[Bug 305901] Re: Intrepid gcc -O2 breaks string appending with sprintf(), due to fortify source patch
Actually : * On the time I've seen this problem, it was still there after three reboots. [Bug 322214] [NEW] php incorrectly opens stdin
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: php5 PHP appears to be opening stdin improperly. You can see the behavior by running: $ php -i | less Notice how less does not redraw the screen correctly, and pressing the up or down arrow keys results in ^[OB being written to the bottom of the screen. I think that this is because of a race condition between php and less. The following command does not have the problem: $ php -i /dev/null | less This has been reproduced on Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid as well as a clean Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy machine (with php-cli installed first, of course). It could not be reproduced on Debian 4.0 etch, or a minimal, clean build of PHP 5.2 off of the CVS source tree (on intrepid). I suspect one of Ubuntu's patches is causing this problem, but I don't know which. I copied/pasted my /etc/fstab from my working 8.10 box with the proposed kernel to my latest 9.04 install. It works. I'm able to browse the share, open documents, files, whatever else...even write to them. Never crashed once, unlike the old 8.10 that would crash almost instantly. [Bug 313959] Re: package update-manager 1:0.93.34 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: SystemError in cache.commit(): E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve Ubuntu. Failed three-way merges of config files are the responsibility of the package invoking ucf, not of ucf itself; it's the nature of three-way merges that some will always fail, and this is not a bug in ucf. [Bug 308647] Re: dhclient fails to be run during boot of Intrepid
Well, suppose I forget the hostname part (Alt-FN shows localhost.localdomain, even if a meaninfull value is in /etc/hostname, and seems to stay that after dhclient). Was having same problem after upgrading to Intrepid from Hardy. I uncommented (removed the #) the following line from /etc/network/intefaces: iface eth0 inet dhcp Then I renamed /etc/rc2.d/S28NetworkManager to /etc/rc2.d/K72NetworkManager to disable the NetworkManager. After that, Internet works fine again. I suppose the line was commented out of /etc/network/interfaces because NetworkManager should call dhcpclient itself when it is not configured but it does not? Anyway, the bug seems to be with NetworkManager not dhcp3 client. I know this is kinda old, but I had the exact same thing happen on a Xen VPS running 8.04.01 LTS as well. Made me flip out when everything stopped working. The answer is here: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenFaq#head- 0c65b14e7ee88a250189f43f83138a3f712d8e4e Under 4.1 of that FAQ: Some modern distributions ship with a 'TLS' version of glibc that is not fully compatible with Xen. To use Xen reliably and with maximum performance you must disable the incompatible glibc. You can easily do this by moving the /lib/tls directory (e.g., mv /lib/tls /lib/tls.disabled). Alternatively, install a Xen-specific GLIBC, see XenSpecificGlibc.
