Avoid showing unsupported syscall: 335 for pselect. This was fixed for

VMBuilder should definitely handle this more gracefully, but your
particular problem is that the libvirt uri you are passing is wrong.
It's supposed to be qemu:///system (three slashes, not two).

[Bug 586175] Re: Windows XP/2003 doesn't boot

2010-08-02 Thread Andy Lee Robinson
Andreas,

The program that created the disk image seems confused, but it worked for
creating a VM for FC11.
Windows install seems to run fine, until wanting to boot from the drive it
created.
I don't know what creates the drive image and geometry, but it is broken.

I think this is what I used to create the VM, but I have messed around
with so many configurations and methods, I'm not sure what is what
anymore.

virt-install --connect qemu:///system -n w7 -r 2048 --vcpus=2 \
--disk path=/vm/w7.img,size=20,sparse=false,format=qcow2 \
-c /vm/w7cd.iso --vnc --noautoconsole \
--os-type windows --os-variant win7 --accelerate --network=bridge:br0 --hvm

How many thousands of people have struggled with this and also got nowhere?
It just looks like the virt-install developers have not tasted their own
dogfood!

LVM is supposed to be easy - just select vm image and boot, but the more
I read about VMs, kvm, qemu, virtualbox, virsh etc, the more confused I get on
how they
relate to each other.

testdisk reports this:

[Bug 611316] Re: Segmentation fault in php5-sybase

2010-08-02 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Kurt, thanks for another bug report and your continued interest in
making Ubuntu great. :)

Is it possible that this is related to bug #602689 ? Is this on the same
machine referenced there?

Is there a small snippet of PHP code we can use to test this?

Does it fail without actually connecting to a Sybase/MS SQL server? Its
difficult to obtain access to one of these servers, so those two bits of
information would be very helpful in determining the nature of this bug.

Marking Incomplete, please return to "New" status after providing more
information.

Thanks!

2010-08-02 Thread Clint Byrum
The package xplico is not a part of Ubuntu.

However, in researching this issue, I found that a newer version of
xplico is available here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/xplico/files/

And v0.5.8 of the .deb does not include libmysqlclient16, but rather
depends on it appropriately. Installing that deb should resolve your
issue.

[Bug 612671] [NEW] Live Migration Guest Network Stops Responding

2010-08-02 Thread Moshe Ortov
Public bug reported:

After configuring 2 identical servers with KVM and then trying to
migrate an image using bridged networking from one to the other, the
guest loses network connectivity after the migration completes.

A tcpdump shows the bridged network is passing packets /from/ the guest
(a test ping run in the guest via the VNC console) and reply packets are
received and bridged back onto the guest network interface without the
guest seeing the packet (i.e. packets come from vnet0, sent out on br0,
reply comes back from br0, is forwarded onto vnet0 but the guest never
sees the reply).

tcpdump -n -i vnet0
18:19:47.072378 IP 192.168.35.49 > 192.168.35.4: ICMP echo request, id 512, seq
2816, length 40
This is the echo packet sent by the guest

18:19:47.073119 IP 192.168.35.4 > 192.168.35.49: ICMP echo reply, id 512, seq

This is the reply coming back except the actual guest does not ever see the
reply.

The packet forwarding seems to go amiss on the bridge or in qemu or

problems but nothing ever seems to answer why or how to fix it that I've
found.

I had the same problem.

I.ve tried with VirtualBox and KVM: Win Xp SP3 hang on the same point (mup.sys

Both has the same problem I believe the libvirt maybe the cause.

So I use "Raw Access" with VirtualBox that solved my problem

[Bug 602689] Re: Segmentation fault in libapache2-mod-php5 when calling methods

2010-08-02 Thread Clint Byrum
Kurt, thanks for taking the time to provide all of these details.

Without any other users able to reproduce or having reported this, its
difficult to look at this bug. I do believe with the stack trace an
extremely skilled engineer can probably have a chance at creating a
reproducible test case. Because of that I've marked the bug as Triaged.

However, this having affected only your one box, and with you being
unable to reproduce, I've marked the importance as Low.

Perhaps if more users run into this issue, or you find a way to
reproduce it, it would be prudent then to raise it to Medium importance.

[Bug 586175] Re: Windows XP/2003 doesn't boot

2010-08-02 Thread Andreas Jacob
Hi Andy

When i look at your w7 partition table output, then there seems to be a
problem with start/end cylinders.

Your first partitions last cylinder is 13, but also the start cylinder
of your second partition is 13. two partitions should not share the same
cylinder/sector! Something seems to be messed up.

I would create a loop device and then use a deep scan with "testdisk" on
that loop device. May be it's possible to correct the wrong entrys in
the partition table.

Cheers Andreas

[Bug 590173] Re: Error on restarting squid

2010-08-02 Thread Clint Byrum
Also, prakash, its worth nothing that the reason there were no replies
to this bug was because you changed the status to "Confirmed". Normally
you would want another user to do this, as many people are involved with
the process of "bug triage" where they look at bug reports with a status
of "New" and try to reproduce the reported effects.

In the future, its best to simply create the report, and leave the
status as "New', which will help interested parties find your report.

2010-08-02 Thread Clint Byrum
@prakash85, thank you for taking the time to create this bug report.

