[Bug 874981] Re: Please merge/sync mcollective from debian wheezy
Hi Marc, Thanks for the debdiff. Great work. I did have a couple of comments. I'm not sure I agree that the debian/control diff of the Description fields is ideal, is this required? For example: -Description: Marionette Collective clustering framework - server +Description: build server orchestration or parallel job execution systems debian/changelog: Could do with a more descriptive entry, it doesn't really describe what has changed or been dropped. debian/mcollective-middleware.postinst: Calls the service command directly, it's going to be safer to do - service activemq stop - service activemq start + invoke-rc.d activemq stop || : + invoke-rc.d activemq start Thanks! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mcollective in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874981 Title: Please merge/sync mcollective from debian wheezy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mcollective/+bug/874981/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 888552] [NEW] cyrus-sasl2 denies authentication if host name unresolvable
Public bug reported: This just cost me about 5 hours of debugging. cyrus-sasl2 does not authenticate against a server if the hostname is not dns-resolvable. After upgrading to oneirc, I wondered, why the mail client mutt could access an imap server on three on my systems, but not on the fourth machine. It did not even try to authenticate after the imap server's greeting message and aborted with Error allocating SASL connection , although the configuration files were identical. After hours of debugging and analyzing with strace, tcpdump and source code I found that the reason was that the machine where it did not work was not known to my DNS name server. A query to it's (plain) hostname therefore failed. After modifying DNS to give an answer, SASL worked. Before, sasl_client_new() just gave a -1 as a result code. This is broken by design. I did not even work if the server was at 127.0.0.1, and the machine and the authentication should really work even without DNS resolving. [Bug 614322] Re: libvirt not recognizing NUMA architecture
Hi, noone seems to have commented on the reason why numa is disabled in libvirt. In Ubuntu, both libnuma1 and numactl are in universe. So in order toenable those in libvirt (which is in main), we would have to do a main inclusion request (MIR) for those. But, they are also disabled in debian. It seems worth opening a bug against the debian package to inquire as to why it is disabled there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/614322 Title: libvirt not recognizing NUMA architecture To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/614322/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 614322] Re: libvirt not recognizing NUMA architecture
Regarding the change from Opinion to Confirmed, ordinarily I'd object, but in this case I agree - this *is* a bug, whose resolution potentially depends on some other bugs. I don't object to numa being enabled if the underlying bugs get fixed, so if you have time, by all means please do work on this bug, preferably through upstream and debian. It's not an opinion. Thanks, Ralf. Note that in the last year and a half, the underlying bugs may have even been fixed upstream, so whoever looks into this, I suggest finding a test case (it's not in the changelog) and re-testing.

Re: [Bug 888662] Re: Web browsers should share the cache
Hi Fred, Fred wrote: Oh sorry, I just thought it was a really good idea. It actually is a good _idea_, just not a very realistic one. :-( Even all the Mozilla based browsers aren't sharing their caches despite the file format is the same. And it seems as if this wanted by Mozilla for some reason. Because I thought it was so dumb that all web browsers use cache and they all fetch the same stuff, but store it in different places. You basically just asked at the wrong place: No Linux distribution has the power to convince all the browser makers, especially Mozilla and Google (who both care a shit about distributions IMHO), to do such a thing. And it's the browser makers where this should start. Maybe the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) is a better place to dump/plant this wish/idea. [Bug 884908] Re: Package dependencies need work
Update to mcollective-1.2.1-0ubuntu3 that solves the dependency issues ** Patch added: mcollective_1.2.1-0ubuntu3.debdiff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mcollective/+bug/884908/+attachment/2592650/+files/mcollective_1.2.1-0ubuntu3.debdiff ** Description changed: This is actually a bug report for mcollective, mcollective-middleware and mcollective-client. The package dependencies need to be looked at because as they stand now on Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric, they are not correct. What I have discovered so far is: mcollective-middleware need to depend on mcollective, otherwise the directory /etc/mcollective is not created. At least mcollective-client needs to depends on 'rubygems'. Without it you receive the following: - $ mc-find-hosts + $ mc-find-hosts /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/mcollective.rb:1:in `require': no such file to load -- rubygems (LoadError) - from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/mcollective.rb:1 - from /usr/sbin/mc-find-hosts:3:in `require' - from /usr/sbin/mc-find-hosts:3 + from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/mcollective.rb:1 + from /usr/sbin/mc-find-hosts:3:in `require' + from /usr/sbin/mc-find-hosts:3 I believe mcollective-middleware also needs to depend on rubygems, because the above error was replaced with silence after installing rubygems. Once I restarted the mcollective service, silence was replaced with the correct functionality. Please let me know if you need more information. Peter + + SRU Justification (Marc Cluet) --- + + TEST CASE: + 1. Install mcollective-middleware, it won't install mcollective + 2. Install mcollective-clients, some of the plugins will fail due to the lack of rubygems, libsystemu-ruby or ruby-json + + Regression potential: + It's just adding dependencies, regression potential almost 0. + + Course of action for oneiric: + Add the missing dependencies. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mcollective in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/884908 Title: Package dependencies need work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mcollective/+bug/884908/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

The attachment mcollective_1.2.1-0ubuntu3.debdiff of this bug report has been identified as being a patch in the form of a debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event that this is in fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by removing the tag 'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment so that it is not flagged as a patch. Additionally, if you are member of the ubuntu- sponsors please also unsubscribe the team from this bug report. [This is an automated message performed by a Launchpad user owned by Brian Murray.
