[Bug 385475] [NEW] [Karmic] Likewise-Open 5 fails to authenticate users

2009-06-10 Thread Thierry Carrez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: likewise-open5

Likewise-Open 5 relied on a specific GSSAPI patch in Kerberos 1.6.
However in Kerberos 1.7 the GSSAPI support has been included upstream,
with a slightly different API implementation.

So since the upgrade in Karmic to Kerberos 1.7 beta, the likewise-open5
packages are broken. Likewise is currently working on implementing
Kerberos 1.7 support in Likewise-Open 5.2.

As far as I can see, the package is not in Sid. If you believe that the
package is stable enough and it's worth having it in Karmic, please
request a sync with experimental.

[Bug 303835] Re: Typo in ssh_config man page

2009-06-10 Thread Colin Watson
OK, so according to the upstream bug I basically need to pull my finger
out and package 5.2. That isn't really something anyone can help with at
present, since my version control is still regrettably in CVS; getting
it into bzr is on my list, but preserving the history is complicated ...

[Bug 379412] Re: openvpn server startup script broken

2009-06-10 Thread Thierry Carrez
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 340120 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/340120

I agree using "script-security 2" isn't exactly backward-compatible but
since previous versions had an insecure behavior it's a good trade-off.
Passing passwords via environmental variables is... risky at best.

The rest of the bug is a dupe of bug 340120. Please followup there.

[Bug 379597] Re: Failure to install in Ubuntu 9.04

2009-06-10 Thread Thierry Carrez
Strange, it unpacks samba so it should create /usr/sbin/mksmbpasswd then
during postinst /usr/sbin/mksmbpasswd is no longer there:

Unpacking samba (from .../samba_2%3a3.3.2-1ubuntu3_i386.deb) ...
...
Setting up samba (2:3.3.2-1ubuntu3) ...
Generating /etc/default/samba...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/samba.postinst: 81: /usr/sbin/mksmbpasswd: not found
dpkg: error processing samba (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127

Could you remove samba (sudo apt-get purge samba) and try reinstalling
it ? This should definitely not happen, unless you remove files that
were just being installed...

Note that this is only if /sbin/mount.cifs isn't present (smbfs not
installed).

For root CIFS mounts, mount.cifs helper is called when present,
otherwise only "mount" and kernel magic is used to mount the
filesystem... and they don't know about sensitive options to scrub.

[Bug 373619] Re: jaunty openssh-client tries all keys available in ~/.ssh

2009-06-10 Thread Colin Watson
Oh, yeah, Thierry's very likely spot on here. This is documented in the
ssh_config(5) manual page.

If you don't want to use IdentitiesOnly, you could remove some of those
keys from your agent. Perhaps you're running some agent other than ssh-
agent, such as seahorse, and some bit of the desktop is automatically
loading all the keys it can find? ssh-agent itself doesn't behave this
way.
