[Bug 810044] Re: cloud-init will have race conditions for cloud-config with multiple network adapters
@clint, I think there is an issue with the branch you've been working on when mappings are used. I've fixed my branch to use the first token of /var/run/network/ifstate rather than the second. Experimentation showed that the first field will be the physical interface and the second would be the virtual. 'auto' lines in interfaces reference virtual. That would seem to be fine, but my issue right now is that 'ifquery --list' does not show any interfaces that have had mappings done. Sadly: $ cat /etc/network/interfaces auto eth0 mapping eth0 script /usr/local/bin/print-last map AUTO xdhcp map MANUAL xmanual iface xdhcp inet dhcp iface xmanual inet static address 192.168.42.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 $ cat /usr/local/bin/print-last #!/bin/sh while read name val; do last=$val; done echo $last $ sudo ifquery --list lo Ignoring unknown interface eth0=eth0. $ sudo ifup eth0 $ cat /var/run/network/ifstate lo=lo eth0=xmanual $ sudo ifquery --list lo Ignoring unknown interface eth0=eth0. The 'Ignoring' message goes to stderr. The issue, is that with the current implementation, the 'static-network- up' would fire as soon as 'lo' was up. Because the 'ifquery --list' is not providing a complete list to stdout as expected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/810044 Title: cloud-init will have race conditions for cloud-config with multiple network adapters To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-init/+bug/810044/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 819507] [NEW] consume_userdata is only called once per instance
Public bug reported: Right now, cloud-init.py has: # parse the user data (ec2-run-userdata.py) try: cloud.sem_and_run(consume_userdata, once-per-instance, cloud.consume_userdata,[],False) except: warn(consuming user data failed!\n) raise What that means is that the consume_userdata code only happens once per instance. consume_userdata is what then walks the userdata, with callbacks for each type. The types at the moment are: 'text/x-shellscript' : self.handle_user_script, 'text/cloud-config' : self.handle_cloud_config, 'text/upstart-job' : self.handle_upstart_job, 'text/part-handler' : self.handle_handler, 'text/cloud-boothook' : self.handle_cloud_boothook if the user-data changes, these will not be called again unless 'consume_userdata' lock has also been removed. That means that * changes to cloud-config dont get realized (old cloud-config would be used) * upstart jobs are not re-written * handlers are not updated * handlers will not be called more than once per instance * boothooks are not called more than once (they are documented that they are) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: cloud-init 0.6.1-0ubuntu12 ProcVersionSignature: User Name 3.0.0-7.8-virtual 3.0.0 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-7-virtual x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon Aug 1 20:29:57 2011 Ec2AMI: ami-318e4858 Ec2AMIManifest: (unknown) Ec2AvailabilityZone: us-east-1b Ec2InstanceType: t1.micro Ec2Kernel: aki-825ea7eb Ec2Ramdisk: unavailable PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: cloud-init UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug ec2-images oneiric -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/819507 Title: consume_userdata is only called once per instance To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/819507/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 580319] Re: dhcp3-server and other init.d controled services launch before upstart brings all interface, thus failing to start
So, there is some progress on this bug. A new event called 'static- network-up' was added to oneiric today, which will only be emitted once all 'auto' interfaces from /etc/network/interfaces are up. The next step is to delay /etc/init/rc-sysinit.conf until this event is emitted, and then also provide some kind of fail-safe for this event to be emitted when some of the interfaces cannot be brought up. ** Changed in: upstart (Ubuntu) Assignee: James Hunt (jamesodhunt) = Clint Byrum (clint-fewbar) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dhcp3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/580319 Title: init.d controlled services launch before all interfaces are up, thus failing to start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dhcp3/+bug/580319/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 350936] Re: Should shut down domains on system shutdown
Hello Guys, I wanned to share my workarroud on this issue, Im using debian squeeze as OS for a couple of virtualization hosts, each one of them holding a number of vm's. What I need is that when shuting down my virtualization host (from cli, by cron, by ups low batt or by pressing the power button (ACPI)), the host hast to shutdown each vm before going down. I used one of the scripts from earlier posts: 1.- I copied it to /usr/local/bin 2.- Changed ownership (chown root:root /usr/local/bin/libvirt-shutdown-domains) 3.- Chandeg permitions (chmod 775 /usr/local/bin/libvirt-shutdown-domains) 4.- Edited /etc/init.d/libvirt-bin, adding a reference to this file as the secound line in the stop section of the init file Before actually executing the libvirt-bin stop logic, it calls the first script witch shutdown each vm's, when that script ends (after every vm is gracefully halted), the libvirt-bin init script continues. ** Attachment added: libvirt-shutdown-domains https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/350936/+attachment/2248329/+files/libvirt-shutdown-domains -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to kvm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350936 Title: Should shut down domains on system shutdown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kvm/+bug/350936/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
