[Bug 711534] Re: euca-upload-bundle fails when connecting to Eucalyptus and a path in bucket is specified

2012-04-13 Thread graziano obertelli
after a chat on #eucalyptus-devel, this is not present (the mis-handling
of /) in eucal3 (marking invalid for -devel). It is targeted for 2.0.4,
but the IRC chat seems to imply that more work may be needed to
understand the right behavior here.

[Bug 974584] Re: Semaphores cannot be created in lxc container

2012-04-13 Thread Serge Hallyn
Sorry, the workaround I listed above was for precise, and actually was
incomplete (you also need to ln -s /run/shm $rootfs/dev/shm).

For older releases, the /run transition was not done, so /dev/shm is
supposed to be mounted by mountall through /lib/init/fstab. So the
workaround is to add a dev/shm entry to /var/lib/lxc//fstab,
or to add it to /var/lib/lxc//rootfs/lib/init/fstab.lxc.

I had the same problem today while updating 12.04.

I had to purge the packages samba + samba-common and re-install them in

This is not optimal since you have to reconfigure all your your samba

[Bug 933723] Re: bind9 registering itself with resolvconf but not set up to forward queries

2012-04-13 Thread Saivann Carignan
OK definitively not fixed, RESOLVCONF=yes is added into
/etc/default/bind9 when the file is created for the first time by the
installation of bind9.. Which is exactly what this fix should have
prevented.

I can't go with a complete patch suggestion due to my restricted
knowledge in packaging, but the problem seems to belongs to line 87 to
92 of bind9.postinst in the source package :

db_get bind9/run-resolvconf
if [ ! -z "$RET" ] && [ "$RET" = "true" ]; then
   echo "RESOLVCONF=yes" >> $config
else
   echo "RESOLVCONF=no" >> $config
fi

I don't know what $RET refers to, perhaps it interacts with
bind9.config?

Well, i can't explain it but after i installed bridge-utils 1.5-2ubuntu1
and rebooted it worked fine for a while. The next day I turned the
computer back on and i could not get it to work again. SO, there is
still something else going on with it. I was so hoping it was fixed as
well without it I can't even more forward with installing and setting up
Xen.

So far this has been a major hurdle and really annoying to say the
least.

YA, i know it is not advised to install anything manual, BUT this is a
testing server setup SO i really don't care about any security or
anything. I just want bridge-utils to work SO i don't have to continue
to waste hours trying to find a way to make it work :). If i happen
to find a solution THAN, YA of course i would go back to do things the
proper way, but for now, it is just simply frustrating that you can't
continue cause of some bug.

In Debian there is NO such issue at all, and it and UBUNTU are so very
similar that well never figured one gets stopped in your tracks so
easily with Ubuntu

Just out of shear trying something, i also installed bridge-utils
1.5-2ubuntu6, BUT still can't get it to work.

[Bug 933723] Re: bind9 registering itself with resolvconf but not set up to forward queries

2012-04-13 Thread Saivann Carignan
OK, here is what happens :

RESOLVCONF=yes must be changed to RESOLVCONF=no in /etc/default/bind9 by
the user. The bind9 update won't change this default setting if it is
already set.

Therefore it might be important to make sure that this default setting
will be included in the final release. Because the update won't update
the default configuration.

Further testing shows that "nova list" commands respect --region

the bug description to reflect this.

[Bug 980940] [NEW] euca2ools does not respect the --region option correctly

2012-04-13 Thread Andrew Glen-Young
Public bug reported:

The euc2ools commands do not support the --region flag for anything
other than EC2. I would like to define multiple regions and use these
commands against Eucalyptus and Openstack clouds (among others).

Currently the endpoint URL is hardcoded (see the function below).

/usr/lib/pyshared/euca2ools/commands/eucacommand.py:

def get_endpoint_url(self, region_name):
"""
Get the URL needed to reach a region with a given name.

