[Bug 875440] Re: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql

2012-01-01 Thread Bobonov
The fix is upgrading to the latest release of sasl which is not part of 11.10.
Actually no one is in charge of the bug because of low "heat" status which is
automatically calculated
https://bugs.launchpad.net/+help-bugs/bug-heat.html
Probably it will be fixed at next ubuntu release

[Bug 910563] [NEW] munin amavis: Malformed configuration line in munin amavis file

2012-01-01 Thread Hannes Roest
Public bug reported:

The munin amavis script produces errors which will be sent in an email
to root every time the cron job is executed. This is mostly annoying
since it leads to a graph that is not/wrongly labeled but the emails
every 5min to root are annoying.

This problem has been reported and fixed in debian and upstream:

 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=574172
http://munin-monitoring.org/changeset/3441

However it is not fixed in ubuntu LTS 10.04

[Bug 910566] [NEW] munin does not depend on libcache-cache-perl

2012-01-01 Thread Hannes Roest
Public bug reported:

munin does not depend on libcache-cache-perl even though it maybe should
for the mysql plugins that are delivered (but not installed) by default.
This surprises the user in an unpleasant way and the error message is
also not immediately helpful. Thus either adding libcache-cache-perl to
the dependencies or having a more intuitive way of explaining errors
might be helpful.

[Bug 907816] Re: libapache2-mod-php5 forgets timezone definition after some time

2012-01-01 Thread Arie Skliarouk
I am sorry, the problem was on my side. We have both python-django and
php sites running on the same server. The django-based site was
misconfigured to reset server's timezone to "America/Chicago".
Apparently if the timezone is specified programmatically by a php or
python script, it is automatically visible to all the other scripts
(which IMHO is wrong).

Thus, a random visit to the timzeone-insensitive django-based site would
automatically reset the server's timezone and thus break the php site
(which *is* sensitive to the timezone value).

Close the bug please.

[Bug 875440] Re: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql

2012-01-01 Thread Eric Munson
That isn't a solution. I realize that we are not paying for support,
but this sort of statement doesn't encourage me to suggest that route to
anyone. If the fix truly is to update to the newer version why can this
not be done in Onieric?

To anyone that this bug is affecting, make sure to click "This affects
me" at the top to up the bug heat, that seems to be the only way to get
Canonical to fix something they broke.

2012-01-01 Thread Otlay Interactive
I totally agree with you, this is kind of ridiculous. Waiting til the
next version?? I can't wait until April for it to be taken care of. As
a long, long time user of Debian, and a strong advocate for the use of
Ubuntu to anyone with technical savvy enough to handle Linux, I'm pretty
appalled at the seriousness of this problem and how much of an issue
this has been. Anyone running a mail server on Ubuntu with
authentication (and if you're not, you're dumb) is likely to encounter
this. This has seriously made me reconsider if there is a better
distribution I should be using, one that won't significantly damage my
system when I upgrade. EVERY WEEK this re-breaks on my system and I
have to manually fix it. I only know it's down when I wake up to an
inbox of cron errors or an angry phone call from a client. All of the
packages have been set on hold in aptitude, yet every week it seems to
screw itself up again without any help on my part. This SERIOUSLY has
to get taken care of ASAP

Re: [Bug 875440] Re: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql

2012-01-01 Thread JBAT
I have my Ubuntu server setup with Webmin. (It is a web interface to
manage a server) in that, I have it set to notify me of updates, but not
to do any updating. After I did the manual downgrade of saslauthd, weeks
ago, I have not had a problem of it auto updating everyweek. I just go
in with Webmin, select everyting but sasl*, and install patches. No
problems with it breaking each week, but it is a pain to have to manualy
monitor it so it doesn't get the current (but messed up) sasl.

[Bug 910668] [NEW] RTL8192 driver hangs system

2012-01-01 Thread Steve B
Public bug reported:

My home network uses WPA and this connects and reports no problems in
this respect however I can only load web pages etc for the first few
seconds after the connection is made. My train operator offers free wifi
and this has no encryption yet when I connect to this - within a minute
the whole system freezes - no mouse movement etc and only a forced power
off will recover it.

Is there an alternate driver or firmware package I need ?

[Bug 877894] Re: fuser forks and never reaps its children

2012-01-01 Thread Simon Hirscher
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 876387 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876387

I can confirm the bug on Ubuntu 11.10 with php5-fpm.
Found this Debian bug via Google:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=633100 . Maybe it provides
anybody with more information on how to hunt this bug down.

Found this older Debian bug via Google:
