[Bug 592442] [NEW] fopen fails on some SSL urls
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: php5 Description:Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Release:10.04 php5: Installed: 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.2 Candidate: 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.2 Version table: *** 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 5.3.2-1ubuntu4 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages For some reason I can't seem to get the following to work. I suspect a SSL problem. Maybe the intermediate SSL cert is not being recognized properly? The server cert is signed by geotrust (which is an intermediate of equifax[1]). I put the following in a file called /tmp/fopen.php: https://www.google.com","r";)) { print "www.google.com worked\n"; } if (fopen("https://cas.ucdavis.edu","r";)) { print "cas.ucdavis.edu worked\n"; } ?> Then I run the php via an apache web and/or via the php5-cli (the results are the same in both cases): $ php /tmp/fopen.php www.google.com worked PHP Warning: fopen(): SSL operation failed with code 1. OpenSSL Error messages: error:140773F2:SSL routines:func(119):reason(1010) in /tmp/fopen.php on line 3 PHP Warning: fopen(): Failed to enable crypto in /tmp/fopen.php on line 3 PHP Warning: fopen(https://cas.ucdavis.edu): failed to open stream: operation failed in /tmp/fopen.php on line 3 $ When I run the above command on a karmic or jaunty machine it works fine for both fopen() calls. I've attached a tcpdump of the above script. As you can see from the dump, Google is working but my server is not. I get an SSL alert packet (packet #29) back with code 10 (unexpected message). Maybe this is an intermediate cert verification problem? What is funny is that I get an ACK right before that. It seems like maybe the server is sending an ACK, client starts talking, server isn't ready and sends an out-of-order message. Incidentally, wget works fine (without --no-check-certificate): $ openssl s_client -CApath /etc/ssl/certs -connect cas.ucdavis.edu:443 CONNECTED(0003) depth=1 /C=US/O=Equifax/OU=Equifax Secure Certificate Authority verify return:1 depth=0 /C=US/ST=California/L=Davis/O=University of California Davis/OU=IET-IR/CN=cas.ucdavis.edu verify return:1 --- Certificate chain 0 s:/C=US/ST=California/L=Davis/O=University of California Davis/OU=IET-IR/CN=cas.ucdavis.edu i:/C=US/O=Equifax/OU=Equifax Secure Certificate Authority 1 s:/C=US/O=Equifax/OU=Equifax Secure Certificate Authority i:/C=US/O=Equifax/OU=Equifax Secure Certificate Authority --- Server certificate -BEGIN CERTIFICATE- MIIC/DCCAmWgAwIBAgIDCiCtMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBBQUAME4xCzAJBgNVBAYTAlVT MRAwDgYDVQQKEwdFcXVpZmF4MS0wKwYDVQQLEyRFcXVpZmF4IFNlY3VyZSBDZXJ0 aWZpY2F0ZSBBdXRob3JpdHkwHhcNMDgxMTA2MjMwNDQ2WhcNMTEwMTA2MjMwNDQ2 WjCBhjELMAkGA1UEBhMCVVMxEzARBgNVBAgTCkNhbGlmb3JuaWExDjAMBgNVBAcT BURhdmlzMScwJQYDVQQKEx5Vbml2ZXJzaXR5IG9mIENhbGlmb3JuaWEgRGF2aXMx DzANBgNVBAsTBklFVC1JUjEYMBYGA1UEAxMPY2FzLnVjZGF2aXMuZWR1MIGfMA0G CSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQDRT3t20tSOMW9sC+WYk8csHzV6JK+aMGd8 m9NDQtK3bb5STyp1AfuovU2tGKv1YD5HCIs1BzDbbN+XJIrU+zSAdrVdHKp62ZKy AWTFfwfQ0VWvBz8iKzWVpfiRutUC+RqodMBQ3DqM0YU4RX6cz9L5QFi+hQsCQ+Ha lKzseuEJnQIDAQABo4GuMIGrMA4GA1UdDwEB/wQEAwIE8DAdBgNVHQ4EFgQUZoEl UbQzpXvJyk5JVUGmVQu5Ka0wOgYDVR0fBDMwMTAvoC2gK4YpaHR0cDovL2NybC5n ZW90cnVzdC5jb20vY3Jscy9zZWN1cmVjYS5jcmwwHwYDVR0jBBgwFoAUSOZo+SvS spXXR9gjIBBPM5iQn9QwHQYDVR0lBBYwFAYIKwYBBQUHAwEGCCsGAQUFBwMCMA0G CSqGSIb3DQEBBQUAA4GBADhAlAHFmemcwilbfWfu2//Os58jzJNCBFPNpS0d+tg4 AQTgR4Ogs7ljbJeo4+2eEnGvLHvPy1El8JkKRexwVhQSymz60Bnkg0oiQ6qIYwML r5Gfk+liSBpexjZkPp+olFO8u/d+UlW6ZPfI5RTyz5e+InrETFyjgoIJY3y3SnFQ -END CERTIFICATE- subject=/C=US/ST=California/L=Davis/O=University of California Davis/OU=IET-IR/CN=cas.ucdavis.edu issuer=/C=US/O=Equifax/OU=Equifax Secure Certificate Authority --- No client certificate CA names sent --- SSL handshake has read 2147 bytes and written 276 bytes --- New, TLSv1/SSLv3, Cipher is EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA Server public key is 1024 bit Compression: NONE Expansion: NONE SSL-Session: Protocol : TLSv1 Cipher: EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA Session-ID: 4C116E5221F8596C7B1BE3E4443D427A6234FCE19A12F6E869C3F0C536715A7D Session-ID-ctx: Master-Key: C52784FE43D5156FDB3A81670E1BF87585502BC5C38EAE214F2C93285743BB8B050B8B111751A7B16A3784159B6444B3 Key-Arg : None Start Time: 1276210770 Timeout : 300 (sec) Verify return code: 0 (ok) --- HEAD / HTTP/1.0 HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1 Location: https://casweb3.ucdavis.edu:8443/login Content-Type: text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Length: 0 Date: Thu, 10 Jun 2010 22:59:33 GMT Connection: close closed $ wget https://cas.ucdavis.edu --2010-06-10 16:01:53-- https://cas.ucdavis.edu/ Resolving cas.ucdavis.edu... 169.237.104.82 Connecting to cas.ucdavis.edu|169.237.104.82|:443... connected. [Bug 539328] Re: apparmor-messages in syslog
