[Bug 668933] Re: autofs5 may fail if map contains utf8 characters

2011-04-22 Thread Alexey Loukianov
Well, generally speaking, yes, I can, but it would take a long time as
I'm not using Ubuntu and its derived distros like Linux Mint at home or
on any server I administer. Besides that I'm not sure that it should be
patched into distro package exactly as I had posted here as the solution
above was quick-n-dirty hack I had made in 5 minutes while being helping
one of my customers to resolve the problems they been having with
autofs5 + samba.

[Bug 768846] [NEW] autofs does not mount /net/host

2011-04-22 Thread Massimo Dal Zotto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: autofs5

Following the example in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Autofs I'm
trying to automount the root of a NFS server but it doesn't work:

$ ls -l /net/server
ls: cannot access /net/server: No such file or directory

$ ls -l /net/server/
ls: cannot access /net/server: No such file or directory

However the automount succeds if I append a . or a subdir after the
server path:

$ ls -l /net/server/.
total 124
drwxr-xr-x   2 root root  4096 2011-04-20 22:25 bin
drwxr-xr-x   2 root root  4096 2009-10-30 10:50 boot
...

$ ls -l /net/server/bin
total 6732
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root   4 2010-10-11 14:21 ash - dash
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root  801808 2010-08-10 21:58 bash
...

and after the server root has been automounted it works also with the
server path only:

$ ls -l /net/server
total 124
drwxr-xr-x   2 root root  4096 2011-04-20 22:25 bin
drwxr-xr-x   2 root root  4096 2009-10-30 10:50 boot
...

With previous versions of autofs (autofs5_5.0.5-0ubuntu2 of
ubuntu-10.10) I was able to automount the path /net/server. After a
fresh install of ubuntu-11.04-beta2-alternate-i386 this is no more
possible.

[Bug 637889] Re: bacula-director-mysql : debconf: Unknown template field '_description'

2011-04-22 Thread Dianne Holder
I've never done this before, so I hope I'm using the forum correctly.

I have the same scenario Chris, but I have a fresh install of Ubuntu
10.10. Now I'm not able to install any other packages as this failed
installation is retried with every other install I do. Was there an
update to the bacula-director-mysql package to correct this? Is there a
work around by setting up the database and user in mysql before
installing Bacula Director?

Hello Chris...
I cannot tell how much I appreciate your willingness to give this a look with
me!! I've been in network technologies since 1992, but I'm just starting with

I have attached a txt file of the complete output from my attempt to

problem is..

Thanks so MUCH!!

[Bug 767218] Re: Guest machines crashed during apt-get update/upgrade on Lucid

2011-04-22 Thread sysadmin-nawfi
Serge,

We'd have to go back a ways to get the logs you need. What kind of
oopses did you have in mind?

I think most of it is explained above, i.e.:

1) An update to some component of libvirt and/or kvm was part of an
update to the VM _host_.

2) Upon installing the update, the update process itself killed off the running
kvm's (two of them).
I watched it happen before my eyes.

3) The kvm's you see listed _were_ after I restarted them manually.
They did not auto-restart after the update.

My whole point in arguing that this is a serious bug is that messing
with VM's is a whole new class of issue for updating server
environments. It's one thing to have some update programs know how to
stop/restart some process (such as a relatively time-insensitive SMTP
server) but it's a whole 'nother thing when you take down a complete
VM!!! The host simply cannot know what all the dependencies are on the
running VM.

Hence, this is _really_ important!

I'll include the term.log and dpkg.log files from the relevant time
window. If there is something else you need, I can uplink it.

STK

[Bug 769064] [NEW] [Maverick] autofs5 leaves too many orphaned mount points in /proc/mounts and reboots takes forever

2011-04-22 Thread Leonardo Borda
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: autofs5

Overview:

In an environment with over 11K mount points in the table (/proc/mounts) and
using autofs5 with autofs5-ldap support, rebooting the machine takes forever
since autofs leaves many orphaned entries in /proc/mounts.
Running automount -dvf, then hitting ctrl-c does the right thing and unmounts
all mounts fine.

Reproducible: 100%
$ sudo stop autofs
Password:
autofs stop/waiting
$ cat /proc/mounts | wc -l

Workaround:
Use Lucid. Behaviour does not happen in Lucid however it does happen in
Maverick and in the new Natty release.

2011-04-22 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for the extra info. Absolutely this is a very important bug.
It's not supposed to happen at all.

Unfortunately the logs in comments #5 and #6 don't have any info about
libvirt or kvm updates. They appear to end around March 25, whereas the
bug appears to have happened on April 5. can you upload the files which
do not have .N.gz suffixes, i.e.

term.log
and
dpkg.log?

I'm raising the severity to critical until I learn more.

re-installed qemu-kvm.  Could not reproduce.

2011-04-22 Thread Leonardo Borda
Hi Serge,

I did some testing too and I could not reproduce the error.
What I notice was when logged using Gnome once the update stops libvirt-bin
sometimes it closes virt-manager or it stops listing the virtual machines which
is considered a normal behaviour.
In none of the cases I had my machines crashing although I lost communication
to virt-manager and I could not see them on the window.

During installation of several packages (krb5-config, krb5-user), when a
dialog popped up, I provided correct information about my realm.
Information that has worked in the past on other machines.

When I then ran kinit I got Cannot find KDC for requested realm while
getting initial credentials.

The fix was to rewrite the realm name in uppercase in /etc/krb5.conf.

[Bug 769354] [NEW] elinks accepts self-signed ssl certificates without warning

2011-04-22 Thread Steve Beattie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: elinks

elinks accepts self-signed certificates without warning or raising an
error. Sadly, this is a regression that got introduced somewhere between
hardy and karmic. With hardy's version (0.11.3-5ubuntu2):

  # elinks -dump   -eval 'set connection.ssl.cert_verify = 1'
https://alioth.debian.org/account/login.php
  ELinks: SSL error

with karmic and newer:

   # elinks -dump   -eval 'set connection.ssl.cert_verify = 1'
https://alioth.debian.org/account/login.php
