[Bug 521085] Re: Samba 3.4.0 denies access to Roaming Profiles for XP Clients
OK, Samba 3.4.5, as shipped with Lucid (2:3.4.5~dfsg-2ubuntu1) solves the roaming profile problem, more or less. Windows is very picky about the precise permissions of the profile folder. The permissions on the profile folders were drwx-wx---. This worked fine for fully patched Windows XP SP3 clients and Samba 3.0.2, but no longer works with Samba 3.4.x and the same clients, giving the "windows can't load roaming profile" error messages described previously. Changing the permissions on the profile folder to drwx-- solves the problem. Note that this is NOT the same problem encountered with Samba 3.4.0. For this version, the on shipping with Karmic AMD64 Server, one can create a new profile from scratch and it will give the "window's can't load roaming profile" error message the next time the user tries to log in. I've attached the latest smb.conf file, which is not much different from the original (also attached). -- Samba 3.4.0 denies access to Roaming Profiles for XP Clients https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/521085 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 463684] Re: openldap sections in ubuntu server guide not updated for packages in karmic
I am sick of this. I have spent the last 4 days upgrading, installing, uninstalling trying really hard to get OpenLDAP to work on Ubuntu but I am just now giving up. For those who care to listen there are some reasons: 1. I originally had it working on Edgy but when I went to test some stuff on Friday it was no longer working. Plus I thought it was probably time for an update... 2. The update had some moments but I eventually arrived at Karmic but along the way my slapd.conf wouldn't upgrade. 3. No worries, I'll remove and install the package again. Really really bad decision. 4. The installation wouldn't work because the remove wouldn't delete the slapd.conf. The remove was failing as was the install. I eventually deleted the slapd.conf manually so the remove and install would then work. I was surprised that a new slapd.conf was never created. 5. The configuration script asks just 3 questions when it clearly should be asking a whole lot more. Nobody seems to know why it's not asking more but they think the documentation should be updated to reflect that the configuration will only ask 3 questions. Duh! 6. More googling and I found a step by step to getting the ldap server working. Well, at least there were steps but I couldn't get them to work. I needed some Berkeley database which I couldn't find anywhere, and I looked for other packages that utilised this bdb and tried installing them - I don't know if the database arrived or not but the LDAP script still failed with some error about the database, I think it was error (80) - really cool messages. So my ldap server is like a beached whale without this database I thought that was what pre- requisites were for 7. None of the ldapadd scripts worked and now the problems are just adding up... Wouldn't it be nice to have a piece of software that would load, provide some configuration options and then you could use a tool like LDAPExplorerTool2 to do the loading and searching functions. I'm a developer and my application operates as an LDAP client - I don't want to learn all of the intricacies of the LDAP server in order to test my application. I want just the basics operating so I can test my app with a couple of use cases. I'm now completely turned off Ubuntu and will be heading off to another Linux derivative. Good bye. [Bug 524020] [NEW] karmic uec builds fail to publish due to 2 installed -ec2 kernels
You have been subscribed to a public bug: build 20100204 is the last karmic uec build to successfully publish to ec2. The builds fail to publish with: Thu Feb 18 05:13:57 GMT 2010: publishing -> ubuntu-karmic-daily-i386-server-20100218 must provide kernel for each region publish-image karmic-server-uec-i386.img for karmic/server/i386 failed failed daily build publisher: karmic /srv/ec2-images/karmic/20100218 The call chain looks like: uec-build-launcher -> publish-build -> publish-build-krd . publish-build-krd reads the '-kernel-info.txt' file in unpacked/ and is confused its content. The problem is that the build ended up installing 2 versions of the -ec2 kernel (and also 2 versions of -virtual kernel). publish-build-krd expected only 1 of each type. In investigating *why* this was the case, it can be reproduced by 'apt- get install uec^'. The uec seed data has the released versions of the kernels explicitly listed [1]. See linux-image-2.6.31-14-virtual and linux-image-2.6.31-302-ec2. I believe that linux- image-2.6.31-19-virtual and linux-image-2.6.31-304-ec2 are upgrades to the listed packages. There has been discussion in ubuntu-devel [2] on how Task: values would be updated with no clear solution. I believe the root issue is that the kernel linux-image packages are not the same package name (because of the ABI bump) and the program consuming or generating output doesn't realize that the -updates version replaces the released version. This is currently only a problem on karmic, but it will become a problem on lucid as soon as there are kernels with new ABI in -updates. -- [1] http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/germinate-output/ubuntu.karmic/uec [2] http://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2010/02/18/%23ubuntu-devel.html ** Affects: vm-builder (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Scott Moser (smoser) Status: Triaged ** Affects: vm-builder (Ubuntu Lucid) Importance: High Assignee: Scott Moser (smoser) Status: Triaged ** Affects: vm-builder (Ubuntu Karmic) Importance: High Assignee: Scott Moser (smoser) Status: Triaged ** Tags: uec-images -- karmic uec builds fail to publish due to 2 installed -ec2 kernels https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524020 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to vm-builder in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 525041] Re: Apache serves PHP files without parsing them
Then I guess I'm actually affected too. Ever since I can remember, PHP files weren't parsed by default and I had to add that directive to apache2.conf. -- Apache serves PHP files without parsing them https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/525041 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 525041] Re: Apache serves PHP files without parsing them
@Delan: No, that is not the way the Debian/Ubuntu apache2 configuration is normally handled. The configuration needed is available in /etc/apache2/mods-{available,enabled}/php5.conf, which in turn is included from /etc/apache2/apache2.conf.
[Bug 403599] Re: Installing PHP5 performs a reload to apache instead of a restart
This Debian solution, now being in Lucid, is that the following change from php5 5.2.11.dfsg.1-1? * add dpkg trigger in the apache2 and apache2filter sapis for reloading apache2 on extension updates (Closes: #490023, #524206) Doing a fresh install of libapache2-mod-php5 5.2.12.dfsg.1-2ubuntu2 I still need to manually do an extra reload of apache2 before it start parsing php code. Does it help if you restart apache2? $ sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart When I try your recipe I do receive unparsed php code until I restart apach Wondering if bug #403599 is still haunting us, or if this is a new issue.
