I've added SRU information to the bug description. I believe this is worthy of a fix for karmic, and have proposed the merge. A failure of virt-aa-helper to access a file is not necessarily fatal, as can be seen from /etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt- ff58f570-9915-eaa8-4fa6-3cba2a827850.files -- it added it to the profile just fine. While this certainly needs to be fixed in the AppArmor profile (to avoid confusion), the failure to start is something else. I believe this is essentially infinite recursion caused by the way PHP
resolves methods..
the test case basically does this
create a new Test_PHP5 object, named $this
call $this->__construct()
$this->__construct calls parent::Test(), which leaves $this as a Test_PHP5, and
maps to Test::Test()
Test::Test() calls $this->__construct(), which is mapped to
Test_PHP5::__construct()
$this->__construct() calls parent::Test() which maps to Test::Test()
... infinite recursion
This would cause issues with any PHP interpreter. On Maverick though,

[Bug 613671] Re: "undefined method `closed?' for nil:NilClass" when signing certificate
Alexandre, I had the same problem. The root cause was that the "server" directive in the client's puppet.conf did not match the hostname that was used in the puppetmaster certificate. Check your puppetmaster certificate with "sudo puppetmaster -p " (where is the hostname of the puppetmaster; check /var/lib/puppet/ssl/certs/ if unsure), and look for the Subject line. The "server" directive has to match the value of CN there. That being said, that bug is terribly annoying and degrade the user experience significantly. Could it be possible to consider applying the patch in question in the next SRU of puppet? Luke, thanks for the response. Looking at your process listing, it looks pretty normal. There's really nothing to indicate there that the system is unstable in any way. Is there anything else you can give us to help build a repeatable test case? Kernel logs, syslogs, etc? I'm marking this Incomplete again, as I don't see how users can ascertain that they are experiencing the same problem. Right, so the message is a benign warning: pci_add_option_rom: failed to find romfile "pxe-virtio.bin" If you're not trying to boot your VM over pxe-virtio, then you can safely ignore the message. If you want to boot over pxe-virtio, or you want to silence the error message, simply: sudo apt-get install kvm-pxe This could be solved by either: a) MIR'ing kvm-pxe and adding a qemu-kvm-common recommends on kvm-pxe b) patch qemu-kvm to silently ignore this condition I think (a) would be desirable for Natty. The functionality you're not getting OOTB is pxe-booting over virtio NIC. Is that what you need? If you are only worried about booting from virtio disk, you're getting that. So the message is annoying, but not harmful. If OTOH you think we should be providing pxe-booting over virtio NIC out of the box with qemu-kvm, then yeah something would need to be done, and I'm not sure what. Potential issues with the proposed patch: - this is a workaround in the smbd job, not a correct fix, which will need to be reverted later. - in the (rare) event that a user has stopped smbd manually and then changes runlevels, current upstart will give a weird hang waiting for a second local-filesystems event. - if someone has configured a loopback cifs share to be mounted at boot time, their system will hang at boot as a result of this change. So there is regression potential here from the described change to the smbd job, and I'm not really in favor of this approach. Why has the cups package now gone more than two cycles without being converted to an upstart job, which would fix this properly? Also, why does samba not re-scan for a cups server?
