensions for user-only mounts: - ability to create/use pipes and sockets - ability to use POSIX locking reliably - ? Cons of using POSIX extensions for user-only mounts: - if you ever authenticate to the server as a user whose remote uid is different from your local uid, the mount will be completely inaccessible to your user because of the pass-through ACL semantics The current default behavior of mount.cifs is unfortunately really only suitable for system-level mounts where the client and server have the same uid/gid mappings. ** Attachment added: "cifs-acl-ok-without-posix-extensions.pcap" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21603534/cifs-acl-ok-without-posix-extensions.pcap -- Default ACL not applied on files created through CIFS filesystem (mount.cifs) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/271922 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 271922] Re: Default ACL not applied on files created through CIFS filesystem (mount.cifs)
There's definitely a client difference here. When smbclient connects, it makes a single OpenAndX request; the kernel cifs client instead calls NTCreateAndX, followed by two SET_PATH_INFO Trans2 requests. The SET_PATH_INFO is probably what's clobbering the ACL. Partial network trace showing the cifs client requests attached. ** Attachment added: "cifs-write-missing-acl.pcap" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21602759/cifs-write-missing-acl.pcap -- Default ACL not applied on files created through CIFS filesystem (mount.cifs) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/271922 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I don't know why your system wasn't already fixed. Perhaps you simply didn't apply security updates for some reason, or perhaps you ran into some installer bug that meant that hardy-security wasn't in sources.list (though I'm astonished that at least hardy-updates wasn't there). [Bug 114505] Re: ntp brought up before network is ready; fails not resolve any ip or host names; ntp does not recover
I probably won't add anything new to this, but here it goes: I've just installed Hardy for a mail/dns/webserver with a NTP server also and I ran into this little 'bug'. - machine boots, NTP is stopped and started when eth0 (statically configured) comes up - down the line, NTP is again started with rc2.d/S23ntp (obviously nothing happens because it's already running) - I log in, check ntpq -p, i get nothing ("No association ID's returned"). I have my own DNS server running on localhost, and I have /etc/resolv.conf with nameserver 127.0.0.1 a.k.a. I'm using my own nameserver, which isn't available at network start, becase it starts later (but before S23). So this is a server install with little to none network ups/downs, nothing dynamic, nothing fancy, just the good old static network config, and the fact that the nameserver used is 127.0.0.1. I can see how one would try to do a good thing by (re)syncing the clock whenever the network is (re)started, but doing that for _every single network interface_ the machine has ? If I happen to have 3-4 interfaces, NTP gets restarted that many times, that's just silly. And what if I have eth1 for internal LAN and do an ifdown/ifup eth1 (because say I changed the IP address, or whatever), which has nothing to do with NTP ? It still gets restarted. [Bug 264943] Re: gvfsd-smb crashed with SIGSEGV in strlen()

[Bug 311277] Re: amavisd-new broken user (again) Intrepid
I can confirm this problem in Intrepid. Doing a full purge of amavisd- new doesn't remove the user amavis, hence causing the reinstall of amavisd-new to fail.
