[Bug 661547] Re: Existing patch gssapi.diff makes guess_service_principal produce garbage

2010-11-11 Thread Eric Heydrick
I can confirm that the openldap package from ppa:ssalley fixes likewise
on maverick. Looks like the other openldap update is almost in -updates.
Hopefully we can get this one in there ASAP.

[Bug 673836] Re: Doesn't use java picked trough debian alternatives.

2010-11-11 Thread Thierry Carrez
This is by design... The alternatives system is there for users to pick
what JVM to use when the user types "java" on the CLI, not really to
select which JVM Tomcat6 should use. In particular, you might want
something different in both scenarios.

The Tomcat6 JVM is set in /etc/default/tomcat6. If unspecified, it
chooses the first available in the list you mentioned.

[Bug 584048] Re: kvm images losing connectivity w/bridged network

2010-11-11 Thread Tais Plougmann Hansen
I have not had the opportunity to test multiple guests on the Maverick
host since I've had quite a few problems with it.

Right now it seems like the problem I'm seeing is related to a vlan bug
very similar to the one reported in bug #658460. The outages appear
random but it looks like it occurs when there haven't been any traffic
for a while and the guests mac is cleared from arp tables in the
network. It may not be kvm related at all although I've only observed
the outage in a kvm guest so far.

[Bug 673427] Re: DHCP with LDAP config should load class definitions first

2010-11-11 Thread Karsten Becker
As you can see in the LDIF, the classes are declared before the pools.
If you don't do that, DHCPD will throw an error.

To take care of the correct order is "easy" if you load the stuff
manually with LDIF files in the LDAP. But we use GoSA (www.gosa-
project.org) here, which provides a graphical webgui to administer ther
DHCP via LDAP. So we cannot take care of the right order.

To load classes before other declarations if the config is saved in LDAP
should be provided natively by DHCP. That's my wish...

Ran into this in EC2 instance as well, where symlink for log directories

run upgrades, re-create symlinks).

Do the outages simply happen at random, or when you shut down another
guest?

If the former, please file a new bug, and I'll ask for the relevant
information there. Thanks.

[Bug 673705] Re: running guests freeze when a guest is powered down

2010-11-11 Thread Serge Hallyn
Sorry, Mathiaz, that recipe tests for connections which just
pause randomly. We need to test when a guest shuts down,
or, in other words, when the veth device is removed from the
bridge. So:

1. fire up a guest with libvirt. Monitor its network
continuously (i.e. fire up a screen session over ssh doing
while [ 1 ]; do echo -n .; sleep 5s; done
and keep that open so you can see any pauses.

2. Get a usable ns_exec:

git clone git://git.sr71.net/~hallyn/cr_tests.git
cd cr_tests
git checkout ns_exec
make ns_exec
cp ns_exec /bin/

3. Create a veth tunnel

sudo ip link add type veth

4. Open two root terminals to configure a network namespace for our test

terminal 1:
 ip link add type veth
terminal 2:
 /bin/ns_exec -cmn /bin/bash
 echo $$ # call this $pid henceforth
terminal 1:
 ifconfig veth0 0.0.0.0 up
 brctl addif virbr0 veth0
ip link set veth1 netns $pid # use pid from above
terminal 2:
 ifconfig veth1 up
 dhclient veth1

5. Now we want to emulate shutting down a libvirt guest. Let's try
several ways:

A. From the host root shell, just remove veth0 from the bridge:

brctl delif virbr0 veth0

B. Shut down the veth interfaces. Try veth0 and veth1 on separate
runs (ifconfig veth0 down).

C. Just exit the child shell.

D. Shut down the child shell, and then remove the veth interfaces
altogether, by doing:

ip link del veth0

After each test please remove the veth devices:

ip link del veth0

Just to make sure that the commands in step 4 (referencing veth0/veth1) stay
correct.

[Bug 306430] Re: ~/.ssh/config does not handle multiple hosts correctly

2010-11-11 Thread Oliver Dungey
I have been experiencing similar problems in pattern lists but only
noticed because I could not get the negating function to work - in the
man page it says:

"Patterns within pattern-lists may be negated by preceding them with an
exclamation mark (`!')"

