[Bug 239048] Re: apache2 conf.d and sites-enabled oops

2009-08-08 Thread tgpae
RCS encourages one to put its files in a directory named RCS -
otherwise, they clutter up the original directory with near-matches for
every controlled file.

Prefixing the directory with a dot seems like a good plan. Somehow, I
doubt the CVS community would be open to that change. I suspect the
FSF's apparent decision to reject any change to RCS out of hand on the
basis that the concept of people wanting non-collaborative revision
control boggles their minds will apply here as well.

Given the contents of README.Debian, it would seem to me that the more
appropriate fix, if one were going to be applied, would be to add the
exact file names 'CVS' and 'RCS' to the list of excluded files.
However, as both of these are admittedly deprecated version control
systems, I'm guessing that won't happen either.

[Bug 246324] Re: initramfs-tools lvm2-hookscript won't include lvm.conf and claim devices it shouldn't

2009-08-08 Thread Darik Horn
This hook patch is needed to run backported kernels on Hardy systems
with root-in-lvm and partitionless PVs because Ubuntu kernels after
2.6.24 need "sysfs_scan = 0" set in the lvm.conf file. Without it, a
Hardy system can hang at the "waiting for root file system" boot
message.

The change that was applied to the Karmic package also applies to the
older lvm2-2.02.26-1ubuntu9 package that is in Hardy. I've got it in a
PPA here:

[Bug 410669] Re: Files incoming through nautilus-share should be created with user ownership, instead of "nobody"

2009-08-08 Thread arnau
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 268663 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/268663

** Description changed:

This is a very annoying and long standing bug (from at least two ubuntu
releases ago), that it could be easily fixed.
I hope that it can get some attention from Paper Cuts side.

When creating a new share with Nautilus once you create a Public folder
you cannot edit any of the contents created by guest users.

The files will have ownership set to user "nobody" and group "nogroup",
making it imposible to delete or modify by the user who created the share
folder.
Of course that from command line you can change that, but it is very annoying
having to change permissions from command line, before being able to edit any
file on the sharing folder.

Also this is a security issue as a guest user can fill up your hard
drive with junk and the owner of the share won't be able to delete it or
  move it (easily of course).

- This bug is already triaged from long time ago in (but it seems that nobody
is working on it)
