[Bug 697676] Re: ntp kills polar bears
Hi Cristian, Thank you very much for bringing this patch to our attention. It is, indeed, quite interesting, and I, too, very much have an interest in the Ubuntu's server's energy efficiency. There is an issue, here, though, in that ntp is an absolutely fundamental package found on most Ubuntu desktops and servers. The patch from Fedora, although vetted by Fedora users, is non-trivial. Quite the opposite, it's pretty involved and intricate. Given the nature of ntp in Ubuntu, I advise that we work with Debian on this issue. It would be best for both Debian and Ubuntu users to keep this package as close as possible between Debian/Ubuntu. [Bug 341817] Re: dhcpd wont start due to rndc.key permissions
I've tested again: group bind has users: dhcpd group dhcpd has users: bind apparmor.d/usr.sbin.named apparmor.d/usr.sbin.dhcpd3 both have a line: /etc/bind/** r, -> apparmor allows them to read the file. /etc/bind is owned by bind:bind, rwxrwx--- /etc/bind/rndc.key is owned by bind:bind, rw-r- -> named fails to read the file, dhcpd fails to read the file /etc/bind/rndc.key is owned by bind:bind, rw-r--r-- -> (bad idea but: named can read the file, dhcpd can read the file). I'd say: at the point in time named, dhcpd try to read the file they are running user bind (named), user dhcpd (dhcpd3) but not the required group! [Bug 704509] [NEW] syslog logging is broken in natty
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cloud-init syslog logging is broken in natty, while it works fine in maverick. on a maverick instance, /var/log/cloud-init.log will have lines like" [CLOUDINIT] 2011-01-18 16:44:19,830 - cloud-init[INFO]: cloud-init start-local running: Tue, 18 Jan 2011 16:44:19 +. up 11.47 seconds ... [Bug 704283] Re: insufficient details for "a newer build available" message
Thanks for taking the time to open a bug. I think that I'm going to "fix" this issue by removing the updates check from cloud-init (bug 653220). In 10.10 and later (and we're getting there on 10.04) images, there is really no need for this check. ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/704283 Title: insufficient details for "a newer build available" message -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 558793] Re: net ads dns register fails in 2008 R2 domain
Ok, they are good after all. Samba doesn't add a PTR record, so these patches didn't help there. When the DNS doesn't know about the host, it'll create a new A record for it on domain join, and that works with these patches. So it was a false alarm. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/558793 Title: net ads dns register fails in 2008 R2 domain -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