So I was trying to do this sort of thing:

Host "!20.*.*.*"
ProxyCommand nc -X connect -x 20.44.34.33:8118 %h %p

This should use the proxy for anything not on my 20 network but it just
gets ignored.

When are we likely to see this in a Ubuntu distro? Now that a huge
number of people in big corporates are working behind proxy servers and
using the Cloud via ssh I would suggest this is a critical issue that
will hurt Ubuntu takeup.

[Bug 584048] Re: kvm images losing connectivity w/bridged network

2010-11-11 Thread Tais Plougmann Hansen
I think I have this problem (or the problem at #633392) with a guest
running on a Maverick kvm host. But only on Maverick. I'm not seeing it
on any of the Lucid hosts.

The only peculiar difference I've found between the two hosts is that
tcpdumping the bridge shows double externally broadcasted packets on
Maverick, but not on Lucid.

[Bug 579892] Re: libvirt should not use the MAC address assigned to tap devices/vnet interfaces by the TAP/TUN driver

2010-11-11 Thread Serge Hallyn
This debdiff adds the patch which fixes this bug.

** Patch added: "debdiff of patch against current lucid libvirt"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/579892/+attachment/1730070/+files/mac.debdiff

** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu)
Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released

** Description changed:

On Ubuntu 10.04 I have problems using libvirt with a bridge because the
TUN devices get random mac addresses and thus, change the bridge device
mac address, which takes the lower mac addres of all devices attached to
the bridge. The main and most critical problem is that, sometimes, we
lose network connectivity for several seconds (usually 10-20 seconds) on
the libvirt host and all its guests when a guest is powered off.

Searching for similar problems I found my problem described at
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=571991
+
+ Impact: Random loss of network connectivity on guest power on/off.
+
+ Fix: This bug was fixed upstream and in maverick, using the same patch
+ (modulo porting0 which is added by the debdiff attached here. It
+ forces libvirt to ensure that the bridge mac address is lower than
+ that of any of its devices.
+
+ Patch: debdiff is attached
+
+ Instructions: Power bridged guests on/off in libvirt, while continuously
+ checking network connectivity to existing guests.
+
+ Regression: The patch itself should definately be safe, since it is
+ ported from the fix in the redhat bug.

2010-11-11 Thread Rossco
Thanks James,

I remember that synaptic was doing something, I didn't realize it was the
problem.
I retried the upgrade and everything worked fine.

Thanks again
Rossco

[Bug 623342] Re: ntlm_auth returns invalid NT_KEY

2010-11-11 Thread Lawrence Troup
Is there are reason why the priority of this bug is so low? This issue
prevents deployment of freeradius authenticating against Active
Directory in a corporate environment.

My company has recently upgraded to using the LucidLynx server release
of Ubuntu on our main servers - and this issue means that it is no
longer possible to perform the necessary authentication for users on our
network. In particular, this means we are no longer able to provide
wireless network access to our employees - which is a serious problem.

Given that LucidLynx is a LTS release, is there a plan to release the
version of Samba containing the fix for this bug to Lucid soon?

[Bug 40189] Re: autofs needs to be restarted to pick up some shares

2010-11-11 Thread Ian Ross Williams
I can confirm that Hans' upstart configuration change in post #25 fixes
the bug in Karmic 9.10. I didn't notice the start up time being any
slower but I haven't measured it.

[Bug 673885] Re: package openssh-server 1:5.3p1-3ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-11-11 Thread James Page
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It appears that during the installation process, another process had
locked /var/cache/debconf/config.dat. fuser -v will return the locking
process if any. Kill it and try performing the upgrade again. Most
often, this is only a transient situation and fuser will return nothing.
Simply performing the update again should solve this issue.

Please update this bug report if this resolves your issue.

Thanks

[Bug 673919] [NEW] Syntax error in geoip plugins

2010-11-11 Thread imagine
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: awstats

In the files /usr/share/awstats/plugins/geoip_city_maxmind.pm and
geoip_region_maxmind.pm there is an unescaped ampersand: 'AE',"Armed
Forces Europe, Middle East, & Canada"

When outputting an Awstats report via
/awstats.pl?output=plugin_geoip_city_maxmind in XHTML this creates a
syntax error and the page cannot be displayed. Please change the & to