The /etc/ld.so.preload file is used to list ELF shared libraries to be loaded before the program, and this is part of the protection that AppArmor provides. Allowing access to this file in the apparmor profile would simply mean an additional (custom) library would need to be added to the profile. Since the /etc/ld.so.preload file is non-standard and system specific, it is expected that users/administrators will need to adjust their AppArmor profiles accordingly. Michael, NetworkManager appears to be running fine with the exception of the extra logging. I suggest the /etc/ld.so.preload file be moved to /etc/ld.so.preload.bak and see if that causes problems (you should probably look inside to see why it is there in the first place). Another option is to add the following to the /usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-dhcp-client.action stanza of /etc/apparmor.d/sbin.dhclient3: deny /etc/ld.so.preload r, and then perform: $ sudo apparmor_parser -r /etc/apparmor.d/sbin.dhclient3 ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix ** Package changed: network-manager (Ubuntu) => dhcp3 (Ubuntu) -- apparmor-messages in syslog https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/539328 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dhcp3 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 510213] Re: apparmor blocks /usr/local/sbin execution
While wrapper scripts are somewhat common so people can get at qemu's functionality that isn't exposed to libvirt, there is not really a safe way to add this to the profile. Sure, we could add /usr/local/sbin/* or some other path, but: a) this allows everything in /usr/local/sbin/, which is not desired (we only really want the emulator) b) some, if not many, of these wrapper scripts will need additional rules added to the profile Marking Won't Fix. A wrapper around the emulator is effectively a new emulator to libvirt and appropriate rules must be added to the profile. ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Won't Fix -- apparmor blocks /usr/local/sbin execution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510213 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 592326] [NEW] BUG: soft lockup - CPU#3 stuck for 11s! [apache2:22615]
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apache2 Hi, I am running Apache 2.2.8 on several Ubuntu VM's. These are all running Ubuntu 2.6.24-19.41-virtual... For some reason these systems are sporadically crashing and repeat the following errors in syslog until the VM is reset. There does not appear to be any pattern in how long apache is running before this occurs, it can be weeks, days or hours. Does anybody have any idea why this may be happening? [Bug 592327] [NEW] KVM becomes unresponsive due to waiting for aio threads
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: qemu-kvm 1) # lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Release:10.04 2) # apt-cache policy qemu-kvm qemu-kvm: Installed: 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9 Candidate: 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9 Version table: *** 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9 0 500 http://70.84.184.243/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) We expect that the aio threads that do not return should time out. 4) instead, KVM and virtualized guests become unresponsive when the guest run performance tests against the libaio engine. This is reproducable 100% by running fio with the libaio engine. In some cases, the test must be run multiple times. The more vCPUs a guest instance has, the more likely it is to crash quickly. In some cases, one guest instance can also cause performance problems and crashes for other guests on the same physical hardware. The only way to regain control of KVM is to reboot the server. This appears to be the same problem addressed by the KVM package in RHEL 5.5 (BZ#525114). [Bug 591423] Re: qemu -drive boot=on flag causes boot to hang.
After reading the posted email thread, I've come to the conclusion that the -boot argument is missdocumented/missleading. In actuality it's "c" parameter is more like the "boot from first or selected hard disk" and "d" would be "boot from first or selected cdrom". I think it would be best to remove this parameter, perhaps replacing it with a parameter to force a particular behavior(like the option to what format a block device is in). The boot sequence should attempt a cdrom boot, since this would fail quickly I'd imagine if the image was not an iso. Then booting the device like a hard disk or crash trying. -- qemu -drive boot=on flag causes boot to hang. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/591423 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

The main point is to test the actual .deb from -proposed, to ensure that the changes were applied correctly, and that the package wasn't misbuilt due to changes in underlying toolchain, libraries, or accidents. -- [SRU] dovecot-postfix references cmusieve as a mail plugin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573345 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dovecot in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 573345] Re: [SRU] dovecot-postfix references cmusieve as a mail plugin
i submitted a diff of exactly the change that I made. While i can look and say 'yes, this looks like its the same', so can anyone else, so I'm not sure the value in me validating that you've changed what i changed. I had a look at your diff, and it is indeed the same as my diff (mine obviously didn't have the header/footer changes), and given i've tested my change, i guess your change works, by virtue of the fact that it's the same as mine, which i've tested.
