[Bug 571543] Re: Milter and Freshclam configurations buggy in Lucid
** Description changed: Binary package hint: clamav In the default configuration, logrotate for clamav-milter will cause incorrect permissions. In the default configuration, the new bytecode anti-virus checks were inadvertently left disabled. + + By default, clamav-daemon will restart every six hours to pick up new + signatures. There is an off by default feature for freshclam to notify + clamav-daemon when it's restarted to enable immediate use of new + signatures. This is supposed to be controlled by a debconf boolean, but + the path to the clamd config file is stored instead. TEST CASE: For clamav-milter, with the current package installed, inspect the contents of /etc/logrotate.d/clamav-milter and find that the create line only includes the group permissions, not the user (clamav): "create 640 adm". Install the updated packages and check the file again and find that it now includes user too: "create 640 clamav adm". For the freshclam bytcode issue, inspect /etc/clamav/freshclam.conf and note the absence of a Bytecode parameter. Install the updated packages and see that freshclam.conf now contains "Bytecode true" (or false if the user has set it to false previously). + + Use dpkg-reconfigure clamav-freshclam and say change the "Should clamav + daemone be notified of updates" question to yes. Inspect + /var/cache/debconf/config.dat and find the paramete for clamav- + freshclam/NotifyClamd and note the value. It should say + "/etc/clamav/clamd.conf". Got the same problem: - can not log in - can not change passwork - can not create new user 1. case: native 9.10 srv to 10.04 srv with apt-get upgrade. There was no Samba but Likewise 5.4.0.7985. Testbed Intel Celeron 667MHz 2. case production file and www server 9.10 srv. Samba. No Likewise. 'apt-get purge samba' started upgrade all by itself. Intel P4. Uptime about 180 days. 3. case native 10.04 srv rc1 to 10.04 srv with apt-get upgrade. No Samba, but Likewise 5.4.0.7985. Testbed Intel Atom 330 All the upgrades were made after the official release, In all cases the servers were registered in a large AD and had users. There was normal user 'root', a local user with sudo rights and a domain user with sudo rights, one basic user with no special rights. None of us can log in. All the configurations was made over SSH (Putty) as 'root'. I had at least two SSH connections open from either one or two workstations, so that I could test various tricks. Cases 1 and 3 didn't allow local login with keyboard. I didn't try connection over RS232 (port is open and tested before upgrade). Now the connections are closed by automatic timeout. None of the fixes in previous messages did help. Not even root can log in. What to do with the 2.case ? There is customer data in there and a lot of scripts. Most of the data and scripts have been automatically copied to a backup. Still there is a lot of work to make it functional again, if I got to start with CD-installation. I think I can replicate the sittuation, because I copied two of the root manual logs to another server. I set up some builds (which are still in queue now) with the patches from dotdeb, but until I can't see some green marks next to them I'll be waiting for packages from any source. On hardy I can easily use packages from dotdeb, but that doesn't work on lucid (I use nginx and don't want to "downgrade" to apache just cause of lack of packages). [Bug 397721] Re: [needs-packaging] php-fpm
@Stas: I'm working on such packages but they are for PHP 5.2, as FPM with PHP 5.3 is still experimental (and I had problems building it). Although I've been using it on a public website for a while now, there can still be regressions (and there probably are). And I cannot support it for 5 years, though the FPM patches will probably work fine before the next LTS. -- [needs-packaging] php-fpm https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/397721 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 450645] Re: error during slapd configuration: chown: cannot access `olcDbDirectory\nolcDbDirectory'
Yep, in your case, the problem is the existence of the "olcDatabase={1}hdb.ldif~" backup file. (The postinst script currently assumes that only one file will contain the string "olcSuffix: dc=nasgul,dc=local", but here both the .ldif and .ldif~ file contain it.) If you don't care much about keeping that backup file, you could delete it (or at least move it out of the slapd.d/cn=config directory), then run "dpkg --configure slapd" to try running the slapd configuration step again. If you do want to keep the backup file, a workaround would be to rename it with a name that doesn't start with "olcDatabase" (e.g. "saved_olcDatabase={1}hdb.ldif~" or whatever). -- error during slapd configuration: chown: cannot access `olcDbDirectory\nolcDbDirectory' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/450645 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 545795] Re: apparmor driver blocks access to hostdev and pcidev devices
