[Bug 847744] [NEW] Panic or segfault in Samba
Public bug reported: I receive time by time on the my sysadmin's mail these messages: The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action, was called for PID 947 (/usr/sbin/winbindd). This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault. Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which shows the state of the program at the time the error occurred. The Samba log files may contain additional information about the problem. [Bug 570944] Re: passwd : gives Authentication token manipulation error
Here is my solution: 1) copy winbind winbind-noauthtok unix-noauthtok files from attachments to /usr/share/pam-configs/ (with overwrite) 2) copy pam_winbind.conf from attachment to /etc/security/ 3) run pam-auth-update and check Unix authentication (no use_authtok) Winbind NT/Active Directory authentication (no use_authtok), also uncheck Unix authentication Winbind NT/Active Directory authentication 4) use it What it is: 1) new configs. 1. winbind - is the same as default winbind (you need to overwrite it) but: a) without krb5_*, cached_login options, I think these should be placed in special config file /etc/security/pam_winbind.conf - this is much more customizable way to configure pam_winbind without any involving of pam-auth-update. Also this solves bug about not getting krb ticket and ccache when changing expired password on login (pam_winbind passwd section should contain krb5_* options too, but it doesn't) b) increased Priority, it's to solve buggy changing expired password on login. Winbind should be before unix (like pam_krb5 does) 2. winbind-noauthtok, unix-noauthtok - is the same as winbind and unix, but without use_authtok option. These configs conflicts with winbind, unix and cracklib, so you can't install winbind-noauthtok with winbind or cracklib 2) see 1-1-a 3) just changing configs in /etc/pam.d/ the right way 4) this solution has the next advantages: 1. customizable - you may choose: use cracklib or not, pam-auth-update suggests different ways 2. solves some existing bugs: allows you to change unix, wb password via passwd command (or any other graphical tools); allows to change expired unix, wb password on login; gets krb ticket and ccache after wb expired password has been changed; maybe some others... To packages supporters: Why not to implement this in all pam modules packages (add unix, unix-noauthtok in libpam-runtime for example), while thinking about upgrading whole pam system? It would be really nice to add function of detecting if use use_authtok or not to pam-auth-update (just read configs of higher priority modules). Some offtopic (to pam-auth-update supporters): Even if I use pam_winbind.conf option mkhomedir = yes it doesn't copy skel directory to new user home. So I'm forced to use pam_mkhomedir. But if I create config for it in /usr/share/pam-configs, it adds lines about making home derictories to /etc/pam.d/common-session-noninteractive too, and this is really BAD behavior. So the right way is to implement Session-noninteractive: section in config files, I think. Thanks for attantion. ** Attachment added: winbind https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/570944/+attachment/2391119/+files/winbind -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570944 Title: passwd : gives Authentication token manipulation error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/570944/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 801002] Re: Provide a default network and configurationss
Quoting Robert Collins (801...@bugs.launchpad.net): forwarding is definitely not equivalent. Consider offline (train/plane/park) usage and wifi usage (two separate cases). In the former there is no default route to forward too. In the second case you have to do iptables SNAT to avoid firmware limits on forwarded MAC addresses. I've had no troubles with the forwarded bridge with wireless NIC. Still it might be worth discussing this at UDS. Stéphane Graber offers a default network in arkose which he had mentioned offering as example/demo in lxc. At the last UDS Orlando, it was decided that (for then) we did not want lxc to get mired down in such details, and we should indeed use libvirt. Stéphane, do you object to depending on libvirt and installing a default /etc/lxc.conf using virbr0 for O? Would you prefer to follow the route Arkose uses as you'd mentioned at the sprint? Or should we just do nothing for O? In any case we can discuss at UDS and change course for P. -serge -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/801002 Title: Provide a default network and configurations To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/801002/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

In any case we can discuss at UDS and change course for P. -serge I think it's a bit late for O as doing that dependency change will effectively bring libvirt-bin on all Edubuntu systems (as arkose and LXC are part of our default see). I indeed think it'd be great having LXC up and running immediately when installed but don't think depending on libvirt is the right way of doing it, especially as libvirt ships its own lxc and that would likely confuse a lot of users. So I'd prefer we don't do anything for O expect maybe shipping a script in /usr/share/doc/lxc to setup a bridge (you can look at the one from my lxc-demo.sh script). For P we can rediscuss the situation at UDS but I'd much rather have the LXC init script initialize a bridge and setup iptables (assuming that feature is enabled in /etc/lxc.conf) than depend on libvirt for doing it. -- Stéphane Graber Ubuntu developer http://www.ubuntu.com -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/801002 Title: Provide a default network and configurations To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/801002/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Attached is a patch that rectifies this by not setting $have_recips_blocked = 1; when there are no addresses in X-Envelope- To-Blocked:. ** Affects: amavisd-new (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amavisd-release patch release -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to amavisd-new in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/848055 Title: amavisd-release not working when message contains empty X-Envelope-To- Blocked To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/amavisd-new/+bug/848055/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 737027] Re: kpartx udev rule is broken
Yes, I am also wondering whether or not this will be resolved for 11.10. I can upload the patch, but I first need to know the switch to tell dmraid not to create the partitions that Phillip mentioned in comment #9. I could not find such a switch in the dmraid man file. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to multipath-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/737027 Title: kpartx udev rule is broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dmraid/+bug/737027/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 848055] amavisd-release not working when message contains empty X-Envelope-To-Blocked
Hi All! I discovered a bug that prevents amavisd-release from working on messages that have an empty X-Envelope-To-Blocked line in the headers. To avoid duplication I posted details and a patch at https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/848055, would you kindly review it and apply as appropriate? [Bug 737027] Re: kpartx udev rule is broken
While there is no explanation, the man page for dmraid has this: dmraid {-a|--activate} {y|n|yes|no} [-d|--debug]... [-v|--verbose]... [-i|--ignorelocking] [-f|--format FORMAT[,FORMAT...]] [{-P|--partchar} CHAR] [-p|--no_partitions] [--separator SEPARATOR] [-t|--test] [RAID-set...] I think you would want to use -p or --no_partitions.
[Bug 828789] Re: [FFE] please enable spice support
Since spice is in universe, we can't have qemu-kvm depend on it. [Bug 801501] Re: [MIR] nova
Quick notes: * should use /run instead of /var/run * while it's nice to have the sudoers split, the sudoers fragment is wildly permissive (chown as root is trivial to exploit). I would recommend specific helper scripts that validate the logic of the requested dangerous commands (see the similar stuff in euca). This is a rather large chunk of python daemons. I think a much more complete security audit should be done, but that's not something I have time for at the moment. On the up side, the code looks generally well designed, though not really made to resist malicious admin use. Given the scope of its intended use, I think it would be wise to keep this out of main until it can really be more heavily audited. Trying to map the dispatch actions to the possible code paths would probably take some effort, and I'm worried that some of the web objects might have unexpected exposed functions. Though perhaps I'm just not familiar enough with the WSGI code. ** Changed in: nova (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Security Team (ubuntu-security) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/801501 Title: [MIR] nova To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nova/+bug/801501/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
