[Bug 869364] Re: cgconfig gets confused with /cgroups fstab entry

2011-12-16 Thread Serge Hallyn
The analogous bug was fixed for cgroup-lite by having its upstart job
(through cgroup-lite.cgroups-mount) fail to run, and log to syslog, if a
cgroup entry is in fstab.

cgroup-bin.cgconfig.upstart should do the same.

Tested the Python "test case" from the bug description using the
initscripts in Oneiric proposed. Prior to patch, did see "Killing all
remaining processes... fail" as described. After patch, saw "All
processes ended within 16 seconds". According to the test case, this
is a successful fix.

[Bug 903993] Re: Don't hang waiting for input from commands

2011-12-16 Thread Clint Byrum
This makes sense to me. Its simpler even than you suggest. I see no good
reason that cloud-init ever should read from stdin, so it should
probably just re-open stdin as /dev/null. Any program that hangs waiting
for input from a non tty like /dev/null is doing things wrong, or is
being invoked incorrectly.

I don't see this as High though, as it can be worked around by not
running programs that wait for input from stdin. Dropping to Medium, and
forwarding to cloud-init upstream project.

[Bug 905419] Re: cloud-init messages going to syslog, not cloud-init.log

2011-12-16 Thread Scott Moser
It seems this is possibly rsyslog or python logging related, because cloud-init
did not change between oneiric and precise,. In oneiric, it works:
Dec 16 17:36:04 server-3395 [CLOUDINIT] __init__.py[DEBUG]: handling
final-message with freq=None and args=[]
Dec 16 21:11:30 server-3395 [CLOUDINIT] cloud-init-cfg[INFO]: cloud-init-cfg
['apt-update-upgrade', 'always']
Dec 16 21:11:30 server-3395 [CLOUDINIT] __init__.py[DEBUG]: handling
apt-update-upgrade with freq=always and args=[]

That final message in /var/log/cloud-init.log was generated when I just now (4
hours after booting) ran:
sudo cloud-init-cfg apt-update-upgrade always

What is strange, as per your next mail, is that "ls /dev/usb" shows
"hiddev1"!
Can you please forward us an excerpt of your system log, using the "usb"
pattern.

[Bug 904248] Re: python-central build-dependencies in main

2011-12-16 Thread Andreas Hasenack
So, using this in build-depends apparently doesn't work:
(...), python-dev (>= 2.6.6-3~) | python-central | python-support, python-dev,
(...)

I got a natty build instance that pulled in both python-dev 2.7.x and
python-central. I thought it would pull in only the first one that
satisfied the dependency?

[Bug 905419] [NEW] cloud-init messages going to syslog, not cloud-init.log

2011-12-16 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

on boot of a precise image, I did not see messages in /var/log/cloud-
init.log as expected.

I noticed that some of them are in /var/log/syslog:
Dec 16 16:41:30 server-3393 d-init-cfg[INFO]: cloud-init-cfg ['all', 'config']
Dec 16 16:41:30 server-3393 it__.py[DEBUG]: handling mounts with freq=None and

Dec 16 16:41:30 server-3393 sh_import_id.py[DEBUG]: importing ssh ids. cmd =

I'm not sure where the beginning of those log statements are going.

My lxc is working again (the solution was to clear out the lxc cache).

Unfortunately, it still does not work for me with a fresh lxc--running a
lucid container inside an oneiric host. Perhaps the SRU was for running
an oneiric container?

Symptoms: as before, during an update, I get this:

Setting up udev (151-12.3) ...
mknod: `/lib/udev/devices/ppp': Operation not permitted

Simply running mknod I get this:

$ sudo mknod /tmp/ppp c 108 0
mknod: `/tmp/ppp': Operation not permitted

Again, my workaround is this: at the bottom of
"/var/lib/lxc/server/config" add this snippet:

# Mods to allow udev upgrade
lxc.cgroup.devices.allow = c 108:0 rwm
lxc.cgroup.devices.allow = b 7:0 rwm
lxc.cgroup.devices.allow = c 10:200 rwm

[Bug 905313] Re: Fails to recognise Android or iP* devices

2011-12-16 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

If upstream has stagnated and there is a different source which has
continued development, it sounds like it might be an idea to switch. But
this would be better coming from Debian so that the delta to Ubuntu can
stay manageable, particularly since this package is in universe.

Thus I'm marking the Ubuntu task as Importance: Wishlist. To take this
further, you could file a bug against analog in Debian, and if fixed
there it will filter through in the next merge.

Alternatively, if you can provide a small patch for the particular
functionality you need, then Ubuntu might be able to carry that patch,
given that it is already carrying the Vista+7 detection patch (but note
that I can't make that decision).

also low on disk space and some other

2011-12-16 Thread scido
Hi,
I was too impatient... Mounting with mount command get the same error: empty
directory. I think it's something related to "nounix" option. So, it's not
related to autofs package, but to CIFS and samba server.
 Please let me know if you need more information.
