The problem is also occouring, if the bridged devices are not touched in any
case.
Nothing was happening on the host side - all though the problem occours
somewhat sometimes randomally.

That is a ver, very, very nasty DOS bug - makes lucid complete unusable
as virtual hosting plattform.

This issue has been fixed upstream in the repository and will be

[Bug 84899] Re: SSH with GSSAPIAuthentication option on SSH servers are very slow

2010-07-19 Thread chifamba
This is still the case with Lucid.
I change to no in my local config and now ssh is faster.
I think it is important for user experience to set this to no by default and
anyone needing it can then enable it manually. This is because this bug has now
created the impression that ssh when using ubuntu/linux is slow or has a long
delay. This is not good from a general experience point of view.

I don't think we should accept slow default settings...or at least ask
the question during installation/configuration time.

[Bug 607242] [NEW] image-store needs to select kernel to boot based on host release

2010-07-19 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

For maverick UEC images, there will be 2 kernels shipped
a.) linux kernel (as copied from inside image /boot)
b.) grub boot loader. This is so that a guest can service its own kernel ([1])

Due to a bug in kvm on 10.04 (bug 598649) we will not be able to boot
grub images when the host is Lucid. However, on Maverick hosts, we will
want to boot the grub kernel.

What this means is that in one way or another, we will need for the
image store proxy to register the grub kernel when the host is maverick,
and the linux kernel when the host is lucid (or earlier).

One possible work around with this is to populate the image store with 2 images
and leave it up to the user to select the right one:
 - Ubuntu Maverick Image (for Maverick Hosts)
 - Ubuntu Maverick Image (for Lucid or older hosts)

[Bug 604730] Re: can't stop qemu-kvm, if cgroup is running

2010-07-19 Thread Serge Hallyn
I picked medium instead of high because (1) it is easily avoidable, and
(2) the system continues to run. So I didn't feel this fell into the category
of 'critical to a small number of users'. If you feel otherwise, I can be
convinced so please go ahead and change it.

On another note, I was unable to reproduce this myself (in maverick),
so still waiting for the reporter to provide the requested additional
information.

[Bug 394570] Re: Backspace via SSH only deletes last byte of characters (no IUTF8 handling, requires standardisation work)

2010-07-19 Thread Egmont Koblinger
I don't understand: why does it require an extension to SSH protocol?

Sure, one possible way would be to make ssh forward this bit of
information. However, the IUTF8 flag should be set consistently with the
locale (the character set part), which is not forwarded by ssh either -
but still set on the server.

Another approach could be to do whatever happens to the locale: when you
log on remotely, someone sets this environment variable for you. Whoever
does this (pam, login script, whatever) could also modify the terminal
settings, couldn't it? Taking this approach, you don't need to modify
the protocol, just make sure that whenever someone logs in via ssh, they
don't only get $LANG and stuff but also the stty iutf8 bit set
correctly.

Moreover, I believe the meaning of
/sys/module/vt/parameters/default_utf8 is that every newly allocated
terminal gets the iutf8 flag set automatically to this value by the
kernel. Should the ssh server or login procedure be unable to get the
locale information, they ought to respect whatever is set here. This yet
again doesn't require extending the protocol.

2010-07-19 Thread AliQ.
i don't know what was the source of this issue, i reinstalled everything and it
runs just fine, some points to mention here:
 - i enabled AMD-v VT-x virtualization on my machines since i was deploying
it with Sun virtualBox
 - i used same username and password on client as well as CLC,CC, and NC.
 - i didn't install guestAdditions (but i installed it after

so i think it's not a bug (at least for me!) anymore. :)

[Bug 573919] Re: autofs doesn't work with lucid

2010-07-19 Thread Carl Nobile
This is the same bug as 590570, but this one has been around longer.

I think the real issue underlying this bug is in bug 525154 which
relates to a race condition while starting portmap which in turn starts
statd. This only seems to be an issue if you have /var as a separate
mount point where /var is not mounted when statd is started.

Post 13 on bug 525154 seems to solve this issue, but it is only a
workaround, it does not solve the race condition if my understanding is
correct.

[Bug 573919] Re: autofs doesn't work with lucid

2010-07-19 Thread k3nt-1
Strange, because /var is mounted as part of / in my configuration
(though I faced the problem...)

[Bug 598649] Re: cannot boot grub multiboot image with kvm -kernel

2010-07-19 Thread Serge Hallyn
The qemu patch might be back-portable, but the bios change which is also needed
is not nicely back-portable to lucid, so this will have to be a maverick-only
fix.

[Bug 607466] Re: libvirt error starting domin: could not remove profile for

2010-07-19 Thread Bryan McLellan
1) stopped libvirt via the libvirt-bin init script
2) started 'libvirtd -v' manually hoping to see some debugging output
3) started the guest okay.
4) destroyed the guest
5) canceled the manual libvirt
6) started libvirt-bin again with the init script
7) started the guest okay.

Note that AppArmor was off for this process, so the workaround was
either:

a) restarting libvirt
b) restarting libvirt with apparmor off (would this matter?)
c) started libvirt by hand (clearing something?)
d) magic

[Bug 573919] Re: autofs doesn't work with lucid

2010-07-19 Thread Carl Nobile
Post 13 in bug 525154 above has solved the issue with statd, but now
autofs is failing to start. I tried to something similar with
/etc/init/autofs.conf but to no avail. Still no joy here.

k3nt-1 are you seeing the error messages in your /var/logs/boot.log file
that I posted above?
