[Bug 780955] [NEW] /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/samba is not executed

2011-05-11 Thread Søren Holm
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

When plugging in my network cable I'm getting an ip-address. I would

[Bug 776936] Re: Running KVM guest causes kernel panic on host

2011-05-11 Thread SergeiFranco
Today I noticed that although I removed the membaloon it didn't stick (possibly
due to panic not syncing the file).
I removed once again membaloon and started the guest with little bit better
results.
The system does not freeze immediately, but it leaves a lot of "oopses" in the
syslog/dmesg.
I am attaching these "oopses".

The highlight of the "oopses" is "BUG: unable to handle kernel paging
request at".

I am going to try kvm in NAT mode (btw how do I do that?) and see if
this is happening still.

[Bug 191251] Re: [needs-packaging] php5-embed

2011-05-11 Thread Kari Asikainen
Stumbled on this one today when a developer requested PHP::Interpreter
install to Perl to do testing if php functions can be called from Perl
and found out that to do this in Debian I have to create custom
php5-package. And for reasons that are beyond my understanding. In
programming languages (as well as in text editors etc.) you should not
limit the users choice, even if you think those choices are wrong.

[Bug 776936] Re: Running KVM guest causes kernel panic on host

2011-05-11 Thread SergeiFranco
In nat mode it does not panic.

Having virtual machine in nat mode is piss poor, especially when the
network performance in nat mode is very unreliable (perhaps issue with
MTU? apt-get install gets stuck on 0% [Waiting for headers], wget
google.com also hangs, while I can ping everything fine), another issue
is I have to port forward and deal will all associated nightmare. I am
seriously considering moving to physical box, or ditch ubuntu, install
debian and go with xen...

I need this box in bridge mode (it is a virtual server after all).

would you be able to test an svn version (just a checkout and minimum
compilation to run the driver in debug mode)?

[Bug 388483] Re: smbd panic action with yield_connection name=0x0

2011-05-11 Thread Matthew Morgan
I'm having this bug in Lucid Server x86_64. The only things I've done
in smb.conf that might be considered different are the "socket options"
line (which I've never heard anyone say causes crashes), and the few
lines that kill print support. I don't have CUPS installed on this
server and I was getting strange hangs during file transfers to windows
machines accompanied by CUPS connection timeout messages in the client
logs. Disabling printing fixed that part.

Everything is up to date except the kernel which is 2.6.32-28-server
#55-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 10 23:57:16 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux. If you
guys think updating the kernel will fix it then I will; I just hadn't
bothered to take the server down for a kernel upgrade when I didn't
think it had much to do with it.

#
# Sample configuration file for the Samba suite for Debian GNU/Linux.
#
#
# This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
# smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
# here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options most of which
# are not shown in this example
#
# Some options that are often worth tuning have been included as
# commented-out examples in this file.
# - When such options are commented with ";", the proposed setting
#differs from the default Samba behaviour
# - When commented with "#", the proposed setting is the default
#behaviour of Samba but the option is considered important
#enough to be mentioned here
#
# NOTE: Whenever you modify this file you should run the command
# "testparm" to check that you have not made any basic syntactic
# errors.
# A well-established practice is to name the original file
# "smb.conf.master" and create the "real" config file with
# testparm -s smb.conf.master >smb.conf
# This minimizes the size of the really used smb.conf file
# which, according to the Samba Team, impacts performance
# However, use this with caution if your smb.conf file contains nested
# "include" statements. See Debian bug #483187 for a case
# where using a master file is not a good idea.

2011-05-11 Thread Brice Arnould
I Think it has been fixed in autofs5.0.5 (natty) by this patch :
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/storage/autofs/autofs.git;a=commitdiff;h=6c21fce31efe5206355af2e03422708cff29d501

Could somebody test it ?

[Bug 731976] Re: SAMBA - Can't access Windows 7 computer via SAMBA

2011-05-11 Thread Michael Zverina
I actually managed to access the 'User home folder' in 64bit 7 ultimate,
using both Ubunutu 10.10 and 11.04 in x32.

The trick is to go there via nautilus/file/connectToServer/windosShare.
Add then the IP of win7 machine to field Server. Add win7user(which is set up
on 7machine) to field User. Add win7user password to password.
DO NOT FILL FIELD FOLDER.
Push connect an thats it. i see folders like admin, c, print, public, users.

But from there on it becomes strange. win7 machine grants only access to public
and win7user's HOME folder.
(win/user has admin prev.)
So you won't be able to access any drives, print, and further.
Typycally these inaccessible folders do have a $ sign at the end of their name.

Seems to me it behaves like some strange home-folder-clusterserver...

Configuration of my 64bit win7ultimate Machine
Only 1 User with admin rights
windows firewall, default settings
7x64 sp1 installed

Access via nautilus/Network is NOT - repeat - NOT possible.

feedback n questions welcome.

Re: [Bug 731976] Re: SAMBA - Can't access Windows 7 computer via SAMBA

2011-05-11 Thread André Madureira
I had a similar problem... But mine I solved by reinstalling Windows...
So, this bug might be in Windows network configuration file...
Strangely, I could access the problematic PC with my Windows without
problem... So, this configuration in Windows only affects Linux SAMBA
access to it...

In my opinion, like Bill Gates will probably do nothing to solve this
issue, Linux programmers should discover the issue and make a solution
in Linux to it (if this is possible)...

[Bug 657972] Re: Panic or segfault in Samba

2011-05-11 Thread Matthew Morgan
I'm having this error, too. Most of mine contained a backtrace nearly
identical to Edson Manners', but a few had the "executable could not be
found" message. I think this might be a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/388483

This bug is definitely still around. The upstream samba bug report
referenced in the above-mentioned possible duplicate hasn't had any
activity since the bug was submitted.

If anyone working on this bug needs any more information at all I'd be
glad to submit what I can.

Are all those 0x0 values memory addresses?

Public bug reported:

Please sync postfix 2.8.3-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
Ubuntu changes incorporated in Debian.

Changelog entries since current oneiric version 2.8.2-1ubuntu2:

postfix (2.8.3-1) unstable; urgency=low