I'm sorry to post to this bug that has a status of "Fix released" but I am not sure it is really fixed. I have a situation similar too the original poster's concerning a USB card reader that won't make it past AppArmor it seems. Using libvirt-bin 0.7.5-5ubuntu27. Situation: one of our servers was upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 today. The server runs a few Ubuntu 9.10 VMs, nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. These VMs were defined and installed a few weeks ago, prior to the release of and update to Ubuntu 10.04 (if that matters at all). We've had problems with AppArmor and Libvirt/KVM before so we disabled AppArmor and pass-through of the USB card readers worked fine this way. This situation was not ideal from a security point-of-view but since the host and guests are strictly for internal test and development purposes we went with it. Now I see that a lot has happened with regards to AppArmor, USB and PCI pass-through and Libvirt, so tried again enabling AppArmor. Alas, when starting a VM dmesg and /var/log/kern.log show these entries, repeating every second it seems: May 3 19:44:18 TESTHOST kernel: [ 2407.509182] type=1503 audit(1272908658.618:785): operation="open" pid=1532 parent=1 profile ="libvirt-959806d1-327a-cd14-6b3f-ddeee8a19d0e" requested_mask="r::" denied_mask="r::" fsuid=0 ouid=0 name="/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1e.0/:01:04.4/usb6/devnum" The guest of course does not get to see anything of the USB device in question. Please find the XML definition of the guest in question here: https://daff.pseudoterminal.org/files/vm-usb.txt After disabling AppArmor (/etc/init.d/apparmor stop) the USB device is again visible in the guest. Why would this happen? The file /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.libvirt.virt-aa- helper explicitly states that access to /sys/devices/** should be allowed. Am I missing anything? I can experiment and run tests on this server for the next week or so, so please tell me if I can help debugging anything. -- apparmor driver blocks access to hostdev and pcidev devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545795 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 574588] [NEW] The --nocache flag for qemu-nbd doesn't work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: qemu-kvm If I try to attach a disk image using qemu-kvm to a network block device, it will not work if I use the --nocache flag. Here is an example: $ qemu-nbd -c /dev/nbd7 --nocache whowho.qcow2 $ ls /dev/nbd7* /dev/nbd7 If you look in dmesg, there aren't any mentions of the above commands. However, this works: $ sudo qemu-nbd -c /dev/nbd7 whowho.qcow2 $ ls /dev/nbd7* /dev/nbd7 /dev/nbd7p1 /dev/nbd7p2 And in dmesg, I see this: [ 8489.904028] nbd7: p1 p2 The latter command doesn't actually always work. Sometimes it just takes several tries. When it doesn't work, there are no error messages or any mention in the logs about it not working. It would be nice if it would give some more info about what is happening. The slapd.postinst script attempts to ensure that various files and directories have the proper ownerships (and permissions) set. Can you post the output of the following command (run as root)? grep -E "^(include|database|suffix|directory)" /etc/ldap/slapd.conf Hopefully that will give some hint as to what is causing the confusion. -- Dist-Upgrade Karmic->Lucid: Upgrading slapd fails with "chown: invalid argument: `'" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574474 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 567043] Re: [SRU] [lucid] php5-cgi crashes in memcpy using lighttpd
Statement of Impact: Lucid was shipped with a bug in PHP that can cause PHP applications to segfault when running certain applications (ex: gallyer2). This was addressed in PHP bug #51624, and is fixed in PHP 5.3.3-dev. How this has been addressed: This bug has been fixed in the PHP SVN and the patch has been backported to 5.3.2. I have asked people to verfiy that the patch fixes their installation of gallery2 as shown below. I have attached the patch which fixes this issue. How to reproduce: 1. Try to install gallery2 with ubuntu4. 2. Check the segfaults in dmesg There shouldnt be any regressions with this patch. If you have any questions please let me know. Also, the revised workaround in #20 does not work for me. I edited /etc/init/ssh.conf as suggested, then ran initctl reload-configuration restart ssh but for some reason the -4 parameter isn't taking effect. ps shows sshd running as just /usr/sbin/sshd with no argument, netstat shows sshd listening on 22, and $DISPLAY is still not being set on login.
