[Bug 674408] [NEW] setting up a share from nautilus did not install smb

2010-11-12 Thread bob
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

I just created a share from nautilus from the first time on my ubuntu
10.04 machine.  My other (ubuntu 10.10) machine couldn't see the share;
it was only after I ran shares-admin and installed the packages prompted
by that application, that the share became visible to the other machine.

[Bug 674417] [NEW] unable to get logs either in daemon nor foreground

2010-11-12 Thread Mathieu Alorent
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tftp-hpa

# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release:10.04

ii tftpd-hpa 5.0-11ubuntu2
HPA's tftp server

I would like to have verbose output of tftpd-hpa to see errors (which
files are requested by clients)

I've added -vvv in /etc/default/tftpd-hpa (on TFTP_OPTIONS) but
nothing, my daemon.log stay empty...

I've also tried to lauch it from command line with --foreground, but I
don't any logs too.

Note: This has worked on Hardy

Mysql package started to fail on upgrades and updates. Basically it sets

to let it start properly and package to be fully installed.

[Bug 674543] [NEW] package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-11-12 Thread Patrick Schmalstig
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu updater tried to install this package but has failed. According
to the details dialog... it was trying to downgrade MySQL from 5.12 to
5.1. Why is it downgrading?

Ubuntu release Lucid Linux (10.04)

What I expected to happen: It to be correctly installed... but then
again if it was a downgrade package I don't want it installing unless
absolutely necessary.

What had happened instead: the package failed to install.

[Bug 673313] Re: ssh does not honor -i switch with config file

2010-11-12 Thread Patrick Donnelly
This problem does not exist on Debian 5.0 (I realize you wanted to check
Ubuntu 10.04):

batr...@batbytes:~$ ssh -v
OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5, OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19 Oct 2007

batr...@batbytes:~$ ssh -i /home/batrick/.ssh/id_rsa.subversion
batr...@svn.batbytes.com svnserve -t
( success ( 2 2 ( ) ( edit-pipeline svndiff1 absent-entries commit-revprops
depth log-revprops partial-replay ) ) ) quit

(I confirmed through debug output it doesn't attempt authentication
using .ssh/id_rsa.) This version of ssh is 5.1 versus 5.5 on Ubuntu
10.10:

batr...@neverwinter:~$ ssh -v
OpenSSH_5.5p1 Debian-4ubuntu4, OpenSSL 0.9.8o 01 Jun 2010

2010-11-12 Thread Steven Wagner
Serge -
Ill jump to the point and tell you that Ive tried without virtio as well, and
the problem remains that same. Thanks for your continued help on this issue. Im
blocked on migrating any windows hosts for now. The only other time ive seen
something like this was when my server has Cpu frequency scaling turned on
before..its would cause live hosts to lock and go to 99% cpu usage. But ive
already made sure cpu frequency scaling is off.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

those, so installing them will prevent future automatic updates):
