Re: [Bug 535583] Excessive logging by apcsmart program
Hi Lupe, since we now have an apcsmart maintainer, I'm forwarding this issue to him. @Michal: could you please have a look at this issue [1], and give us your feeling? cheers, Arnaud -- [1] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/535583 2011/2/15 Lupe Christoph l...@lupe-christoph.de On Tuesday, 2011-02-15 at 13:16:58 -, Arnaud Quette wrote: this is not the problem. This code is in the smartmode() function of apcsmart.c: http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/nut/trunk/drivers/apcsmart.c we see the 5 attempts to go to smart mode ('Y' command), but my aim is to understand why it is failing, and how to cleanly solve this without impacting support for other units. I found no code that does five attempts. But this code in main.c, starting on Line 618: while (!exit_flag) { struct timeval timeout; gettimeofday(timeout, NULL); timeout.tv_sec += poll_interval; upsdrv_updateinfo(); while (!dstate_poll_fds(timeout, extrafd) !exit_flag) { /* repeat until time is up or extrafd has data */ upsdrv_updateinfo() calls smartmode(). dstate_poll_fds() checks if there is any file descriptor that is available. In our case: select(7, [4 5 6], NULL, NULL, {1, 999837}) = 1 (in [4], left {1, 999835}) FD 4 is the serial line, which is passed to dstate_poll_fds() as extrafd. When there is data that can be read from the UPS no code in dstate_poll_fds() reads from extrafd, there is only code that reads from the other input FDs. The outer loop above also ignores extrafd. exit_flag is never set, so it continues. And because there is an active file descriptor, the select returns immediately (actually it takes two microseconds). The solution is to add code that reads all data from extrafd and discards it because nobody asked for it. I would also close and reopen the serial line in smartmode(). I would prepare a patch if I knew more about the I/O abstractions used in the nut driver code. Sorry. [Bug 667269] Re: winbind crashes
It's been 36 hours, and have not got the rpc_pipe_np_smb_conn crash on any of the 3 machines that I installed the 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.6 package. This particular rpc_pipe_np_smb_conn crash, as I call it, is covered here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/753330. So once this ~dfsg-1ubuntu3.6 package package is made generally available and I install it on my 80 machines, then I will go back to the original problem that I initiated here and try to get more information for you all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/667269 Title: winbind crashes -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 765224] Re: import from mini.iso fails
What appears to be is that the import expects the .disk folder regardless of whether you are specifying the distro or not. Since bug #765254 won't be fixed, I guess that the best approach would be to patch the current code to ignore the check of the .disk folder (or try to obtain the information from there) if we are specifying the distro in the import command. [Bug 191251] Re: [needs-packaging] php5-embed
*sigh* Three years after this was first reported, another round of server installs, and still no package. Ondrej, There are applications that use php embed other than phc -- I need it for plphp -- php for postgresql databases. Out of curiousity... since I'm not a package maintainer, how much extra time would maintaining a package for this really entail? Are we talking an hour or two a year? Or an extra 100 hours a year? Once you've got the PHP source code unpacked and configured for any of the other SAPIs, it only takes two or three extra commands ('./configure --enable-embed', 'make', 'make install') to actually get the embed library installed on the system. Is it that much more to package that up along with all the other SAPI packages? I'm not asking to be facetious, I'm just curious if it really is a ton of extra time to maintain an extra package like this or not. ---Lawrence -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191251 Title: [needs-packaging] php5-embed -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 765224] Re: import from mini.iso fails
Ok so after looking at it now, it seems that the issue is self.process_repos() when issuing the following command: cobbler import --name=natty-i386 --path=/mnt --breed=ubuntu --os- version=natty Apparently there's some kind of incompatibilities as there are two functions with the same name. One does nothing, the other creates repositories for the newly added distros and is hardcoded to: repo.set_mirror( http://ftp.%s.debian.org/debian/dists/%s; % ( 'us' , '@@suite@@' ) ) and security_repo.set_mirror( http://security.debian.org/debian-security/dists/%s/updates; % '@@suite@@' ) However, this function doesn't in fact seem to be used at all and I believe it might not even be necessary. or, it was some left over from unfinished code. I'd say that for now, the safest bet would be to not call the function in question to avoid the failure. When doing so, the mini ISO imports correctly and as mentioned, but it does not point to any preseed (and the ISO doesn't come with any either). I'll keep investigating but for now It will just be enough to patch that out (ignore the call to the function). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cobbler in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765224 Title: import from mini.iso fails -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
