I took a look at the source code in question. This package appears to be out of date wrt the underlying package it plugs into (vmbuilder). There are several API differences (changed method names, changed attributes). It's not limited to missing --ec2 option; even with minor hacking to correct the API, it still does not work. ** Description changed: Using ubuntu 10.04, i have eucalyptus-nc running in the node controller but does not have nc.log. In the cc, if i run euca_conf --discover-nodes it find no nodes. Even if i run euca_conf --register-nodes NODE_IP, i receive a success message (done), but no nodes are showed with euca_conf --list-nodes. euca-describe-availability-zones verbose returns 0/0 for all types. My hw configuration are with 2 machines, 1 clc, cc, sc and 1 nc. I've deregistered everything, cluster through web interface and node through command line, then rebooted clc/cc/sc and the nc. After reboot, the cluster was automatically registered, i changed the eucalytptus- cc.conf and the eucalyptus-sc.conf to c3cluster1 again. But euca_conf --list-nodes show no nodes. Even after --register-nodes 192.168.1.2 getting success message. Im sad because with ubuntu 9.10 everything was working and now with 10.04 it does not work for some unknow reason. I have the clc/cc and the nc linked through a hub. The clc/cc have 2 NIC's, 1 public(10.1.2.x) and 1 private(192.168.1.X) that is used to comunicate with the node. In the hub i have a dhcp server that assigns IP's in the 10.1.2.X subnet, and it is the gw too. The network configuration in the NC is manual(192.168.1.2), in the private iface of CLC/CC is manual too(192.168.1.1) and the public iface is dhcp. Ok, this time I really have solved it, at least for me. I have rebooted and login now works (using the change described below). The problem is with the line: auth optionalpam_smbpass.so migrate in /etc/pam.d/common-auth Removing this line solves the problem. I have a DNS-323 which worked most (but not all) of the time with Hardy,
but quit working in 10.04.
adding
client lanman auth = yes
to the [global] section of smb.conf seems to have resolved the problem
as long as I use the IP address of the DNS (I've done a few other
things, configuring the DNS to the same user name as my 10.04 system,
changing the domain name ("workgroup" in winspeak) in smb.conf and in
the DNS-323 configuration to match in case, but don't know if they
matter).
HOWEVER: my LAN has never worked except when the router is configured as
the DHCP server, so I never know the IP address of the DNS-323. Is there
an easy way to find out? 192.168.0.102 works. RAID1-FDFA2B does not.

great, thanks!! i installed the two libvirt{0,-bin} packages from
Maverick and testing right now.
Sadly the memory leak is still there for me... If i leave the unmodified
/lib/udev/rules.d/95-multipath.rules
in operation the memory usage of libvirtd grows around 15M in 1 minute!!
Removing the 'change' action in 95-multipath.rules of course helps a lot to
reduce the leak (in that case kernel/udev trigger "only" two events every 15
seconds with our hardware...).

I'll take that back. Its failing again after a reboot. I don't have to upgrade to Lucid. Hardy is still supported. I downgraded (reinstalled) the server from Lucid to hardy to test stability of some failing virtual machines. At first sight, they are stable, but I couldn't use virt-manager to generate the configuration. I used the command line as a workaround. As I understand it, virt-manager doesn't change its configuration according to the version of libvirt it is connecting to. libvirt does not understand the 'fmt' parameter, but it doesn't have to. @Sam Barker - you must have inadvertently fixed whatever error was causing the "/usr/bin/mysqladmin --defaults-file=$HOME/debian.cnf ping" command to fail. I just hit this autofs bug (connecting to a Solaris NFS server). I tried restarting autofs but that didn't help. I thought I'd note this here as I found that stopping and starting portmap allowed me to get into the mounts I previously couldn't access, without rebooting the whole system. Hmm, I have to give some extra information. The server running libvirt-bin is hardy. Virt-manager, however, is running on Lucid.
