[Bug 653828] [NEW] windows computers can't resolve samba share names in 10.04
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba After upgrading my ubuntu server from 9.04 to 10.04, the window computers couldn't resolve samba shared names anymore, the error code displayed by Windows was 0x80070035. I was using the ubuntu server as a samba server, using 'share' as the security authentication method, it has been working very well under previous ubuntu versions but, after upgrading to 10.04, the windows computers can't access the server shares anymore; the linux computers don't have any problems (I can access the shares from linux). As a workaround, I've added the name of the server in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts; but I'd like to know how to fix the problem without modifying every windows computer. [Bug 651182] Re: Invocations of "/etc/init.d/mailman start" spawns multiple instances
Hi all, and thanks a lot for your attention. The simple patch in attachment fix the problem, so it means the bug is inside /usr/lib/mailman/bin/mailmanctl not in init script /etc/init.d/mailman I suppose there's a wrong implementation of flag '-s': -s/--stale-lock-cleanup If mailmanctl finds an existing master lock, it will normally exit with an error message. With this option, mailmanctl will perform an extra level of checking. If a process matching the host/pid described in the lock file is running, mailmanctl will still exit, but if no matching process is found, mailmanctl will remove the apparently stale lock and make another attempt to claim the master lock. I can see that it would make sense to allow /usr/lib and /usr/share to be read. The wider question is how to give sane errors; the error didn't say anything about it being the floppy image, so it was luck that this was the only thing I'd changed other wise it would have been difficult to track down.
