[Bug 722505] [NEW] openssh (1:4.7p1-8ubuntu2) hardy-proposed MISSES UPDATES FROM openssh (1:4.7p1-8ubuntu1.2) hardy-security

2011-02-21 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Public bug reported:

Regression in hardy-proposed: ssh-vulnkey disappeared:

openssh (1:4.7p1-8ubuntu2) hardy-proposed; urgency=low

  * Backport from upstream:
- Only listen for IPv6 connections on AF_INET6 sockets (LP: #713002).

 -- Colin Watson Tue, 08 Feb 2011 11:49:01 +

openssh (1:4.7p1-8ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * Resynchronise with Debian. Remaining changes:
- Add support for registering ConsoleKit sessions on login.

 -- Colin Watson Sun, 06 Apr 2008 12:44:11 +0100

Top of changelog.Debian.gz from hardy-security:

openssh (1:4.7p1-8ubuntu1.2) hardy-security; urgency=low

  * Add a FILES section to ssh-vulnkey(1) (thanks, Hugh Daniel).

  * ssh-vulnkey handles options in authorized_keys (LP: #230029), and treats

# as introducing a comment even if it is preceded by whitespace (thanks

Colin Watson)

 -- Jamie Strandboge Wed, 14 May 2008 08:32:08 -0400

openssh (1:4.7p1-8ubuntu1.1) hardy-security; urgency=low

  * Mitigate OpenSSL security vulnerability thanks to Colin Watson:

- Add key blacklisting support. Keys listed in

/etc/ssh/blacklist.TYPE-LENGTH will be rejected for authentication by

sshd, unless "PermitBlacklistedKeys yes" is set in

  /etc/ssh/sshd_config.

- Add a new program, ssh-vulnkey, which can be used to check keys

  against these blacklists.

- Depend on openssh-blacklist.

- Force dependencies on libssl0.9.8 / libcrypto0.9.8-udeb to at least

  0.9.8g-4ubuntu3.1.

- Automatically regenerate known-compromised host keys, with a

critical-priority debconf note. (I regret that there was no time to

  gather translations.)

  * added README.compromised-keys thanks to Colin Watson

  * References

CVE-2008-0166

http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-612-1

 -- Jamie Strandboge Mon, 12 May 2008 23:44:33 -0400

openssh (1:4.7p1-8ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * Resynchronise with Debian. Remaining changes:

- Add support for registering ConsoleKit sessions on login.

 -- Colin Watson Sun, 06 Apr 2008 12:44:11 +0100

Please resynchronise, thanks!

[Bug 714699] Re: VMs fail to get metadata from time to time

2011-02-21 Thread Chintana Wilamuna
I have seen this bug in two different Eucalyptus installations. I did
not check whether it's reproducible because the set of servers that we
run our private cloud is being used heavily and generally not used as a
test bed for UEC. Installation was done using UEC CD install.

2011-02-21 Thread Ken Werner
I think this the issue has been fixed by #643171. I do not see this
testcase failing using a recent (e)glibc and GCC. Could anyone of the
original reporters check if it works for them? Please make sure that you
use at least glibc 2.12.1-0ubuntu11 and GCC 4.5.

[Bug 584910] Re: libvirt can't add host definitions to DHCP without network restart

2011-02-21 Thread graemev
On the chance that it helps. I observed the following behavior:

in virsh

net-edit default
 ... add and entry(call this version 1)
net-destroy default
net-start default

/var/lib/libvirt/network/default.xml is changed but
/var/lib/libvirt/dnsmasq/default.hostfile is NOT

net-edit default
... edit the MAC address on an unrelated (junk) entry (call this version 2)
net-destroy default
net-start default

Now /var/lib/libvirt/dnsmasq/default.hostfile is changed , but it
reflects the file called version 1 above.

Seems to lag one version behind.

[Bug 722594] [NEW] tlsv1 alert decrypt error

2011-02-21 Thread TomDV
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: puppet

There is a bug in the default apache puppetmaster vhost that's included

Hi Clint,

Thanks for your concern about the snmp community name. In the original uploaded
config the community name was a fake one already (zwaargeheim = verysecret).
Now I have changed the IP-address too.
It is no problem to me to change the visibility back to public.
Good to see the the bug is reproducible.

The backtrace shows that this is from the pgsql PAM module. A quick

IPv4 when it may not be, resulting in a potential overflow of the buffer
it creates to hold an IP address.

Here is the patch that fixes this issue. Instead of moving backup file,
it just copies it. Cause of that upgrades of the package won't override

[Bug 722770] [NEW] openipmi: change lock file path since /var/lock/subsys/ does not exist

2011-02-21 Thread Raubvogel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openipmi

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS
Release:10.04

apt-cache policy openipmi
openipmi:
  Installed: 2.0.16-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.0.16-1ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.0.16-1ubuntu1 0
500 http://mirror.monetra.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

(mirror.monetra.com is out local ubuntu mirror)

In /etc/init.d/openipmi, the path for the lock file is defined as
LOCKFILE=/var/lock/subsys/ipmi, which is AFAIK rather redhatian. Also,
the directory subsys does not exist in debian/ubuntu.

Proposed solution: change path to

[Bug 722133] Re: ntpdate script doesn't load configuration file

2011-02-21 Thread C de-Avillez
Thank you for opening this bug and helping make Ubuntu better.

The /etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate script *does* load the necessary
configuration. This is done by the ntpdate-debian script calling within.

Can you please expand on why it did not work for you?

[Bug 722133] Re: ntpdate script doesn't load configuration file

2011-02-21 Thread Tomas Bosak
In my case the configuration file wasn't loaded until I changed the
script file. Therefore time in my system wasn't correctly set according
to configuration. I forgot to mention that the OS is Ubuntu Server
edition. By "necessary configuration" you mean the /etc/default/ntpdate
file?

[Bug 722815] [NEW] apparmor prevents ntp from reading gpsd

2011-02-21 Thread John Nogatch
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ntp

Ubuntu 10.10
ntp 1:4.2.4p8+dfsg-1ubuntu6

With gpsd installed and a USB GPS device plugged in, xgps shows that GPS
data is available, but "ntpq -p" does not display it. "server" and
"fudge" lines had already been added to /etc/ntp.conf & ntp restarted.

/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.ntpd needs to have 1 line added, "capability
ipc_owner," (after the line "capability ipc_lock,") and then apparmor
and ntp need to be restarted. "ntpq -p" then shows the time obtained
from the GPS.

The man page for shmat(2) indicates that EACCES is returned if the
process lacks CAP_IPC_OWNER. Perhaps if ntp requested access with
SHM_RDONLY, owner capability might not be required? Does adding
"capability ipc_owner," open a security hole?

[Bug 722621] Re: Sync mailman 1:2.1.14-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-02-21 Thread Benjamin Drung
The package will be synced regardless of the Importance. Changing the
Importance won't get it processed faster. Besides that, the development
release (currently natty) has no security support. We have to fix
security holes till the release, but not earlier.

Does this security issue affects other series too?
