[Blueprint servercloud-p-php54] PHP 5.4 for Ubuntu 12.04
Blueprint changed by Micah Gersten: Whiteboard changed: Status: This has been a hard, back and forth process, and I am not entirely happy with the result, but I don't feel there was anything more we could do. With Suhosin unavailable for 5.4.0, we have decided to ship 5.3.10 with the full protections of Suhosin and its known working state rather than 5.4.0 without Suhosin. With beta2 all but released (undergoing final testing) with 5.3.10, there isn't much more we can do. Thanks to everyone who put their time and input into this. -Clint There is a PPA with up-to-date version of PHP 5.4.0 for lucid - oneiric: https://launchpad.net/~ondrej/+archive/php5 and people are already using it. (I already had some user base). + Work items: + [ubuntu-server] In january, assess situation based on Debian status and decide 5.4 or 5.3 then: DONE + [clint-fewbar] maintain a merged 5.4 in a PPA ( ppa:clint-fewbar/php5 ) : DONE + [clint-fewbar] setup rebuilds for extensions that build-dep on php5-dev: POSTPONED + [ondrej] setup backport for lucid to allow wider PHP 5.4 testing before the upgrade: DONE + Question: Does this require discussion or just rubber stamping? -- Daviey Answer: It is not entirely clear whether 5.4.0 will be sufficiently similar to 5.3.x to include in this release. The more conservative approach is just to ship 5.3.9 or 5.3.10 and leave 5.4.0 for 12.10, but the PHP community is interested in weighing in on the issue and I'd also like to hear the security team's take on the matter. * provide packages for both precise and lucid in the ppa (or lucid-backports) so people can test before upgrade * provide rebuilt extensions against the new ABI Question: With both PHP 5.4.0 final and Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 released today, is it correct to assume that the chances of PHP 5.4 being shipped with Ubuntu 12.04 are basically non existant? -Clemens -- PHP 5.4 for Ubuntu 12.04 https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-php54 -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 894279] Re: cloud-init fails to fetch metadata with OpenStack
Hi, It's great that this is fixed in precisebut has it been back- ported to lucid? There's going to be a lot of lucid instances running for a long time to come, even after precise is released. I've built myself a lucid development VM, and tried to build the latest version of cloud-init from precise. it won't build for a number of reasons - starting with lucid's python 2.6 version being too old, and no python-mocker. I've spent several hours on it so far, and wanted to check if i'm just wasting time duplicating work that's already been done before continuing any further. thanks, craig -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/894279 Title: cloud-init fails to fetch metadata with OpenStack To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-init/+bug/894279/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 437783] Re: bind9 failed to start : resolvconf: Error: /etc/resolv.conf must be a symlink
Precise now has bind9 1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4 so bug #920061 et al (re: /etc/resolv.conf must be a symlink) may now have been fixed. As I mentioned earlier (in #10), *this* report, #437783, originally reported a distinct bug, namely that of postconf failing to open main.cf and consequently /etc/resolvconf/update-libc.d/postfix trying to copy /etc/resolv.conf onto itself. The bug is still present in postfix 2.9.1-4. ** Summary changed: - bind9 failed to start : resolvconf: Error: /etc/resolv.conf must be a symlink + postfix update-libc.d script tries to copy resolv.conf onto itself. [Bug 984771] [NEW] sendkey ctrl-alt-delete hangs console
Public bug reported: Hi! I'm using the 12.04 amd64 with all latest updates. It turns out that entering sendkey ctrl-alt-delete just once hangs the console and then sendkey is not accepted anymore. [Bug 985099] [NEW] ssh long waiting time (delay) on 12.04 (not on 11.04)
Public bug reported: We have two subnetworks (with static IP v4 addressing). Call it here subnetwork S1 and subnetwork S2 . There is a machine P on S1 . It is the local machine from which I am reporting this bug. It has a fresh clean installation of xubuntu 12.04 (Precise), 32-bit version. There is a machine M on S2 . It runs ubuntu 10.10, 64-bit version (Maverick). ## the problem When I issue an ssh (or scp or rsync) command on P , aiming to access M , I must wait rather long time, about 5 seconds, before I get the login prompt. There is also another machine, call it N (ubuntu 11.04) , on S1. I.e. machines P and N are on the same subnetwork S1. When I type ssh on N , again aiming to access M , there is no such a delay (the login prompt is got immediatelly). The only essential difference (in my opinion) between machines P and N is in (x)ubuntu version (and also openssh versions). P uses xubuntu 12.04, 32-bit. (Precise) N uses ubuntu 11.04, 64-bit. (Natty) BTW, when logging from P to N (i.e. within the same subnetwork S1), there is no delay. In summary, while ubuntu 11.04 has no problem with ssh to the other subnetwork, xubuntu 12.04 causes the unpleasant delays. There is no nameserver issue. I am using /etc/hosts or ever manually typed IP adresses (numbers) when doing the ssh communications. [Bug 985249] [NEW] [FFE] Latest juju version includes critical features
Public bug reported: We removed juju from main inclusion consideration in part because these features were still landing and there wasn't time to address all of the issues and land these features in juju. The list of features landed since bzr 504 is long, but perhaps the most important thing is that the newer juju version is completely incompatible with the one in precise due to some zookeeper changes. Note that the PPA in use by most early adopters has been running this particular version for a few days now: https://launchpad.net/~juju/+archive/pkgs/+sourcepub/2382155/+listing- archive-extra And only minor fixes have landed in recent days, so it has been stabilized and tested for about a week. Included in this version of juju is a need for a newer version of python-txzookeeper (v0.9.5) which includes code to support more robust connections to zookeeper. python-txzookeeper currently has no other reverse dependencies, and is maintained by the juju development team. ** Affects: juju (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: txzookeeper (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: juju (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: txzookeeper (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: juju (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: txzookeeper (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to juju in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/985249 Title: [FFE] Latest juju version includes critical features To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juju/+bug/985249/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 592442] Re: fopen fails on some SSL urls
Anders, I'm not entirely sure that is the same issue. I've tried an affected openssl s_client on a few of the other noted servers from other comments on the bug, and they are not failing. That said, the original problem with the ucdavis server does not happen anymore for me on Ubuntu 12.04. I think the real problem was PHP not handling the error at all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/592442 Title: fopen fails on some SSL urls To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/php/+bug/592442/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Please check whether installing the package with dpkg -force-confmiss -i /path/to/nis.deb fixes this problem for you. In BOTH cases, after a server reboot, NIS doesn't come up correctly. Can you provide any more detail as to how it fails to come up correctly? You might use 'exec /var/log/nis-debug.log 21' as the first line of the pre-start script in /etc/init/ypbind.conf to capture any errors here. (And if there are no errors in that log, do the same thing for 'script' and 'post-start script', noting of course that each exec will clobber the previous ones.) -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. [Bug 944179] Re: smbd crashed with SIGABRT in rep_strlcpy()
10.04 LTS 64 bit It occurred when I did manually disconnection of my share in my WinXP. I got this error each time I did manually discconnection. Normally I don't (manually) disconnect my share at WinXP. I just power off my WinXP and the share is permanent. Ubuntu is allways running.