As ktp notes, this is not a bug but a feature, in that you must use the
'sudo' command to obtain super user privileges to restart squid. This is
done so that only administrative users can affect the running services
on the system.

Marked as invalid.

[Bug 576501] Re: vmbuilder doesn't recognize --ec2 flag

2010-08-02 Thread Neil Wilson
Series 12 vmbuilder just doesn't support seem to support ec2 building
yet. If you need that facility then you need to use the 0.11 branch.

I'm sure they are trying to tidy it up as it all seems a bit messy at
the moment. Really it needs refactoring so that the EC2 stuff is a
decorator pattern around the standard distro classes. Then it can be
adapted easily for different clouds.

As usual what we really need is a clone of Soren...

[Bug 612525] [NEW] apparmor profile is not good for first backend creation

2010-08-02 Thread Olivier Cortès
Public bug reported:

On a brand new Lucid installation (dist-upgraded to last version, with
slapd 2.4.21-0ubuntu5), I can't feed a new backend to slapd, it fails
with the following error :

adding new entry "olcDatabase=hdb,cn=config"
ldap_add: Other (e.g., implementation specific) error (80)
additional info: failed startup

-8<8<

The message says "/var/lib/ldap: Permission denied" but it is misleading
because :
1. the unix perms are openldap:openldap/755 on /var/lib/ldap
2. the apparmor profile usr.sbin/slapd includes "/var/lib/ldap/ r,
/var/lib/ldap/** rwk" which seems fine to me.

I used http://blogger.ziesemer.com/2010/05/openldap-ubuntu-linux.html
and http://doc.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/serverguide/C/openldap-server.html as
start for my LDAP configuration.

Here is my full run log :

sudo apt-get install slapd libnss-ldap libpam-ldap
[OK; debconf parameters: RootDN: cn=admin,dc=meta-it, dc=local, BaseDN:
dc=meta-it, dc=local, RootPW: metasecret, everything else defaults to what

  [OK]
sudo ldapadd -Y EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -f /etc/ldap/schema/backend.module.ldif
  [OK]
sudo ldapadd -Y EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -f /etc/ldap/schema/backend.hdb.ldif

SASL/EXTERNAL authentication started
SASL username: gidNumber=0+uidNumber=0,cn=peercred,cn=external,cn=auth
SASL SSF: 0
adding new entry "olcDatabase=hdb,cn=config"
ldap_add: Other (e.g., implementation specific) error (80)
additional info: failed startup

[I get the syslog output pasted before]

service apparmor stop
sudo ldapadd -Y EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -f /etc/ldap/schema/backend.hdb.ldif
  [OK]
service apparmor start

Then everything works as expected after this point.

I can prevent stopping completely apparmor by adding "/var/lib/ r," to
the usr.sbin.slapd profile and reloading apparmor, then adding my
backend.hdb.ldif, then removing the profile line and reloading apparmor.

I don't understand why this is a problem, and why slapd needs this one time
/var/lib access.
Purging the package, rm -rf /var/lib/ldap and reinstalling leads to a 100%
reproductible problem.
disabling apparmor or adding the temporary line to the apparmor profile leads
to a 100% working workaround.

Feel free to contact me for further information if needed.

[Bug 612480] [NEW] Sync antlr3 3.2-4 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2010-08-02 Thread Thierry Carrez
Public bug reported:

Please sync antlr3 3.2-4 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
Debian integrated the -headless patch, and dropped the -gcj recommends to
a Suggests: for all archs.

Changelog entries since current maverick version 3.0.1+dfsg-4ubuntu2:

antlr3 (3.2-4) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Ludovic Claude ]
  * Rebuild with a newer version of maven-debian-helper (Closes: #587499)
  * maven.rules: transform antlr 3 versions to '3.x' instead of 'debian'
  * Split packaging of gUnit jar into new libantlr3-gunit-java package
and gUnit Maven plugin into new antlr3-gunit-maven-plugin package,
split Maven plugin for Antlr into new antlr3-maven-plugin package
(Closes: #588005)
  * Update dependencies of antlr3, remove the dependencies coming from
those 3 new packages.

  [ Niels Thykier ]
  * Fixed a typo in the control so antlr3 now properly suggests
antlr3-gcj.
  * Reduced the alternative JREs to headless versions.
  * Bumped Standards-Versions to 3.9.0 - no changes required.
  * Replaced B-D on default-jdk-builddep with gcj-native-helper
and default-jdk.

 -- Ludovic Claude Wed, 21 Jul 2010
23:22:09 +0200

antlr3 (3.2-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Clean up build dependencies. (Closes: #587401)

 -- Torsten Werner Mon, 28 Jun 2010 20:49:51 +0200

antlr3 (3.2-2) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Ludovic Claude ]
  * New upstream (Closes: #579504)
  * debian/watch fixes in previous version (Closes: #570684)
  * Add missing antlr3-runtime.jar library to antlr3 wrapper script
(Closes #587212)
  * Also don't export the CLASSPATH variable, there's no need to affect
the whole environement when launching this program
  * Add man page for antlr3 script

  [ Torsten Werner ]
  * Call dh_nativejava to fill the antlr3-gcj package again. (Closes: #587306)
  * Reformat a changelog entry for the last version.

 -- Torsten Werner Sun, 27 Jun 2010 21:01:36 +0200

not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
