I've attached a snippet of /var/log/installer/syslog from a system just after 
PXE installation attempted to make a CC of it via the eucalyptus-udeb.  You'll 
notice that it's Setting up version 1.6~bzr931-0ubuntu7 of eucalyptus-cc.  It 
then runs ssh-keygen via an su to the eucalyptus user, and promptly complains 
about there being no upstart to talk to.

The reason I take interest in this is that it appears that part of my
problem is the failure of code in this postinst to run.  For example, I
don't even have an /etc/eucalyptus/eucalyptus-cc.conf until after my
purge/reinstall of eucalyptus-cc.  I also don't seem to have the
VNET_MODE or VNET_PUBLICIPS settings, for some reason.

So it would seem that either the test for a fresh install is failing
somehow, or the debconf query for eucalyptus/cluster-name is failing
along with some more subtle problem.

This failed to update because I stupidly deleted the folder
/etc/init.d/mysql.  Now apt-get remove, purge and install all fail
because the files are not there.  I wanted to purge mysql-server and
reinstall it from scratch.  Now I really can't do anything because I
don't have the files that I deleted.

BTW - The reason I wanted to purge mysql in the first place is because I
couldn't get it to work because of a lot of privilege related problems
so I decided to start from scratch using the mysql 5.1 reference manual.
There are a lot of people with these issues.  It would be great if they
could be automatically resolved during installation.

This bug is about using attach and detach commands via libvirt, and not USB 
(hostdev) devices. Hostdev support will be added in 10.04. In the meantime, 
please see /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/libvirt-qemu:

  # This is required for USB pass through but is a security risk. You have been

- #21 the change  of "+" is only for the purposes of computing the hmac, not 
processing the message contents.
- #23 the bug referenced is not related to this issue.

There look to be (at least) two issues here:
1) double base64'd data
2) authentication failure w/ certain user data strings

#1 was fixed in the euca2ools, afaict.  #2 no longer manifests with any
of the examples listed in this thread.

Is there still a pending issue here and, if so, is there a test case?

Is it invalid? I'd rather say that we don't have smart way of installing 
headers for kernel that we ship. It's impossible to make package depend 
on latest headers of the kernel that's installed. Now best/worst thing 
we can do is hardcode drbd dependency on server kernel and headers.

It would be nice to have that and it would fix this problem.

Hi Alexey,

true, killing all mysqld-procs  isn't the best choice, however i tried
to stick to the original initscript which also killed the processes
after some time. Its no problem to change this behaviour if wanted, only
the 'kill -9' and 'log_msg' lines have to be altered. Who is up to
decide/implement this (sorry, i don't know any mysql-maintainer...)?

Sadly, this bug needs to be re-opened due to the advent of Karmic Koala
and the Upstart system.  Once again, likewise-open5 is starting LONG
after cron runs.  Or is this a situation where the likewise-open5
package just needs to be reinstalled to properly use upstart?

As it stands, gdm starts long before lsassd is running, and as a result
for the first minute or so you cannot log in.

With my basic Linux knowledge it wasnt easy to find this solution. First i was 
thinking it was just me doing something wrong. 
i am running 9.04 with 2.6.31

A collegue saw it on my netbook and he installed ubuntu 9.1 NBR. He also had 
problems mounting his NAS. 
Windows had no problems to mount it.

This made him think linux isnt really that user friendly.. he would
never find this solution

imo i think these kind of bugs should get importance high, because
network file access is highly used and people with not much knowledge
about linux won't probaby find this solution.

unless ubuntu doesnt want to aim at user friedlyness.. :=)

anyway, good work.. i love ubuntu
