[Bug 857759] Re: package libaio-dev (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/include/libaio.h', which is also in package libaio 0.3.104-1

2011-09-23 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi coss_cat, thanks for taking the time to file a bug report and help us
make Ubuntu better.

I think you may have some erroneous packages from some other source on
your system, as that version of libaio isn't in any supported release of
Ubuntu. This snippet shows the very old version:

Unpacking libaio-dev (from .../libaio-dev_0.3.107-7ubuntu2_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/libaio-dev_0.3.107-7ubuntu2_i386.deb (--unpack):
 trying to overwrite '/usr/include/libaio.h', which is also in package libaio
0.3.104-1

That release of libaio, 0.3.104-1, was superseded in July of 2005.

You should be able to correct the problem by removing that package (apt-
get remove libaio).

Closing bug as Invalid.

Hello Thomas, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and

Your VarLogDistupgradeScreenlog0.gz seems to suggest that the problem is
with bind9. Have you by any chance removed /etc/init.d/bind9 ?

Here is the relevant portion of the log file snippet:

[Bug 857294] Re: Creating hotspot leads to endless connect/disconnect loop

2011-09-23 Thread Clint Byrum
tankdriver, I think the address in use error may be a red herring, as
thats what happens if you rapidly shutdown and start back up a listening
socket without using the SO_REUSEADDR socket option. dnsmasq is
basically saying that it can't listen because there may be existing
half-closed sockets on the port it wants to listen on.

That said, it needs to be investigated in both network manager and
dnsmasq, so marking as Medium importance in both.

[Bug 737027] Re: kpartx udev rule is broken

2011-09-23 Thread Jesse Johnson
Ok, so to fix this problem follow these steps (assuming you are using
Ubuntu 11.04):

1. Modify this line in /lib/udev/rules.d/95-kpartx.rules

   ENV{DM_STATE}=="ACTIVE", ENV{DM_UUID}=="dmraid-*", \
RUN+="/sbin/kpartx -p -part -a /dev/$kernel"

by changing "dmraid-*" to "DMRAID-*" and remove the '-p -part'
switch so that you get

   ENV{DM_STATE}=="ACTIVE", ENV{DM_UUID}=="DMRAID-*", \
RUN+="/sbin/kpartx -a /dev/$kernel"

   As mentioned in the bug report, the switch to uppercase is required
since id's for dmraid mapped devices follow that convention. The
removal of the -p switch is meant to allow kpartx use its default
partition map naming scheme rather than a distro specific one. Not sure
if Debian ever changed this.

2. Modify this line in the script /sbin/dmraid-activate

   dmraid -i -ay -Z "$1"

by inserting the -p switch as suggested John in comment #14 so you
obtain

   dmraid -i -ay -p -Z "$1"

Now dmraid will not map partitions, leaving that job to kpartx when
it is called in its respective udev rule.

3. Done!

I am not sure how to convert my changes into an uploadable patch via
Launchpad. Could someone please direct me to a tutorial or give a brief
example?

It would be nice if kpartx was integrated into dmraid itself or else at
least replace the partition mapping portion of dmraid with calls to
kpartx and bundle the two together (as suggested in the dmraid TODO
file). I assume such changes must be made upstream. If so, where should
I go to make / suggest the changes?

I need to run some tests to verify that this is no longer a problem in
euca2ools 2.0. I'll do that over the weekend and report back on Monday.

  == The road to main for ensemble ==

  1. When do we want that to happen?

  - 11.10 Ensemble in Universe, problem, ensemble is rapidly developing
  how to deal with updates.

  Ensemble can't be "frozen" past a stable release. We need to deploy new
  features for the project to be successful.

  Two possible approaches:

  - Use a PPA (simpler, works well)
  - Do SRUs every month or so (much more heavy weight, apparently unnecessary)

  We'll probably be going with the second option.

  2. What do we need to get done for this to happen?

  Needed dependencies:

  - txzookeeper (not packaged yet)
  - txaws (must be upgraded)
  - zookeeper (needs patches which were already pushed upstream)

  3. Strategies for upgrading?

  4. Etc.

  Sample interaction with Ensemble:

  $ ensemble bootstrap
  # Creates some files in ~/.ensemble/
  $ ensemble bootstrap
  # Creates the first instance of Ensemble on EC2
  $ ensemble deploy wordpress
  $ ensemble deploy mysql
  $ ensemble add-relation wordpress mysql

  This requires AWS credentials in the environment.

  The mysql instance can be reused across services.

  Tasks
  ---

   - [niemeyer] Ensemble Daily PPA.

  Questions

   - Zookeeper Packages
   - python zookeeper
   - txaws package updates
   - ensemble package
   - principia package?

[Bug 832507] Re: console.log grows indefinitely

2011-09-23 Thread Robie Basak
What I have so far: everything except point 6 in the plan above.

Problems:

1) libvirt creates an AppArmor profile for console.fifo and not
console.fifo.{in,out}.

Other things to check:

1) Console logging gets resumed correctly on restart.
2) Correct management of live migration.
3) Correct management of rescue mode.

Patch-in-progress attached, along with AppArmor details to get the
dynamic profile fixed. I can't see how to attach multiple files so I
hope a tarball is OK.

[Bug 857380] [NEW] stack trace if 'local-hostname' is not in meta-data

2011-09-23 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

This is most likely an issue for OVF or cmdline seeding of the 'nocloud'
data source, as openstack, eucalyptus and ec2 will have 'local-hostname'
in the metadata and will not hit this.

