[Bug 217159] Re: slapd + gnutls fails

2009-03-17 Thread elvis
Unfortunately I've decommissioned the machine. However I do know that I
didn't manually specify any TLSCipherSuite directives in the slapd.conf.

The hardy slapd.conf man (5) file still references the TLSCipherSuite
format accepted by OpenSSL (e.g.: "TLSCipherSuite HIGH:MEDIUM:+SSLv2"),
which caused slapd to fail in start as GnuTLS doesn't support this
format. As such I removed the directive (allowing all ciphers supported
by GnuTLS) which would allow slapd to start.

Similarly my ldap.conf didn't specify any cipher suite, and the gnutls-
cli testing above didn't either.

If I get time I will attempt to rebuild and retest from where I left
off.

[Bug 340437] Re: cannot get ip address from dhcp

2009-03-17 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Actually, just removing apparmor-utils should not prevent apparmor from
protecting applications, but it also shouldn't have helped your problem. Please
make sure you have the following installed when reporting back with the problem:
apparmor
apparmor-utils
libapparmor-perl
libapparmor1

Simply doing 'apt-get install apparmor apparmor-utils' should give you
everything you need.

Can you please post the contents of your /var/log/kern.log when you were
having the problem? Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingApparmor
for details.

I highly recommend you reinstall apparmor-utils otherwise all apparmor
protected programs are no longer protected. A better alternative is to
leave apparmor enabled and put the profile in complain mode. See the
above link for details.

[Bug 344281] [NEW] CIFS kernel bug crashes system

2009-03-17 Thread Jay Moore
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: smbfs

Symptoms:
My system has been freezing frequently the last few days, requiring hard reset
each time. There is no apparent pattern to what I am doing when the freeze
occurs; it has even happened while I am away from my desk. kern.log shows a
recurring bug (about every 10 minutes) in cifs (cifs_dfs_ref.c:274).

System:
Ubuntu 8.10, all packages up to date.

Diagnostics:
Unmounting cifs mounts did not fix the problem. Reinstalling all samba-related
packages did not fix the problem. Uninstalling all samba-related packages
appears to have fixed it; it hasn't recurred for ~30 minutes now. Excerpts
from ker.log are attached.

[Bug 341526] Re: Add support for Dell Driver Injection Disk

2009-03-17 Thread Colin Watson
It would be useful for this to be compatible with the driver update CD
implementation already in casper, which uses /ubuntu-drivers//. I'd be happy to add the LSB release as a lookup alternative
for casper, but /ubuntu-drivers/ was chosen to avoid confusion with
Ubuntu CD images that already use /ubuntu/. Can we use /ubuntu-drivers/
instead?

The path should not be hardcoded, but should use DISTRIB_ID from /etc
/lsb-release. localechooser has safe shell code for reading it.

I'm not sure I'm wild about the change to treat firmware disks
separately. I agree that they're sort of different in some ways, but the
delivery format is the same. Was this necessary for some particular
reason not mentioned in the changelog entry?

I'm not sure about the new udeb in hw-detect. I'll need to look into
this some more.

[Bug 323918] Re: php5 crashed with SIGSEGV in curl_global_cleanup()

2009-03-17 Thread Dan Drake
I am getting this same crash, also with php and Moodle. Above, you say
that you need:

> 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter > the
> problem,
> 2. the behavior you expected, and
> 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

My answers are:

1. Started Ubuntu. Without taking any action beyond starting the
computer (actually a virtual machine), shortly after logging in, the
crash icon appears.

2. I expected to not see the crash icon, or to have php crash.

3. The crash icon appears and asks me to submit a bug.

The problem is related to Moodle's cron interface, and in my syslog, I
see something like this every 5 minutes:

Mar 17 17:40:01 foo-desktop /USR/SBIN/CRON[29061]: (www-data) CMD ([ -f
/usr/share/moodle/admin/cron.php ] && /usr/bin/php -f
/usr/share/moodle/admin/cron.php > /dev/null)
Mar 17 17:40:04 foo-desktop kernel: [11650.655908] php[29062]: segfault at
7f5d8f31a0b0 ip 7f5d8f31a0b0 sp 7fff98add3a8 error 14 in
librt-2.9.so[7f5d90429000+7000]

I have 46 segfaults with librt, as above, and a handful of segfaults in
libgpg-error.so.0.3.0.

I haven't, AFAIK, configured Moodle to do anything special with cron.

I am reopening this, because this crash happens every five minutes, and
I'd really like to have Moodle working on Ubuntu. Let me know what other
information you need.

Interesting, thanks for that Paul.

Not all of their conditions apply, we only have 4 clients that connect
via SMB, but otherwise looks very similar.

I'll try upgrading (however I haven't seen the problem for a week or so
now so don't expect quick results).
