Re: [Bug 741661] Re: Web UI does not work from default install (2.1.0~bzr-2009-0ubuntu1)l
Hi David, Thanks for testing. Do you have any idea what that error/fault means? I'm unfamiliar with it. Also, is this a 'regression' with the new upload? Or just a new issue in that we're getting further into cobbler functionality now? ie, I would like to upload what we have now, and continue burning down issues like this incrementally, assuming that the current upload hasn't actually *caused* this regression... I suspect that this might have something to do with file and directory permissions in /var/lib/cobbler/somewhere. Something probably needs to be chmod'ed or chown'ed to www-data. Hi Dustin, Just in the process of testing on a fresh Natty install. Judging from this: http://www.mail-archive.com/cobbler- de...@lists.fedorahosted.org/msg01200.html I believe it is an issue with the latest upstream source. [Bug 750371] [NEW] squid causing /var to stay busy during shutdown
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: squid I'm running Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS with latest version of squid 2.7.STABLE7-1ubuntu12.2. This is a default install - there have been no changes to /etc/squid.conf. When I shutdown or reboot the system, I get the following error: * Unmounting local filesystems... umount2: Device or resource busy umount: /var: device is busy. (In some cases useful info about processes that use the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1)) umount2: Device or resource busy umount2: Device or resource busy umount: /dev/mapper/vg01-usr busy - remounted read-only [fail] When the system starts up again, I can see the following message: /dev/mapper/vg01-var: recovering journal It appears the /var partition was not cleanly unmounted during shutdown. Obviously, there is a risk of filesystem corruption here. FYI, i have /var and other important mountpoints as separate partitions (using LVM and ext4). To confirm my suspicions of squid still running during shutdown, I checked /var/log/squid/cache.log and there is no indication that it received the signal to terminate. In fact, cache.log hints at this problem while the system is being brought up again: Rebuilding storage in /var/spool/squid (DIRTY) Only when I manually run "stop squid", then cache.log would report that squid stopped successfully: Preparing for shutdown after 0 requests Waiting 30 seconds for active connections to finish FD 14 Closing HTTP connection Shutting down... To test whether /var was locked by squid during shutdown, I added a script to run "ls /var/run | grep squid" and "lsof | grep var" before filesystems are unmounted. And voila! ls /var/run | grep squid: squid.pid lsof | grep var: squid 971 proxy cwd DIR 251,44096 130613/var/spool/squid squid 971 proxy 5u REG 251,4 13617 128678 /var/log/squid/cache.log squid 971 proxy 7w REG 251,4 0 128724 /var/log/squid/access.log squid 971 proxy 9w REG 251,4 0 128789 /var/log/squid/store.log squid 971 proxy 11w REG 251,4 48 130308 /var/spool/squid/swap.state Hence, the next system startup would result in /var recovering journal again. [Bug 741661] Re: Web UI does not work from default install (2.1.0~bzr-2009-0ubuntu1)l
OK, just to clarify a bunch of stuff: 1) The original cobbler-2.1.0-0ubuntu1 packages worked once you reconfigured the the cobbler_web.conf and re-created the symlinks 2) The cobbler_web.conf is /NOT/ fixed in cobbler-2.1.0-0ubuntu2. With this package I still had to change the authz_configfile setting in modules.conf and `chown www-data:www-data /var/lib/cobbler/webui_sessions` before I could login. 3) Using the package in your PPA (cobbler-2.1.0-0ubuntu3~ppa1) the install completes fine and the web-config is working out of the box. ** BUT ** The new bug concerning "tainted file location" errors now exists in both the PPA:cobbler-2.1.0-0ubuntu3~ppa1 and cobbler-2.1.0-0ubuntu2 (current in Natty). I'll raise a new bug for the "Tainted File Location". If you merge your changes for the postinst/postrm and config files that should resolve this bug. There is a patch for the new bug, but that can be discussed separately. [Bug 705395] Re: $domain is not available in libvirtxml.tmpl
I don't believe this bug is valid. I tested it by exploiting the fact that '$domain' is used in /etc/vmbuilder/ubuntu/etc_hosts.tmpl. So, I ran: vmbuilder kvm ubuntu --suite=lucid --mirror=http://localhost:3142/us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ --config=my.cfg where my.cfg contained: [ubuntu] domain = fakehallyn.com hostname = myvm = The /etc/hosts on the resulting machine contained my entries. In your example .cfg file, you have 'domain' under [kvm/ubuntu]. Since you didn't show me your templates I can't be sure, but I suspect you needed to use [kvm] or [ubuntu]. I'm marking this Invalid. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. [Bug 668368] Re: Default [homes] share template uses incorrect %S macro.
According to the upstream bug report: """ To my understanding, %S (== the name of the service connected to) is appropriate here, since the user connects to a share with name equal to the user's name, so in this special case, %S is the same as the username. """ So it is unclear if changing from %U to %S is actually appropriate here. Please investigate further and re-subscribe sponsors when a more definitive solution is identified. ** Bug watch added: Samba Bugzilla #7766 https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7766 ** Changed in: samba (Debian) Importance: Undecided => Unknown ** Changed in: samba (Debian) Status: New => Unknown ** Changed in: samba (Debian) Remote watch: None => Samba Bugzilla #7766 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668368 Title: Default [homes] share template uses incorrect %S macro. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
