[Bug 653828] [NEW] windows computers can't resolve samba share names in 10.04

2010-10-02 Thread kakaroto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

After upgrading my ubuntu server from 9.04 to 10.04, the window
computers couldn't resolve samba shared names anymore, the error code
displayed by Windows was 0x80070035.

I was using the ubuntu server as a samba server, using 'share' as the
security authentication method, it has been working very well under
previous ubuntu versions but, after upgrading to 10.04, the windows
computers can't access the server shares anymore; the linux computers
don't have any problems (I can access the shares from linux).

As a workaround, I've added the name of the server in
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts; but I'd like to know how to fix
the problem without modifying every windows computer.

[root]# dpkg -l samba
ii samba 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.2 SMB/CIFS file,
print, and login server for Unix

[root]# cat /etc/issue
Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS \n \l

Please let me know if you need additional information.

Regards,
Toshiro.

[Bug 634488] Re: new virtual machines do not boot

2010-10-02 Thread William Ahern
I ran into the same problem after upgrading from Lucid to Maverick. The
problem is that vmbuilder isn't changing the disk file format from `raw'
to `cow2' when moving the image from /tmp to the install location. To
get the VM to boot just fire up virsh, edit [vm], and change "".

If you're not familiar with vi, then run virsh like `EDITOR=nano virsh
'

[Bug 653738] [NEW] Microversion update SRU for clamav in Lucid

2010-10-02 Thread Scott Kitterman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: clamav

Clamav 0.96.3 testing and packaging is mature enough for this to go into
lucid-proposed and eventually updates.

The current package from Maverick, when built for Lucid, passes all
tests in lp:qa-regression-testing and integration testing with it's
rdepends is regression free. This update is binary compatible to the
current packages in lucid, so no rdepends are affected.

[Bug 651182] Re: Invocations of "/etc/init.d/mailman start" spawns multiple instances

2010-10-02 Thread Andrea Gelmini
Hi all,
and thanks a lot for your attention.
The simple patch in attachment fix the problem, so it means
   the bug is inside
   /usr/lib/mailman/bin/mailmanctl
   not in init script
   /etc/init.d/mailman

   I suppose there's a wrong implementation of flag '-s':

   -s/--stale-lock-cleanup
If mailmanctl finds an existing master lock, it will normally exit
with an error message. With this option, mailmanctl will perform an
extra level of checking. If a process matching the host/pid described
in the lock file is running, mailmanctl will still exit, but if no
matching process is found, mailmanctl will remove the apparently stale
lock and make another attempt to claim the master lock.

Thanks a lot for your work,
Andrea

[Bug 647664] Re: Unhelpful Security labelling error with read-only floppy image

2010-10-02 Thread Dave Gilbert
I can see that it would make sense to allow /usr/lib and /usr/share to
be read.

The wider question is how to give sane errors; the error didn't say anything
about it being the floppy image, so it was luck
that this was the only thing I'd changed other wise it would have been
difficult to track down.
Tracking down that it was the /usr/lib would have been non-trivial as well for
those of us not familiar with the rules it has.

Is the system setup to listen on port 2000? Is there maybe an old process
already listening on port 2000?

Try

sudo fuser -v -n tcp 2000/tcp

And paste the output here if it shows any processes already listening on
that port.

If there's nothing listening there, just try

sudo apt-get -f install

and it should finish any configuration steps necessary.

[Bug 653362] Re: package mail-stack-delivery 1:1.2.12-1ubuntu7 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-10-02 Thread Clint Byrum
And just like that, I see that another user has experienced this exact
same sequence of events in DpktTerminalLog.txt.

Marking Confirmed in light of that.

Setting importance to Medium, as it seems to be affecting users who are
upgrading from Lucid to Maverick, but does not affect ALL users
upgrading.

Still, it would help a lot to get an ls -lR of /etc/dovecot from either
of the original reporters.