However, it basically prevents this from functioning for OVF or cmdline
seeding.

[Bug 857378] [NEW] make a DataSource supporting simple local media (configdrive, simple iso)

2011-09-23 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

This came up when talking with Soren on IRC.
We can now attach a OVF CDrom and seed cloud-init that way, but it would be
nice to be able to do the same with a more friendly disk format.

Ie, if there were a disk (cdrom or disk) that had:
 * LABEL=cloudinit
 * user-data
 * meta-data

Or something like that. That would it trivial to attach a local disk
and boot the images in "NoCloud".

Something in this general vicinity is 'configdrive' from openstack/nova.

It would be good to support configdrive right out of the box.

[Bug 852479] Re: Merge asterisk 1:1.8.4.4~dfsg-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-09-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package asterisk - 1:1.8.4.4~dfsg-2ubuntu1

---
asterisk (1:1.8.4.4~dfsg-2ubuntu1) oneiric; urgency=low

  * Merge from debian unstable (LP: #852479). Remaining changes:
- debian/control: Build-depend on hardening-wrapper
- debian/rules: Make use of hardening-wrapper
- debian/asterisk.init: chown /dev/dahdi
- debian/backports/hardy: add file
- debian/backports/asterisk.init.hardy: add file
  * Changes dropped from Ubuntu delta as no longer applicable:
- debian/control:
  + Removed Uploaders field
  + Removed Debian Vcs-Svn entry and replaced with ubuntu-voip Vcs-Bzr,
to reflect divergence in packages.

asterisk (1:1.8.4.4~dfsg-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Don't mark en-gsm sound files as enabled, so they won't be
downloaded.

asterisk (1:1.8.4.4~dfsg-1) unstable; urgency=high

  * AST-2011-011 (CVE-2011-2536): Don't leak SIP username information
(closes: #632029)
  * Clearly the NC-ND license for AST.{pdf,txt} is here to stay. Strip it.
- And while we're at at, strip out sound files and some generated files.

asterisk (1:1.8.4.3-1) unstable; urgency=high

  * New upstream point release, fixes 3 remotely-explitables (of sort) bugs:
- AST-2011-008, CVE-2011-2529 (Closes: #631446)
- AST-2011-009 (Closes: #631445)
- AST-2011-010, CVE-2011-2535 (Closes: #631448)

asterisk (1:1.8.4.2-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream point release:
- Fixes CVE-2011-2216 - AST-2011-007 (Closes: #629130).
  * Patch gcc46: Fix the induced regression.
  * Blacklist SRTP support on Sparc and hurd-i386 until SRTP available there.

asterisk (1:1.8.4-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
- Patch no_ssl2 removed: merged upstream.
  * Remove unneeded dependency on voicemail modules - only leave Recommends
(Closes: #624190).
  * Patch refix_bashism: bashism crept bact into the configure script
(Jilles Tjoelker).
  * Fixes for kFreeBSD (Closes: #624569):
- Declare build-deps linux-any: libtonezone-dev, libvpb-dev,
  libbluetooth-dev, libopenh323-dev, libcap[2]-dev, libstrp0-dev.
- Thus sub-packages asterisk-dahdi, asterisk-h323 and asterisk-mobile
  are linux-any.
- And logic added to rules file not to copy their files on non-linux.
- Patch kfreebsd: Fix building with kFreeBSD.
- Patch no_uname: Fix building with kFreeBSD: an uglier patch.
  * Patch gcc46: Some gcc-4.6 fixes from upstream. Get rid of some
build warnings.

2011-09-23 Thread Dave Walker
The merge is too large to give an accurate review, but sniff testing
looks good; and balancing Security, High and Medium bugs it resolves
makes it a good candidate.

Uploading.

Thanks.

[Bug 857175] [NEW] i2c-i801 kernel module needlessly blacklisted

2011-09-23 Thread Peter Firefly Brodersen Lund
Public bug reported:

I recently got an old but still very nice Thinkpad T41 with 1.5GB RAM.

'decode-dimms' can't see the DRAM EEPROMs without the i2c-i801 kernel
module. That module doesn't load automatically because it is
blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf. When I load it manually
with 'modprobe i2c-i801', everything works. (I apparently have a 512MB
Samsung and a 1024MB Kingston, both PC2700.)

My Thinkpad T41 is not the only laptop to be hit by that blacklist (Fujitsu
Esprimo Mobile U9200):
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.i2c/9120

It seems to have been blacklisted because of a suspend issue on an HP Compaq
NC6000 (Ubuntu bug #10306).
(For some reason that bug seems to be about apt?! I have tried to find the
original bug in Launchpad but I couldn't.)

I can confirm that suspend/resume works just as well with i2c-i801 loaded as
without it, i.e. perfectly.
I can also confirm that hibernate/resume doesn't work without i2c-i801 loaded.
I haven't tested /with/ the module but I don't expect it to magically work
/with/ the module when it doesn't /without/.

---

I used 'ubuntu-bug linux' to gather information about my system in case
you need it.

Also, I don't know if the bug should be assigned to 'lm-sensors' or
'linux' or maybe some other package: it affects the lm-sensors package
but it has to be fixed in the 'module-init-tools' package and the
i2c-i801.ko module is in 'linux-image-'.
