[Bug 350936] Re: Should shut down domains on system shutdown
but i am still hanging on the upstart integration when using pre-stop in libvirt-bin. while the condition regarding the runlevel by tomcrus works great, it seems we are not able to simply delay the shutdown process with a simple sleep. in my case i only managed to get the pre-stop killed or make the reboot hang forever. i also tried exec sleep. there is also some stuff in /etc/init.d/sendsigs that might be of interest. for anyone who like to do the puzzle just make the timeout work in pre- stop and we should have the solution by placing the core script into it. ** Attachment added: libvirt-bin.conf http://launchpadlibrarian.net/51117052/libvirt-bin.conf -- Should shut down domains on system shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 350936] Re: Should shut down domains on system shutdown
instead of destroying vms, wouldn't be a more elegant solution to save the state of the VM in a statefile? On bootup, upstart would check for such statefiles and restore the VMs. This would work even for VMs that don't react to ACPI events properly and saves the VM's uptimes. -- Should shut down domains on system shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 586546] Re: Byobu should be enabled by default for initial login to Ubuntu Server
So, after the heated debate at UDS, I turned byobu on for a couple of my own personal servers (1 Karmic , 2 CentOS). I have turned it off on one of those machines since, but rather enjoy it for the other two. The main reason is that I ssh into that box 2 or 3 times a day from different places, and I don't necessarily want to see what I saw. I just want a shell prompt to run something on. byobu gets in the way of that. I think this is a case of what kind of car should Ubuntu Server be? Are we trying to produce the feature rich ultra comfortable 7 series luxury sedan, or the spartan, agile, powerful M3 sport coupe? People can always add speakers and a nav computer to the M3, but you can't rip all the stuff out of the 7 series. So I actually think we should strive for a lean, powerful machine, and leave byobu just the way it is. -1 -- Byobu should be enabled by default for initial login to Ubuntu Server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/586546 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is a direct subscriber. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I now have this working both on the ec2 instance and my maverick laptop using my own kvm and seabios packages. The kvm package is still the one in the bzr branch listed above, which needs sponsorship to get into maverick. The seabios package is the one at http://people.canonical.com/~serge/seabios_0.6.0-0ubuntu1_all.deb The source for the package is at http://people.canonical.com/~serge/seabios-0.6.0-0ubuntu1 with the .orig.tgz file at http://people.canonical.com/~serge/seabios_0.6.0.orig.tar.gz This takes exactly the release + patches which qemu-kvm uses, plus two more patches which are also needed to make boot from virtio work. -- cannot boot grub multiboot image with kvm -kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/598649 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 566792] Re: metadata service returns empty data with 200 OK
I have just ran a 400-instance test with the latest patch (from Dave's PPA, 1.6.2-0ubuntu30.3.6). I sent the following to the interested parties: email begins I just finished a 400-instances run. I am extremely glad to state I saw no occurrence of the metadata/public IP issue. Of course, we are talking about a race, but I would say that we have drastically reduced (if not completely resolved) the incidence. I favour we consider this fix done publish it ASAP. email ends -- metadata service returns empty data with 200 OK https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/566792 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 599910] [NEW] Libvirt/kvm permissions/ownership issue on upgrade from Kosmic to Lucid
Public bug reported: I just upgraded my desktop from Kosmic Koala to Lucid Lynx, and upgraded to the latest. Everything worked fine prior to the upgrade except some unrelated networking issues. I now find that I cannot launch any virtual machines using libvirt/qemu/kvm and libvirt-manager. If I try to launch a VM having only a CD-ROM image for bulk storage, I get: File /usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/engine.py, line 588, in run_domain vm.startup() File /usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/domain.py, line 150, in startup self._backend.create() File /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/libvirt.py, line 300, in create if ret == -1: raise libvirtError ('virDomainCreate() failed', dom=self) libvirtError: internal error unable to start guest: libvir: QEMU error : cannot set ownership on /var/lib/libvirt/images/finnix-93.0.iso: Permission denied This is a known bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=517304 (I don't see any comparable bug in launchpad.)
