[Bug 458637] Re: samba client unable to access Windows 7 shares

2009-11-08 Thread Lvcoyote
I can confirm the Win7 issue. I just installed 9.10 today and am unable
to access my Win7 shared folders. I get the same "can not get file
list" error. I was able to get sharing files with the XP computer in
the house using the tutorial at the Ubuntu forums. I have file and
print sharing on and password sharing disabled in Win7. When I choose
places/network an icon appears for the Win7 machine, but double clicking
on it just hangs for a minute or so and finally the error described pops
up.

[Bug 478827] [NEW] openldap database backend back_perl has undefined symbols (aka slapd-perl back-perl)

2009-11-08 Thread Joshua Miller
Public bug reported:

Error when starting slapd when configured to use the perl backend

Starting OpenLDAP: slapd - failed:
/usr/sbin/slapd: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/perl/5.10/auto/Fcntl/Fcntl.so:

This may be related to bug #90812

When start fails, also verified it was not running with ps.
Removing the "database perl" section allows it to start.

To reproduce:

Changed to use slapd.conf rather than ldif configs.
/etc/defaults/slapd :

SLAPD_USER="openldap"
SLAPD_GROUP="openldap"

password-hash  {SSHA}
databaseperl
suffix "dc=company,dc=com"
perlModulePath /etc/ldap/perl
perlModule SampleLDAP

Copied SampleLDAP.pm from source distribution to /etc/ldap/perl/SampleLDAP.pm
chown'd it to openldap:
chmod'd it to 750
opendlap source location:
openldap-2.4.19/servers/slapd/back-perl/SampleLDAP.pm

Fixed bug in SampleLDAP.pm on line 52:

[Bug 406466] Re: 2.6.31 - Can't see files in CIFS-mounted directories

2009-11-08 Thread Callan Davies
hey mike d,

suggest you add 'nounix' into the mix, i.e :

//10.0.1.1/Time\040Capsule /mnt/mmslab cifs
nounix,noserverino,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,username=myuserID,password=mypassword
0 0

If you don't have nounix in there, you may find your NAS/server and your
computer try to do magical things with permissions, which can only end
in pain.

By putting file_mode and dir_mode you're setting your own mount
permissions, just try nounix to prevent the system from over-riding it.

Good luck!

Callan

[Bug 478649] [NEW] Files named cifsxxxx (x is various numbers) suddenly appear in many directories of cif mounts

2009-11-08 Thread MichaelE
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

I using my set-up with samba shares for 2-3 years and have never noticed
this before. I assume it started just some weeks or months ago.

I am using the following mount options on my Ubuntu 9.10 machine (the
problem was already on 9.04, as I just upgraded a few days ago)

mount.cifs .. -o
domain=,credentials=/home/$USER/.smbcredentials,nobrl,iocharset=utf8

The samba server is running on a Debian 5.0 xen-DomU with samba version
3.2.5. The xen-Dom0 is Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Linux xen-samba 2.6.24-24-xen #1
SMP Tue Aug 18 18:15:39 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux).

I have not found any file corruptions on the shares yet. So I guess the
cifs files are some sort of temp files. They do not do any harm
except looking ugly and eating up filespace.

Forgot to mention, after the upgrade the HD crapped out. I then had to
put a new 9.10 on new HD, and issues were identical. This is a major
change in how mount works.and needs to noted or changed back to
previous.

[Bug 478573] [NEW] eucalyptus services won't register

2009-11-08 Thread DarkJavi
Public bug reported:

Got 2 karmic's boxes, one with VT extensions and I'm trying to test eucalyptus
following this guide https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEC/PackageInstall.
When it comes to "sudo start eucalyptus-cc-registration"
i got an
start: Job failed to start
logfiles says
ERROR: you need to be on the CLC host and the CLC needs to be running.

I've tried to set ip manually on /etc/eucalyptus/eucalyptus-ipaddr.conf
CC_IP_ADDR="10.0.10.150"
WALRUS_IP_ADDR="10.0.10.150"
SC_IP_ADDR="10.0.10.150"
CLOUD_IP_ADDR="10.0.10.150"
but no luck.

First tried to install the whole system on the VT machine, when failed,
purged everything and moved fronted to another machine with the same
result.

What could i do?

Attached a "cat /var/log/eucalyptus/*"

[Bug 406466] Re: 2.6.31 - Can't see files in CIFS-mounted directories

2009-11-08 Thread dbruce100
Had the permission issues with Karmic also. Original box was upgraded
from Jauntyand all mounts showed up as ro, without being able to fix
it with an rw setting. Directories mounted into also had their
ownership changed to root.

file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 fixed the permission problemsthis is
with smbfs. Seems the default settings have been changed in 9.10, given
all my commands were pulled from this page:

http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/165

This will definitely cause major problems for anyone not expecting the
change and without the time or expertise to search the planet for a fix
(took me a few hours to locate this fix).

[Bug 478546] [NEW] PPC, MIPS and other emulated architectures should have their separate packages

2009-11-08 Thread Gioele Barabucci
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qemu-kvm

Could separate executables for non-x86 architectures be provided in
individual packages like qemu-alpha, qemu-mips and so on?

Currently qemu-kvm-extras contains 15 different executables for 8 major
architectures. The deb file is 15MB large and installs 44 MB of
executables.

I've tried instruction from
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=7167334&postcount=45 in ubuntu 9.10 and
padlock engine in openssl works now on 64-bit system.
It'll be great if this patch will be add to mainstream.

[Bug 478333] [NEW] package mysql-server-5.0 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: le sous-processus nouveau script pre-installation a retourn? une erreur de sortie d'?tat 1

2009-11-08 Thread Papy Octet
Public bug reported:

"No space enough in /var/lib/mysql/"

A+