This currently only works with EC2. In the future it may use other
means to also work with Eucalyptus.
"""
endpoint_template = 'https://ec2.%s.amazonaws.com/'
endpoint_url  = endpoint_template % region_name
endpoint_dnsname  = urlparse.urlparse(endpoint_url).hostname
try:
socket.getaddrinfo(endpoint_dnsname, None)
except socket.gaierror:
raise KeyError('Cannot resolve endpoint %s' % endpoint_dnsname)
return endpoint_url

Is it necessary for quota to configure under single user mode, if so how come

Since the script "update_bacula_tables" is missing from the install, normaly
installed at /etc/bacula/scripts --- this is a showbreaker.

[Bug 598385] Re: munin plugin exim_mailqueue has incorrect graph configuration

2012-04-13 Thread James Page
Hi Vibhav

Thanks for the revised debdiff; much appreciated.

Precise has just entered Final Freeze and as munin is part of Ubuntu
main this bug does not meet the release critical requirements now in
place so we need to defer this fix to next release.

Guess we might also get a new upstream release at some point in the next
few months so might be able to drop this and a number of other patches.

Targetting to Q-series.

[Bug 959037] Re: Don't start local resolver if a DNS server is installed

2012-04-13 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Since this won't be fixed for Precise from the network-manager side, the
dnsmasq package now is broken by default in desktop installations.
So I've added the dnsmasq package in the "Affects:" list, to make it easier for
people to locate the cause of the problem so that fewer duplicate bug reports
are filed (it's an LTS release, I suppose many people will be bitten by it in
the next 5 years).

Also, even though it's not the correct place to solve the problem, the
dnsmasq.postinst could be temporarily modified to disable the local
resolver. I can propose a patch for it if the maintainer is interested.

[Blueprint servercloud-p-arm-service-orchestration] Enabling juju for ARM

2012-04-13 Thread Robie Basak
Blueprint changed by Robie Basak:

Whiteboard changed:
  Question:
Is this using juju for direct deployment, or via Orchestra? -- Daviey

Via Orchestra. I think the main thing to test is juju because of it's
reliance on java with zookeeper. We don't need to discuss anything, just
test and fix bugs. -- Robbie

For juju to work on ARM, I am assuming that:

  1. ARM hardware will support IPMI for power management
  2. ARM hardware will support pxelinux emulation for boot
  3. cobbler's existing IPMI support will work with ARM IPMI

  Status:
- There are two modes of operation: running juju in a local environment, and
running juju via orchestra. juju currently fails to run on ARM in a local
environment, and I am working on this - but this is blocking me from clearing
the first five work items. Now that I have three pandas, I can test juju via
orchestra also. I expect either to clear the first four work items as soon as I
get juju working like this, or to find a series of ARM-specific bugs that I
will need to fix first.
+ The announcement of MAAS is exciting for the ARM Server story, as MAAS is
exactly what ARM servers need! As MAAS will have replaced or enhanced cobbler
and orchestra by the time ARM server hardware is generally available, it now
makes more sense to work on MAAS on ARM directly. In line with the expected ARM
server hardware delivery timetable, this is a task for Q, so I've postponed
work items appropriately.

  Work Items:
[racb] Investigate running an ARM-based juju environment †₁: DONE
[racb] Test juju/java/zookeeper on ARM †₁: DONE
[racb] Investigate running the juju provisioning agent on ARM †₁: DONE
[racb] Investigate running the juju machine agent on ARM †₁: DONE
[racb] Investigate juju and ARM on LXC: DONE
- [racb] Validate juju using orchestra: TODO
- [racb] Validate cobbler enlistment works: TODO
+ [racb] Validate juju using orchestra: POSTPONED
+ [racb] Validate cobbler enlistment works: POSTPONED
  Validate IPMI on hardware: BLOCKED
[racb] Validate PXE booting via uboot: DONE
Investigate juju with qemu-system-arm for testing ‡₁: POSTPONED
Binary image deployment with PXE on ARM ‡₁: POSTPONED

†₁: seems to work in local environment, cannot fully test until juju fully
working on ARM
