[Bug 375669] Re: auth.log boot cron[5014]: nss_ldap: could not search LDAP server - Server is unavailable

2010-01-17 Thread Pascal
Hi,

I'm experiencing this problem on my Ubuntu 9.10 computer.

Workaround: inserting the following 2 lines in /etc/rc.local:

sleep 15
/etc/init.d/cron restart

until finding the correct pam/ldap/nsswitch files configuration...

Regards
Pascal

[Bug 24184] Re: Samba and system passwords should be synchronized.

2010-01-17 Thread aa
I completely agree. I have occasionally had this problem with Ubuntu
samba and gave up on it, not knowing what combination finally got it
working when it did. I almost gave up on it after the last new install.
I never considered installing Nautilus in a certain order. I just did
the default install and installed what I needed and sometimes it worked.

This got me going easy and simple. Thank you!

[Bug 181876] Re: Main inclusion request

2010-01-17 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Reopening this bug, as vgabios is currently in Universe.

I'm working on the merge of qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2, from which the vgabios
code has been removed from the release tarball.

We should instead depend on the the vgabios package for installation.

Please let me know if you need anything else from me to update to the
MIR, itself. As far as I can see, this should be relatively
straightforward, as nearly identical code has been in Main within kvm
and qemu-kvm for several years now.

[Bug 294305] Re: can't install new Ubuntu releases with old vm-builder

2010-01-17 Thread Loïc Minier
This is usually achieved by backporting the new vmbuilder for older
release, either in PPAs, or in e.g. intrepid-backports. I don't think
we can anticipate the needs of newer releases, and debootstrap needs to
be updated anyway (i.e. we need a debootstrap backport).

Since this is more of a process improvement, perhaps you can suggest
this on the ubuntu-server@ mailing-list instead of in a bug report?

[Bug 508930] [NEW] CIFS mount is offline every x minutes/seconds

2010-01-17 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

Situation:

Mounting a LOCAL Win XP PC share with:
mount //LOCAL-NETWORK-PC/DATA /mnt/DATA

Then we start playing music from /mnt/DATA, everything runs fine, only
every x minutes/seconds it seems to give a skip.

Pulseaudio tells me:
D: protocol-native.c: Underrun on 'Music File', 0 bytes in queue.
D: protocol-native.c: Requesting rewind due to end of underrun.

Lets enable CIFS debugging:
echo 3 /proc/fs/cifs/cifsFYI

Then at every underrun it gives:

Hrm, well...

There are some differences, I don't know if it's large. The diffstat
looks like this:

 vgabios.h | 47
 vgafonts.h | 784 +

 31 files changed, 12975 insertions(+)

This is the diffstat of the vgabios in karmic's qemu-kvm, which is a
bit older than the vgabios I merged from (latest upstream).

I can try to analyze it a bit more closely.

[Bug 181876] Re: [MIR] vgabios

2010-01-17 Thread Martin Pitt
Matthias already ack'ed it in the past, and it's always good to replace
copies in upstream tarballs with an explicit package. Matthias' original
question Is there a way to keep the copies in kvm an qemu in sync?
seems to have a proper answer now, since it's now just one source
package for both.
