[Bug 305264] Re: gnutls regression: failure in certificate chain validation

2009-02-19 Thread Steve Langasek
Further discussion led to the observation that OpenLDAP's gnutls support
is a port of the existing OpenSSL handling, and it's therefore
reasonable for openldap itself to enable the V1 CA cert option in order
to provide feature parity when building with GnuTLS vs. OpenSSL, even if
this is not altogether desirable from a security POV. I'm therefore
reopening the openldap tasks for those releases where openldap is linked
against GnuTLS.

The upstream discussion also points to regressions in behavior that are
side effects of the change, rather than deliberate security
enhancements, which should therefore be fixed in the gnutls26 package
still - so leaving those tasks open also.

[Bug 281882] Re: ssh hangs in initial handshaking when using IPv6

2009-02-19 Thread bdot
Just had the same exact problem logging from an Ubuntu 8.10 laptop
(OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-3ubuntu1, OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19 Oct 2007)   *TO*  and
OpenBSD 4.0 box. SSH would hang at:

debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEXINIT sent

I found this: http://kerneltrap.org/mailarchive/openbsd-
misc/2007/4/24/148531

and I added a "flags S/SA" to the lines which already contained a "keep
state". Reloaded pf and I immediately managed to connect.

BTW, I am using a wired connection (there are reports of ssh hanging
with wireless connections, but this is not the case)

nut (2.2.1-2.1ubuntu7.2) hardy-proposed; urgency=low

  * debian/{nut-cgi,nut-hal-drivers,nut}.preinst: don't call adduser or
addgroup *at all*, these operations should be handled in the postinst.
Since this is the only custom action at all for nut-cgi and
nut-hal-drivers, remove those two preinsts completely.
  * debian/{nut-cgi,nut-hal-drivers,nut}.postinst: add nut to the dialout
and nut groups unconditionally, to handle the upgrade from the hardy
release.  LP: #222761

I've released and uploaded 2.4.1 to Debian, but since it adds a new package
(nut-powerman-pdu ; I've left aside the 3 other nut-clients, python-pynut
and python-nut-gui to speed up the process...), its inclusion in Debian is
delayed.

I've forwarded the source to Dustin to be in time for jaunty freeze, but the
timezone lag doesn't help.

[Bug 105457] Re: mysqd_safe high cpu usage

2009-02-19 Thread Mrts
Same here -- 100% CPU with 32-bit iron (no virtualization). On Hardy
that should be long term supported.

It's quite serious, can anyone from Canonical comment on this?

[Bug 331444] Re: dhclient3-apparmor ifup script gets stuck if apparmor is not installed and securityfs is mounted

2009-02-19 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Marking confirmed and will add an additional check. However, the script
should not 'hang' or 'get stuck', but rather should 'wait a bit' in this
scenario. The script gives up if it can't find
/sys/kernel/security/apparmor/profiles (which is mounted by
/etc/init.d/apparmor) when it leaves rcS.

[Bug 331451] [NEW] Unable to connect to 3Com devices with 1:5.1p1-3ubuntu1

2009-02-19 Thread Ulrich Zehl
Public bug reported:

Using Intrepid's OpenSSH, I cannot connect to my 3Com network devices;
the connection simply fails after login.

I have done some research, and it seems that I'm hit by the same bug as
described in Debian #495917. I patched ssh 1:5.1p1-3ubuntu1 with the
patch from http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=495917#65,
and the problem was resolved.

The fix is in the Jaunty OpenSSH version already which I found after
trying manual patching. Since I'd rather not a use local backport, is
there any chance to get the patch in Intrepid as well?

Hi everyone.

I've installed a 9.04 Alpha-3 version onto a VMWare Windows-based-
machine, and my NAS disk worked fine with the software just out-of-the-
box.

Good news!!!

[Bug 331444] [NEW] dhclient3-apparmor ifup script gets stuck if apparmor is not installed

2009-02-19 Thread Vernon Tang
Public bug reported:

The dhclient3-apparmor script attempts to determine whether AppArmor is
enabled by checking /sys/module/apparmor/parameters/enabled. However, on
Ubuntu kernels this test usually passes even if the user-space
components are not installed/enabled. Thus, if the apparmor package is
not installed, the dhclient3-apparmor script will hang waiting for the
AppArmor profiles to load.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
Package: dhcp3-client 3.1.1-5ubuntu4

 LANG=en_HK.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash

the dummy-ups driver is there to help you!
configure ups.conf with the following:
[myups]
driver = dummy-ups
port = test.dev

Copy the below file as /etc/nut/test.dev and relaunch your tests:
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/nut/trunk/data/evolution500.dev?op=file&rev=0&sc=0

[Bug 330982] Re: old_passwords.cnf: No such file or directory

2009-02-19 Thread Martin Vysny
Thank you Mathias for quick reply. I did a simple sudo apt-get install
mysql-server (there is no X on the server machine, so no GUI package
manager). I am sure that it didn't prompt me for the password for the
first time I tried this (maybe somebody uninstalled mysql-server earlier
without purging it?). I couldn't guess the password so I tried to sudo
apt-get autoremove --purge mysql-server (which succeeded) and then sudo
apt-get install mysql-server again. This time it asked for the root
password correctly, however the installation failed with the above
error.
